I honestly love Regine Velasquez BUT I was there that night and I have to admit that Lani Misalucha is a different breed!!! Regine was funny and made the show entertaining but Lani's voice quality was unheard of... out of this world!!! Lani had a certain calmness in her singing. High and low notes I was in AWE!!! Regine was good too. Great show all together!!!

regine's chest voice is really amazing...from quality, range and strength its incomparable. sustaining a note in the highest range is her trademark... lani can never do the kind of chest voice regine can reach.but in fairness to lani she can be versatile with her voice.
@Count of Monte Cristo LOLs Regine Velasquez had sung Streisand, Houston, Dion, and Carey and can sing medlies of their songs in one concert. Lani is a great friend of Regine, but she can't do a full performance without some pitch issues.

I attended the main event and it was the first time I heard Regine and Lani live and they were amazing. Regine what kind of fool and Lani's opera rocked the house. I heard the magical high notes from Regine and they were clear,focused and well projected..a precious talent to have. Lani is a beautiful head singer with a Western tone at times. Her Whitney medley was her own this time. If I am at Vegas, I would attend her concert.

Here you can clearly see the difference when Regine and Lani belt high notes. They are both amazing, but sometimes Regine's voice can become too shrill and thin (like at 5:16), and her words barely intelligible. Lani's voice, on the other hand, is whole and thick, and her articulation still clear. As a listener, I prefer Lani. Regine's specialty is belting high notes, but if you take the belting away... As for Lani, the quality of her voice is just rich, and she has great vocal acrobatics (the dynamics and control she is known for), so she can still make a performance exciting even without the high notes. It's just an observation of mine. Still, they are both great and make me so proud to be Filipino. They have nothing to prove anymore. Legends!

i was at the concert and i am a regine fan and wouldnt have watched the concert if its just a lani concert but honestly lani just blew us away superb i would like to see regine do better but tlagang lani was better that night regine was funny though and not a bit of insecurity....i guess the song choices of regine din kse eh

Lani sang it so well... It was as if it was her own. As for the other, Mariah songs became too throaty and shrill... Mariah's version is always smooth and sweet to the ears. Regine made it too shrill and throaty.

Since this is called a "duel" between singers, I must say Ms. Lani did better in terms of singing technicalities, i.e., diction, phrasing, vocal transitions, etc. Ms. Regine is an exceptional belter, but her diction often goes downhill and becomes hard to understand when she belts her high notes. On the other hand, Ms. Lani did well overall, no obvious flaw, if not flawless, but she sounds too much like Whitney.

the precision of notes, Regine when she blew the last note "believe", was on point. When it comes to acrobatic skills, I dont think Lani can be compared to RVA. Not because you are a fan of one of these girl eh ipagpipilitan nalang naten yung mga technical terminology na hindi naman appropriate. Let us be fair naman, yes manipis ang boses nni Regine when reaching the high notes pero hindi nio ba alam na mas mahirap i maintain ang ganun techniques in full voice lalo na sa mga closed vowels, jan marami ang pumipiyok. But RVA has mastered her own techniques and she made it as her comfort zone. Lani on the other hand has a thicker release, but when it comes to acrobatic skills, RVA is undeniably more skillful that Lani, Lani's signature techniques is the dynamics, pero madali siya gayahin and RVA does that her own ways, pero yung acrobatic , wobbling notes like present sa song ni Mariah na "butterfly" i dont think Lani has done that, kasi she knew she cant do it almost the same style, she could probably do it her way pero hindi nia makukuha yung at 60 percent palang nung vocal acrobats na ginagawa ni RVA. Never gumawa ng mga ganun si Lani. Kasi hindi rin naman yun ang comfort zone nia, kaya hindi fair na i compare siya. Yung "Butterfly' ni Mariah, mahirap talaga siya kantahin kasi marami mga kulot and dapat on point ka lagi or else, disaster kaya hindi sia basta basta kinakanta sa concert, kahit si Mariah nga may back tracking pa, pero si RVA did that many times, live with the same kulot... and on point.
Overrated lang naman ang dynamics ni Lani. Simpleng hihina-lalakas na shifting between natural voice at head/falsetto lang naman. Aside from that wala. Ni wala nga masyadong control si Lani sa boses lalo na midbelts pataas. Regine has better lows as well. Regine's natural voice alone has way much more dynamics than Lani's... isama mo pa ang mga pasundot na mabibilis na riffs and runs ni Regine. Very melismatic sya kumanta. While lani is just the typical boring, old ballad voice na hindi flexible. In this performance, Regine still slays Lani. Butterfly is one of the hardest songs ever... but it seems like just a walk in the park for Regine. Mas kumplikado pa nga ang climax ni Regine kesa sa mismong recording ni Mariah... something that Lani can't do even in her dreams. Kaya kahit ang mga paproject-project ni lani at cheap imitation of Whitney sa One Moment in Time can't outdo Regine kahit walang kalatoy latoy ang arrangement ng Hero ni Regine na di ko alam kung bakit parang walang kagana-gana si Regina. Still... Regine's Butterfly here alone >>>>>>>> all of Lani's performances in her entire life. HAHA Kung may mas maganda man kay Lani, mas fresh sya in this performance. We all know that Regine can do a 10 -minute long Whitney medley , better than Lani ( she can't sing that well for 10 minutes or else she will just make the latter half parang Jesse Norman na may anemia ). But we also know that Lani cannot do Mariah much less Butterfly at baka maging "paru parung bukid" ang inabot. Even she herself had admitted it. I attended the main event and it was the first time I heard Regine and Lani live and they were amazing. Regine what kind of fool and Lani's opera rocked the house. I heard the magical high notes from Regine and they were clear,focused and well projected..a precious talent to have. Lani is a beautiful head singer with a Western tone at times. Her Whitney medley was her own this time. If I am at Vegas, I would attend her concert.

