My favorite scene of all-time in Get Smart: 99 is going on a dangerous mission and Max says, "Be careful, and I just want you to know that I love you, Ernestine." 99 replies, "Oh Max, that's the first time you've called me Ernestine. If only that was my name!" What a woman!
My favorite Get smart is where Max’s uncle, after being hit with every defensive machine Max has, Max asks him to go upstairs. Uncle s😮ays, “why not, we’ve been in all the rides down here!“ Meanwhile 99 is mopping, washing windows in full fancy dress, pretending to be the maid. Classic!

Thanks for bring us Barbara's story, very motivational! Ms. Feldon, Thank you for being a consummate professional, and a lovely woman, to your good health!
In 1967 Barbara Feldon co-starred with Dick Van Dyke in the movie "Fitzwilly." It is a charming movie and she was excellent as Juliet Nowell. Some veteran character actors, worth watching.
My younger sister and I watched every episode of 'Get Smart', we loved 99! She was beautiful but yet seemed so approachable, kind of like a cool big sister. Of course her wardrobe, hair and make-up were always on point, I always wanted to dress like her when I was older. So pleased to hear she is doing well, and living life on her terms.
Approachable is the word. Any average man of reasonably handsome appearance and with a half decent income would not be intimidated by the prospect of dating her unlike today's high maintenance divas.
I always knew she was highly intelligent, even when I was a kid. We *loved* Barbara Feldon. She was 1/2 the Get Smart show. Without Agent 99 , we wouldn't have watched Get Smart. Her beauty and femininity matched her intellect. Most men would dream of having such a perfect combination. Her voice, her body language and eyes can captivate any man. Barbara was (IS) a real woman. I grew up at the right time.
Barbara's style in GS was my mom's go to fashion style in the 60's. She even looked like her. Mom tried to get me to wear the same things and cut my hair short like that. I loved the styles but the short hair was not a good look on me. Oh well, It was hard being in junior high. Great video on a beloved subject.
She did a guest role on " Cheers ", playing one of Sam Malone's( Ted Danson) ex-lovers, they would get together once a year for a tryst, the episode was about her character telling Sam that the yearly trysts would end. She killed it of course, she was still the sweet, but firm, lady, just like " 99"
I JUST watched that episode and I had no idea it was her. She looked SO incredible in it. It's funny because I've seen that one multiple times from the first time it aired and many times after and I'm surprised it didn't register to me. I'm definitely going to watch it again now! So glad you pointed that out.
I also think she appeared in an episode of Friends, no? I vaguely remember her as an ex wife or something of 1 of the parents. I recall she was pretty sassy in that episode. I could be thinking of someone else. But, yes, I loved seeing her on the original Smart when I was like 7 or 8. in the 60s.
My uncle had a house in the village. Barbara Feldon lived upstairs from my Aunt and Uncle. They thought her as a nice, intelligent neighbor. As my uncle lived an intellectual life, being friends with the philosopher Bertrand Russel and Averell Harriman, they were used to the intellectual fervent of the village in the early 60s and Feldon fit in well.

Thank you for this detail video about Barbara Feldon. One of the main reasons I watch Get Smart is because of 99. A cool, smart character with a wardrobe to match, just like the actress who portray her. I recently finished reading her memoir book and really admire her strong and independent personality. I hope she will live to surpass her agent number (99)😍
My brother in law stayed in the hotel where she lived in NYC and once shared a lift with her. They talked and he always said she was the most strikingly beautiful older woman he had ever seen. To me she was from an era when actresses actually had voices not like the hopeless nasally current crop that seemingly don’t take voice lessons or even know the craft.
Barbara Feldon definitely one of the greatest and Get Smart with Don Adams one of if not the best shows of the sixties. I knew that Barbara was amazing, but your video did show how more complex and talented she really was. Thanks
I was only 12. Barbara was probably older than my mother....but I couldn't help it. Barbara was a knockout. I loved Get Smart. The 60s was a great time to be a youngster. Yes, I have her book.

