  • The Los Angeles Flower District has more cut flowers packed into a few blocks of downtown LA than I've seen anywhere else before. It was huge, urban, gritty and bustling. I even ran into an old flower friend.
In this video I show you the scope of the district from the blocks of street-facing storefronts to the massive warehouse markets. This is the biggest flower market in the country. All of the big wholesalers are here along with every variety and color of cut flower in the world. If you're a flower professional, or a tourist, put the LA flower district on your bucket list.
If you don’t know me - my name is Ellen and my dream is to build a community of flower nerds who have an endless appetite for learning and experiencing all things flowers! Join me on this channel as we learn about sustainable floral design, life as a florist and how you can make a difference in the world through flowers.

It was really cool to see flowers on this scale. It's such a different way of shopping and interacting with flowers than I'm used to. Thanks for watching!!

Amazing! A massive amount of flowers. I have to wonder how much of that is actually sold, and how much gets old and is trashed.

I had the same thought!! There is so much product there! It also seems like a lot of it (most of it?) gets left on the floor over night which is why so much seems really open. Also... so much plastic sleeving!! It was a wild place!!

So cool to see so many flowers in one place. Also at the end when you show the arrangements - not my style! But I guess there’s something for everyone when it comes to flowers and design. I liked the one vase arrangement with the stems all at the top in oasis - just don’t want to use oasis.

The thing that was so crazy about the oasis plate - was that the vase was full of water -as if they wanted the look of flowers in a vase but chose to plop the oasis on top. Oasis is never needed!!

I've watched a number of interviews with you, most recently the Flower Math series. I'm contemplating starting a flower business in San Diego. Do you think a small grower looking to sell to florists and event planners could compete with what you saw?