Here you can clearly see the difference when Regine and Lani belt high notes. They are both amazing, but sometimes Regine's voice can become too shrill and thin (like at 5:16), and her words barely intelligible. Lani's voice, on the other hand, is whole and thick, and her articulation still clear.
As a listener, I prefer Lani. Regine's specialty is belting high notes, but if you take the belting away... As for Lani, the quality of her voice is just rich, and she has great vocal acrobatics (the dynamics and control she is known for), so she can still make a performance exciting even without the high notes. It's just an observation of mine.
Still, they are both great and make me so proud to be Filipino. They have nothing to prove anymore. Legends!

Lani sang it so well... It was as if it was her own. As for the other, Mariah songs became too throaty and shrill... Mariah's version is always smooth and sweet to the ears. Regine made it too shrill and throaty.

Since this is called a "duel" between singers, I must say Ms. Lani did better in terms of singing technicalities, i.e., diction, phrasing, vocal transitions, etc. Ms. Regine is an exceptional belter, but her diction often goes downhill and becomes hard to understand when she belts her high notes. On the other hand, Ms. Lani did well overall, no obvious flaw, if not flawless, but she sounds too much like Whitney.

the precision of notes, Regine when she blew the last note "believe", was on point. When it comes to acrobatic skills, I dont think Lani can be compared to RVA. Not because you are a fan of one of these girl eh ipagpipilitan nalang naten yung mga technical terminology na hindi naman appropriate. Let us be fair naman, yes manipis ang boses nni Regine when reaching the high notes pero hindi nio ba alam na mas mahirap i maintain ang ganun techniques in full voice lalo na sa mga closed vowels, jan marami ang pumipiyok. But RVA has mastered her own techniques and she made it as her comfort zone. Lani on the other hand has a thicker release, but when it comes to acrobatic skills, RVA is undeniably more skillful that Lani, Lani's signature techniques is the dynamics, pero madali siya gayahin and RVA does that her own ways, pero yung acrobatic , wobbling notes like present sa song ni Mariah na "butterfly" i dont think Lani has done that, kasi she knew she cant do it almost the same style, she could probably do it her way pero hindi nia makukuha yung at 60 percent palang nung vocal acrobats na ginagawa ni RVA. Never gumawa ng mga ganun si Lani. Kasi hindi rin naman yun ang comfort zone nia, kaya hindi fair na i compare siya. Yung "Butterfly' ni Mariah, mahirap talaga siya kantahin kasi marami mga kulot and dapat on point ka lagi or else, disaster kaya hindi sia basta basta kinakanta sa concert, kahit si Mariah nga may back tracking pa, pero si RVA did that many times, live with the same kulot... and on point.
Overrated lang naman ang dynamics ni Lani. Simpleng hihina-lalakas na shifting between natural voice at head/falsetto lang naman. Aside from that wala. Ni wala nga masyadong control si Lani sa boses lalo na midbelts pataas. Regine has better lows as well. Regine's natural voice alone has way much more dynamics than Lani's... isama mo pa ang mga pasundot na mabibilis na riffs and runs ni Regine. Very melismatic sya kumanta. While lani is just the typical boring, old ballad voice na hindi flexible. In this performance, Regine still slays Lani. Butterfly is one of the hardest songs ever... but it seems like just a walk in the park for Regine. Mas kumplikado pa nga ang climax ni Regine kesa sa mismong recording ni Mariah... something that Lani can't do even in her dreams. Kaya kahit ang mga paproject-project ni lani at cheap imitation of Whitney sa One Moment in Time can't outdo Regine kahit walang kalatoy latoy ang arrangement ng Hero ni Regine na di ko alam kung bakit parang walang kagana-gana si Regina. Still... Regine's Butterfly here alone >>>>>>>> all of Lani's performances in her entire life. HAHA Kung may mas maganda man kay Lani, mas fresh sya in this performance. Regine looks like ngarag na ngarag at mukhang sabog pa sa jetlag. Tsaka mga panahon na ito nag-uumpisa na ang dark era ni Regine... buhok pa lang halata naman. This is what I understand. It's a concert not a competition. Why do Regine fans say na babawi xa? lani didn't do this concert to upstage Regine. Lani did this concert to entertain the crowd and have a great show with Regine. Lani is the least competitive people I know. She is not consumed with beating anyone. Kasi Hindi nya kAya. To sing a Whitney song like one moment is easy you just have to have a 1) strong matrona-sounding falsetto, 2) a glottle sound, and 3) pa daplis daplis ng birit. Madali relatively speaking compared to what it takes to sing a Mariah song like butterfly - 1) a sultry, vulnerable yet still controlled breathy whisper, 2) vocal dexterity to handle Mariah's Melisma's or curls without falling behind in tempo and finally a 3) a strong, sustainable sobrang talas sa tinis na Birit- all of which Regine can do in her sleep, when she's sing like on this night , and while walking lipad ang pagiisip. We all know that Regine can do a 10 -minute long Whitney medley , better than Lani ( she can't sing that well for 10 minutes or else she will just make the latter half parang Jesse Norman na may anemia ).
