    I’m convinced my phone knows what my TV is doing, because I just finished a Lizzie Borden binge. I watched in order “Lizzie” with Chloë Sevigne, “Lizzie Borden Took an Axe” with Christina Ricci, and “The Legend of Lizzie Borden” with Elizabeth Montgomery. All of them were very good, but I think Elizabeth Montgomery’s rendition was the most chilling. And THEN, I turn on my phone to check my mail and what pops up in my TH-cam feed? . . . . 😂

    I just left visiting the Lizzie Borden inn last week & loved it! Sadly I couldn't visit Maplecroft. It's been bought by a private resident of the area. A local surgeon I heard..... I got pictures from the outside but would've loved to see the inside in person. Thanks for sharing

      AS of this video, we were the only one who had been given the tour and allowed to film Maplecroft. It's a beautiful home. I'm glad I got to share it as even then, they weren't sure if it would ever be open to the public.

      @@FOAMProductionsFilms ..There wasn't any evidence that she didn't do it..unless you consider eating pears in the barn as evidence.....most of it was trampled or mishandled...she got off the murder charge, because society in the Edwardiam era still did not believe a woman was capable of such a nasty deed

    • @FOAMProductionsFilms
      @FOAMProductionsFilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@maryjones4770 The murder weapon was never found. How would Lizzie have disposed of the weapon when she never left the property? The uncle conveniently arrived just before the murders and was conveniently absent just during the time of the murders. There was no evidence of blood on Lizzie or her clothes. Even the notorious dress burning was backed up by Emma that she had seen before the fact that the dress had paint on it. An unidentified man was reported loitering in the area just before the murders. Also, a similar murder took place a few weeks later while Lizzie was in custody. The strength required to do the physical damage to the Bordens, in my opinion, would have required more than a woman of Lizzie's size and social stature could have mustered. (I'm not saying a woman couldn't have done it - a woman that worked on a farm, for example, and was used to physical exertion most definitely could have, but Lizzie was a pampered society girl) Does any of this prove her innocence? No. It does, however, cast reasonable doubt on her guilt. To say there was no evidence that she didn't do it is just untrue.

      @@FOAMProductionsFilms …. Well said! Where is the blood on Lizzie? Where is the murder weapon? And I always wondered about the strength that would take even for a man to do this. For a woman, that’s a lot of power to generate to crack the skulls.

    • @debbylou5729
      @debbylou5729 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it’s litterally not. The fact that it was an axe that raised suspicion as the murder weapon, PROVES it. To swing a full axe a woman would’ve had to use the fullest biggest arc possible to bring it down. The next swing would’ve had to occur far too quickly to be done by a woman. Even a direct hit would’ve resulted in the victim rolling or moving. There would’ve been blood everywhere from the full arc needed. A man, who could’ve used more economical strokes with more force is the only explanation, considering the splatter involved. It’s not an emotional or psychological chain of evidence. Doesn’t matter how she felt about them. Maybe she hired a man to do it. Maybe watch someone swing an axe

    I believe that Abby Borden killed Andrew Borden, and Lizzie witnessed it, and then killed Abby. That’s why Lizzie had no blood on her clothing. Abby would’ve been full of Andrew’s blood and because there was no forensics back then nobody would’ve been able to tell the difference of whose blood was on Abby. It was probably a mixture of Abby and Andrew’s blood on Abby. This has always been my theory.

    My husband and I stayed the night in the lawyers room. As soon as we got there we was tired from our long drive from Ohio. We laid down for a bit but as soon as we laid down I heard a creaking noise I took my phone and took a picture from behind me because I was laying away from the window. The closet door opened . I had my husband get up and look because my heart sank to my stomach lol. He said there was a vent there and the door really has no latch to keep closed or a door handle .. ok that explained it.. but it never did it again all night. Very creepy . Also I went downstairs to smoke my husband was laying in bed. There was another couple there that was looking around and our door was shut to the bedroom and it had the old school latch to lock. The door kept opening and closing the couple was talking to the door and my husband says the window to the bathroom and the window in the bedroom was open causing a vacuum .. but it didn’t explain how the latch was locking and unlocking . I would love to stay again but it was so hot it was uncomfortable to sleep and I was awake from around 2-2:30 until morning . I was scared to go to the bathroom that morning lol . The breakfast was good

Lizzie was a freeloader who refused to work, and her father worked very hard his whole life, and she wanted to live extravagantly off of his hard earned money. When he gave her that tenant house to try to make money she wouldn't even do that. She wanted to just kill him and live extravagantly off of his money, which she did. She is pure evil. Many people live horribly, they live confined, they don't have any utilities and they don't kill people, so they can live extravagantly. Evil Lizzie is a piece of demon trash.

    Very amusing! The first thing I noticed was the tune to "Lizzie Borden with an axe" was a bit different than I'm used to. Not important, just noticed it. I would have loved to visit the house, but I am sure I would not want to spend the night there! Whether it's ghosts or just bad vibes, I'm not interested is staying too long.
    Some places do have strange things happen. I witnessed something at a house in Vicksburg. When I asked the guide after the tour, "Do you have a lot of that here?" her answer was, "Not usually in this part of the house." I think guides in such places just get used to it.

