Bobby Prince really had a sense for knowing who to reference his music from. (A lot of the tracks in this game quote or interpolate old anthems, marches, etc. Likewise how Doom references a lot of metal bands.)
Main menu song is Horst-Wessel Lied aka Die Fahne Hoch (=Raise the flag). That was the anthem for NSAP, too. The song is banned in Germany still in the 2020s. Merry Christmas!
My feelings exactly. I couldn't afford the hardware past an adlib or soundblaster card, but I remember looking at all the soundcard choices during installs wondering how it would sound on GM devices.
While some songs sound better with these instruments, it sounds pretty clear to me the OST was designed with FM synthesis in mind and is the intended way to experience it.

I always found the main theme so catchy and fun, only to find out later in life it's the actual Nazi Germany anthem

He must have used a Roland MT-32 because GM was not yet available for the home market in 1992

Are these tracks original or they upgraded? Never heard them sound this good.
They are original midi files (with small loudness adjustments for some instruments). The magic comes from the Roland synth.