Barbara Feldon, Andy Warhol, and in pic 64,000 dollar question Gene Kelly all from Pittsburgh. Great actress, Get Smart was Hilarious. Thanks for the video.
Barbara Feldon was in a movie from 1975 called "Smile", a satirical comedy about a teenage beauty pageant. One of my all time favorite movies. In one scene she has an argument with her husband and he angrily breaks a large ceramic dog sitting by the fireplace and storms out. She picks up the broken pieces, cradles them in her arms as she sobs and says softly "Oh poor thing", as if it was a real animal. Told a lot about the personality of the character she played.
I loved "Get Smart" as a kid and the big reason why is because Barbara Feldon made Agent 99 seem so intelligent, heartfelt and enjoyable to watch. Thanks for sharing this as it's good to know she's living her best life, or so I hope.
The first time I watched get smart, I fell in love with barbara. She was perfect, beautiful, smart. Nice actress. I watched every week just to see her play agent 99
This is a wonderful blast from the past for me. I only watched Get Smart occasionally back then, but it was because of Barbara. I grew up not far from Bethel Park, in the city of Mckeesport, so I've been there many times. Barbara's 20 years older than me, it's nice knowing that she's still here !
Get Smart was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I would stay up late during summer break and discovered Nick At Nite and Get Smart among other classics. I liked the dynamics of the dumb male spy and the smart woman spy. Her voice was also lovely
You forgot to mention that Barbara Feldon was in the original cast of "laugh-in" in the 1966 special. It was not supposed to be a series, but it was so successful, it became the weekly shoe we know today.
Oh My, Barbara Feldon as 99 was such an intense crush of mine. My heart went pitter pat just hearing her voice and seeing her eyes, smile and shiney hair. I think I need a tube of vintage dandruff shampoo! I'm going to buy her book now. Thank you!!!
I must agree with you, its very well presented and I'm glad I ran into it. What I like most about it is 'there's not a mean bone in 'Cool Classics' body'. Meaning that he focuses on the positive and does not resort to hatemongering. Bravo sir. BTW one of my favorite roles for Miss Feldon was in a movie called 'Smile', I believe with Bruce Dern.
Mine was only 4' 10" tall, and under 100 pounds. I fell for her in the seventh grade, and we were planning to get married after my time in the Army but her 'Karen' of a sister demanded that she could only marry a Baptist preacher, like she had. She passed in 2000 at 48. :(
It would take a book to say just how much I enjoyed her and Get Smart. She was simply stunning and was, in my opinion, the true focus of the show and the reason for it's success. I wanted to marry her from the first day I ever saw her but, I was a bit too young. LOL I also remember those commercial from Rambler and the cars, too! LOL What a true lady and star. May she live to be 99 and many years more.
Ms. Feldon recorded a three-part radio campaign for me in New York City. She was a quintessential example of poise, charm, and grace. Her :60 commercials were extremely well received and made me look like a genius for casting her!
@Paul Wetor One of my favorite episodes of The Man From U.N.C.L.E., too. Especially the theater shootout with T.H.R.U.S.H. agents behind the movie screen. It is no wonder they cast her as Agent 99. She was a perfect match.

She asked me directions when I was walking to work one early-morning in Beverly Hills. This was in 1990. She still looked good and was wearing a fur coat. The interaction didn't last more than 30 seconds, but I was thinking real hard what I could say to address her celebrity, but I was I couldn't think of anything off the cuff. I simply gave her directions and she thanked me. The streets were practically empty and we were the only two ones walking around at that moment.
We loved the show get smart and all the actors. we were in Jr. High School when it came out what wonderful memories come to mind. We're so glad to hear she didn't have to live through some tragic live experience and that she's still going strong good for her we hope she makes it to 99 and beyond too. Thanks so much for the vlog we really enjoyed it. Stay safe
As a teenager, I was totally in love with Agent 99. I loved her bob haircut and everything about her personality. She seemed good, and bad simultaneously. The thing that every man adores. Barbara Feldon is 110° in the shade.
Wow.. never knew this side of Barbara.. well educated but and more importantly.. was already very wise at a young age. Watching those old commercials.. she would have made great a cat woman.. lol The instant I saw her in a Cheers episode.. I spilled my drink and food on my sofa.. I did not know she was guess appearing. Still was still gorgeous.. I still remember when I was young of rushing home to watch old reruns of Get Smart. For me.. she was the gal I first seen wearing glasses and short hair and still looking hot and smart.. including the bonnets/berets she wore a lot.

