I have a couple pads to finish up, and these will be different enough so each child in a household will have a different card. I looked over the thumbnails of some of your other videos and like that I can browse it and choose a card project easily. These particular cards are great. Oh, I don't know what size as I rarely measure stuff like that. I simply pulled out my circle dies, decided which size I liked and went with it. I have done them with other sizes and different shapes as well (rectangles, hexagons). Remember your card width is 3-1/2", so you will want a shape that fits inside that width. Other than that, just have fun!

      The ones I use are 1/2" square but you can use smaller ones instead. It doesn't really support the flap, it just gives it a little lift. You can go ahead and use regular foam tape or even fun foam instead!

    • @KarenAicken
      @KarenAicken  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi - I prefer the 1/32 size. I didn't list it in the description, as I use so much of it I buy huge rolls from U-Line (in Canada, but they are also in the USA). That is overwhelming for most crafters, which is why I don't list it. Plus shipping is high so I order enough of it (and other things) to make it worth my while. I know several retailers carry packages of thin foam mounting squares, if that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Your video was so helpful but I do have a question. Do you sign your card on the back??

    • @KarenAicken
      @KarenAicken  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What a good question! When I sent my cards (and the additional ones I've made since I first shared this video) I signed them below the sentiment, right on the circle element inside. Remember you can use any shape, so if you want more room you could use a vertical rectangle or oval on the fold and inside. Also, I know I wrote on the white inside center section on at least one of the cards I sent. Additionally, if you want more room you could write your longer message on the back! Apparently a lot of people do this when a card doesn't have enough room inside for more than a signature. Hope that helps!

    Thanks for the tutorial on these super cute cards- very creative fun fold in an updated size! I appreciate your tips along the way 😁 Do you cut these bases from a 8.5 x 11 (letter size) piece of paper? Just wondering if you find you have easier to use scraps for sentiments or whatever if you start with it portrait or landscape?

      Thank you! Yes, I do start with letter sized card stock for my card bases. For the Mini Slimline cards, my first cut is at the 6" mark on the long side (landscape). So that gives me an 8.5 x 6" piece of cardstock, and a very useable 4.5 x 8.5" leftover piece. I set that piece aside, and rotate the first piece on my cutter so I can cut it to 7" wide. That gives me a card base of 7" (the second cut) x 6" (the first cut). Score in the centre at 3.5" and there is the Mini Slimline card base. That leftover strip (which should be 1.5 x 6") is saved for sentiment strips, borders etc. I hope that helps!

      @@KarenAickenDid you mean to say 6 1/4" instead of 6" for the base size?

      YES - good catch. I normally make my Mini Slimline 3.5 x 6" so that was a total slip. Definitely 6-1/4" for these ones, although if you did them at a 6" height you could easily trim your 6x6" paper to 6 x 5.75 and go from there.

      @DarleneHope EEK - for these cards that measurement is 8.5 x 6.25 and NOT the 6" as I said. I'm so used to making my Mini Slimline 3.5 x 6" that I never noticed it. Another viewer caught it and asked about it.

    these colours are my fave so for me extra visually pleasing 🤩ive made fun fold slimline cards before but never thought to "bump up" the centre strip of patterned paper, such a fab idea, i am so going to have to try this.
    May I ask what thickness your foam tape is? im in the UK so typically over here its 2mm, but i worry thats often too high
    I am very glad you remembered your idea.

      In Canada I buy the 1/32 thickness foam tape. I believe the standard stuff is 1/16”. Hope that helps! I know lots of retailers in Canada and the US carry thin foam tape 😊
