    I've had my tactix 7 with AP for over a year now. It's been awesome. I swim, run, hike, shoot, etc and it's been a champ. I learn something new on it every week. Unless you need/want something specific on one of these, the Fenix 7 will suit you very well. I have friends with it and they love it. A few transitioned form the Applewatch equivalent, and won't be going back.

    I tired the fenix 7 solar and fenix 7 solar sapphire and coros vertex 2 and fenix 7x before I went with the epix gen 2 sapphire. 16 days is more then enough for me and the screen is gorgeous very happy with the epix gen 2

    Tactix has no DLC coating therefore every eventual scratch can be ironed out due to Titanium's natural oxidation. With DLC coating once you scratched it there is no way to polish it ever again.

    • @sinepari9160
      @sinepari9160 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually you can touch it up easily with a sharpie, believe it or not. It just gets a 'battle worn' kind of look which I like. I owned the original Tactix for about 8 years and it only looked better from the very little wear. I now own a Tactix Delta and the coating is even better! Not a single scratch in ~3 years now of very hard use. Also, only the bezel is DLC. The rest of the case is polymer and extremely scratch proof. I can guarantee that by the time it starts to look 'bad' you'll want the latest model :)

    I just ordered the new 965, which is essentially a Epix Gen 2 in a different form factor ( no metal body) other the bezel. The screen is a little bigger, and has a higher pixel density for even more clarity. TH-cam reviewer Desfit says the maps look amazing! I am not sure if the all metal body in the Epix Gen2 is worth 300 more in cost? What do you think?

    • @PascalMarquisUnbox
      @PascalMarquisUnbox  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't test the 965. I think it's a matter of taste. In theses price ranges I would personally pay more for the titanium case. But that is only a matter of taste there is no good answer. ;)

    • @mden2490
      @mden2490 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PascalMarquisUnbox I guess you can make the same argument in reverse, for $600 do you want a watch that is essentially plastic? You may want to pay the extra and get an all metal Watch? The 965 does look more like a running watch, and the Epix more like a outdoors/ adventure watch?

    Ordered a black/black Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar for a bargain. Hoping I like it as was originally looking at just the 7 Solar as cheaper and a slightly brighter screen or even the 7S Solar as slightly small and better for my wrist. An other great video full of details. 2 things:
    1. My Tactix 7 (most beautiful and best smart watch ever) has a "Move Alert" to keep you moving. If I am not mistaken you said Garmin doesn't have that.
    2. Touching the watch face sections taking you directly to that widget only works with original Garmin watch faces. Not the 3rd party ones and it's a bummer :(
    One more: if you happen to get about 350k solar charge a day, you don't need to charge your phone at all as long as you just use it as a smart watch, meaning no gps, applied ballistics, fly, etc.

    • @PascalMarquisUnbox
      @PascalMarquisUnbox  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1. Thank you I've just found the option thanks to you. I did'nt know it was possible. I will test it. However I don't think there is the inactivity stamp on the callendar that was the main motivation from polar. 😉
      So I will probably just ignore it.
      2. Yea it's a great feature. Maybe the developer of the watchface can do it. It's a fairly new option.

    This was a great thorough review. I actually use the Instinct 2 Solar, but although I do really like the watch, I can't help wondering if I should have spent that bit extra and gone for a Fenix. I love the always on display and solar ability, which is why I would pick a Fenix over an Epix. I don't think anything beats the Instinct Solar for battery life, but with a colour screen, the Fenix does an excellent job. I might sell my Instinct 2 and buy a Fenix? Not sure? I'm being fussy, but then a watch is a very fussy prone item. You wear it all the time, so you must enjoy it functionally and aesthetically. I'm a big fan of Garmin as a company and their wide range of products. I know many Iphone users who won't buy an Apple Watch....instead opting for Garmin with their more rugged watches and far better battery life. It is worth noting, before someone castigates me for this....but Garmin watches are not true smart watches in the strictest sense. They are fitness trackers and multi function watches. I don't think we will have to wait too long though, before Garmin adds music storage and phone calls to their flagship watches. It's already coming in with the Venu 3. Once that happens, Garmin is directly competing with Apple and that will change things quite a lot. It's still valuable to get notifications and know when the phone is ringing on my Instinct 2, but it has it's limits.

    • @PascalMarquisUnbox
      @PascalMarquisUnbox  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If battery life is the most important to you, you should consider the Enduro 2. It's probably equivalent to your watch.

    Tactix 7 pro or the enduro 2 for runner?

    • @PascalMarquisUnbox
      @PascalMarquisUnbox  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both are excellent choice.
      The Fenix 7 Pro is the latest release with a better HR sensor.
      The Enduro got the best battery life.
      If charge time is the most important to you go for the Enduro.
      Otherwise go for the fenix. ;)

    One of the features of MIP as I have seen is easy reading in direct sunlight. The AMOLED screens in phones are not that good in sunlight, does Epix do better?

    • @PascalMarquisUnbox
      @PascalMarquisUnbox  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you don't see it well under sunlight it's because they are not bright enough. That is not the case of the Epix. Really the Epix is the best screen in every situation from middle of a dark night to the sunniest peak in the word.

    The fact that Garmin didn't opt to change the bezel on the T7 and make just a little radius/curve to counteract wear on the DLC coat further underlines the fact that this company diligently seeks out ways to make their products unsustainable. I mean, having a business model where you fart out another iteration of a watch every year with only the absolute bare minimum of change says it all IMO. I do enjoy and own a lot of Garmin watches, but I would like to see them giving us more for our money and the sustainability of nature as well.

    I thought I would buy a tactix 7 pro, but I'm really tempted to wait for a larger sized epix2 if that is even in the works.
    Unless there's a way for the tactix 7 to have an always on moderate brightness backlight.
    My ideal use for the watch will be during work driving in the city and knowing what cardinal direction I'm headed. Covering an entire beat, or responding to other sectors in the city means needing to know direction of travel at a single glance at my wrist, not flicking or turning my wrist to activate the backlight.

    • @PascalMarquisUnbox