      Yes the basement area at Maplecroft was used as a Speakeasy by Lizzie during prohibition. The basement is very close to still original, Sadly, the owners of the Borden house are selling Maplecroft as the city will not allow them to open it for public view. It's a real shame that part of history will probably soon be lost. According to the guides and owner. who have done painstaking research to recreate the house as closely as possible to the Borden era, the Spirit board was in the house when the Bordens moved in.

    The way the murders went down it could not have been planned or a conspiracy. They were murders of opportunity. When Abby was murdered the maid was outside cleaning windows. Who would have known Abby would have sent her to do that? No one. As for Andrew's murder, no one expected him to come home early from his morning errands or to want to take a nap. Only Lizzy was home for both murders and her story of going to the barn was a lie as the police found no trace of footprints or whatever there. I don't think Emma had a clue what went on, but eventually found out, hence her moving away from Lizzy and never speaking to her again. The uncle had an airtight alibi for his time during the murders, so it wasn't him. I also have a theory a hatchet was not the murder weapon, but possibly an iron, which Lizzy was using that morning btw. Remember the hatchet they found never quite fit the wounds. Anyways great video.

    always wondered what she did with the murder weapon since they say it was not the one in the basement. thought maybe she hid it in the wall or something. There were reports she burnt a dress in the stove three days after the murders that had paint on it. what did she paint? maybe a wall.

    • @FOAMProductionsFilms

      She had a witness that the dress did indeed have paint on it (Emma, so that may or may not be reliable) I don't believe Lizzie committed the actual murders. I believe whoever did took the weapon with them which solves that, It is highly unlikely IMO however, that Lizzie was not involved in the plot.

      That movie was highly fictionalized. There has been speculation by some that LB was sexually and/or emotionally abused but little proof has been presented to back up those claims. IMO the murders would have taken far more physical strength than a society girl like Lizzie would have had. The killings were almost definitely perpetrated by a man, which is exactly why Lizzie was acquitted. Lizzie being involved in a conspiracy is likely however in my opinion and probably due to her jealousy and dislike of her stepmother and the usual culprit, money.

The police element has years of these kinds of crimes under their belt and it always comes down to two things. The murderer is close to home and it was personal on an emotional level. What man could that have been? John Morse? No? There would have been nothing that Andrew could have done to John that was intimate and personal. William Borden? Same thing as John Morse. There is no evidence and wasn't at that period of time either. They didn't talk of sexual, abuse at that time. However in our modern world we have enough cases of abuse (sexual as well) to now understand that it probably was some type of abuse. They lied about the Ouija board being in the house before the Bordens. The patent for the Ouija board was awarded on February 10, 1891, making the Kennard Novelty Company’s version the oldest Ouija board in the world. That was just a year before the murders. The family was already in the house for 20 years. That one does look old, probably early 20th century, because the planchette doesn't have a hole to see through it, which started in 1910. The original ones from 1891 look similar, but are a little different. That one is clearly newer. They had spirit, or talking boards before that, but they did not have the word Ouija on them. The idea of using "talking boards" to communicate with spirits or ghosts is very ancient. Not surprised they would lie about it, since they lie out of their teeth about hauntings. They should know people can Google the history of things. I doubt it was stolen and returned. Sounds far fetched. The thief would probably just throw it away.

Abby was struck in the front of her head first, so she definitely saw who killed her. People like to believe this stuff and get themselves all worked up like children. Those pictures of stick figures are fake. They lie to attract interest to make money. That house is big business. I would like to stay there for the history, and this story is fascinating without the paranormal garbage. If I go, I will not take the Ghost tour. I couldn't stay respectful while being lied to. These comments weren't really about what we agree on, but what I can prove by the history of the Ouija board. My remarks on that are provable facts. Something couldn't be there that wasn't made yet. On ghosts, well feel free to believe what you want, but centuries of physics research have found nothing like this exists. If they did, they would literally be haunting everyone, everywhere. My house was built in 1888, and I knew 2 people that died here, personally, my father being one of them. I've known dozens of people, including 2 of my best friends that have died, and not one person has shown themselves to me as ghosts. When you believe something, your mind can play serious tricks on you. These people that run that house thrive on that. They know that many people are superstitious. Nobody that truly doesn't believe comes away from that house with a changed mind, and people fake stuff on TH-cam for views. I did a report on lizzy borden years ago..the murder weapon was never found..there's too many things that it implies she did Not do this..it was found it was a left handed person that did the blows to to head and body..Lizzy was right handed..there wasn't enough time to do everything as in hiding the weapon that was used and change clothes and all that had to be done..also it is a question as to if she was capable to do those powerful blows..it was obviously someone very strong and was left handed...Andrew borden and another man had a angry dispute and it was a fight 3 days earlier before the murders and there wasn't enough proof of who the man was and not enough info..anyway .. I say she's innocent..but its all very interesting but nothing pointed to lizzy as to who did it..

      Definitely plenty of evidence that points both ways towards guilt and innocence

      I agree with you... a lot of media pointed to Lizzie and I interpreted the police also had some to do with it... I question the house behind was having some work done the day of the murder and also heard a hatchet was found on the roof of the house behind the Borden home years later. I suspect that Lizzie's uncle or even Dr. Bowen across the street may have had something too? Maybe it was this man that you speak of. If Lizzie was involved I think somebody else did it and possibly Bridget knew/was involved... why are there paranormal signs in the maids room or in the basement? Maybe that is where whoever did it hid after Mrs. Borden was killed? The behavior of Dr. Bowen and Uncle John Morse are strange also.
