- It was 1980 and I was 16 and saw the most incredible performance of big band jazz of my life! I saw Duffy Jackson play with the Basie Band! Here is the story and how it later reappeared.
Correction: Color of the drums. Duffy was using Tama and he appears in the 1980 catalog. He must have used a Tama Imperial Star kit in "metallic white" or possibly "royal pewter" as the Super Star kits did not offer that color. However, It is possible that his kit he was using was from prior to the 1980 offerings. Those offerings would have been a few more. Super Stars did have a finish called "Platina" in1978. All geek drummer stuff, but interesting.
