Yessir.. changed a lot. 50yrs ago, I had some chance to stay in Seang Teik Road.. Missed falling into toilet (ha ha..eek!).. Hawkers came in bicycle clanking n shouting. There was a stall selling indian apom.. with clay pots and wooden stove. Kong² tng aluminium container on head. Laksa n pohpia on kandar across the shoulder..scissors n knives sharpening/repairs, even barber.. no more now. The colonial houses with thick wooden structures, ground floor with flowery tiles, top floors wooden. Those were the days.. Penang going into restricted MCO in a few days for 2 weeks. Those days, 50 years ago many households were still using the bucket system and the 32 door compartment trucks, were still operational. That was yoir lucky day, indeed. A colleague once told me, a relative visited his village in China and fell into the cesspool...ugh! The new variant strain has arrived in oz land. Health Experts said, it is more infectious than the older one. Just follow the guidelines issued by officials and it should lead reduction in case numbers and eventually to "zero infection" days......like we're now.