"RIGHT NOW YOUR SORROUNDED BY 25 POLICE CARS" (chaos agent) No! "5 or 10 detectives at your door! NO... Would you believe a vicious street cleaner and a toothless Police dog!.........Oh Max! (99)
Barbara Feldon, Andy Warhol, and in pic 64,000 dollar question Gene Kelly all from Pittsburgh. Great actress, Get Smart was Hilarious. Thanks for the video.
I remember Barbara on "The Today Show" talking about "Living Alone And Loving It."
Would still like to read it.
WOW !! Amazing career & person !! Great video👍
I loved "Get Smart" as a kid and the big reason why is because Barbara Feldon made Agent 99 seem so intelligent, heartfelt and enjoyable to watch. Thanks for sharing this as it's good to know she's living her best life, or so I hope.
I've said this before. It's incredible how you are able to create your quality historical films.
Thank you
thank you
thank you.
Wow, thank you!
Well done.
Grew up with 99 and refreshing to see such an uncynical retrospective on a widely loved actress.
A true class act! Always loved and gracious. I knew Dawn Wells for decades. All those gals were best friends. So lovely!
I remember a Cheers episode where she played Ted Danson's former love interest. A bitter sweet story and I just loved it.
You find the best clips from the past & then put them together in a fascinating bio. Thanks so much.
She was my very first crush of all the women on TV and THAT VOICE!!!
99's character name on Get Smart was, Susan Hilton.
I had always admired her, but I never knew that she was so remarkable! Your video was incredibly well-presented.
Thank you so much!
She was so beautiful: practically the ideal woman..... Probably because of her (and Dawn Wells), I have had a lifelong preference for petite brunettes
Barbara wasn't petite, she was 5'7.
@@bcatypical more accurately, I should have said "slim"
@@bcatypical She looks taller than Don Adams. She is a slim girl.
Mine was only 4' 10" tall, and under 100 pounds. I fell for her in the seventh grade, and we were planning to get married after my time in the Army but her 'Karen' of a sister demanded that she could only marry a Baptist preacher, like she had. She passed in 2000 at 48. :(
@@michaelterrell Sad story friend. It's been some time, so I hope all is well with you these days.
She was the smart cool girl I always wanted to be. And to hear that she outshone her career proves how great she truly was/is. Cheers to 99!
I would love to hear them. Are any online that you know of?
@@CoolClassics - they are not. I wrote and produced them back in 1998.
I love the "Man From UNCLE" episode she was in. It was a perfect mix of humor and seriousness. It also featured Cesar Romero.
99 and Cesar Romero that sounds like a good episode
@Paul Wetor
One of my favorite episodes of The Man From U.N.C.L.E., too.
Especially the theater shootout with T.H.R.U.S.H. agents behind the movie screen.
It is no wonder they cast her as Agent 99.
She was a perfect match.

I think T.H.R.U.S.H. stood for
Technological Hierarchy for the Repression, Undermining, and Subjugation of Humanity.
Today's Deep State cabal!
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was way ahead of its time!
No pension plan for T.H.R.U.S.H. agents.
Just a .45 caliber retirement.
It seemed like Cesar Romero was on all the tv series in the 70's and 80's.
Pam Dawber on "Mork and Mindy" reminded me of Barbara Feldon on "Get Smart". Similar personality, looks, and styles.
Mrs. Barbara Feldon: a great actress and a classy lady. Thank you for sharing this magnificent video!
I have a newly expanded respect for this smart funny beautiful woman. She always seemed so wholesome!
That voice... And those eyes... They got me every time!
No evening was complete without Get smart in my 70s childhood. Such fun. Thank you for posting.
One my very favorite people! Barbara so evokes Sigourney Weaver. Thanks!
That was such a great video about Barbara Feldon. I loved Get Smart when I was a kid, it was one of my favorite shows.
I loved her voice and smirky smile
She asked me directions when I was walking to work one early-morning in Beverly Hills. This was in 1990. She still looked good and was wearing a fur coat. The interaction didn't last more than 30 seconds, but I was thinking real hard what I could say to address her celebrity, but I was I couldn't think of anything off the cuff. I simply gave her directions and she thanked me. The streets were practically empty and we were the only two ones walking around at that moment.
Thank you very much for doing this piece
My pleasure!
Three former actresses' friends together were Barbara Eden, Barbara Feldon, and Dawn Wells! Awesome!
Triple the Beauty!
@@CoolClassics They are my favorite TV actresses - I Dream of Jeannie (Jeannie), Get Smart (Agent 99), and Gilligan's Island (Mary Ann)! 👍🤠👍
Great photos and video clips! Ms. Feldon was and is a phenom.
Thanks for putting this together. I enjoyed looking at her career. she was breath of fresh air and an integral part of "get Smart".
Stay safe
The two hot TV Barbaras from the 1960s: Eden and Feldon...I had a crush on both.
I’ve loved her since I was a teenager!
Loved this. Never knew any of this. Thank you for COOL CLASSICS!
Real Classy Lady. It's now May, 2022. Barbara Feldon just turned (89) in March! 😘
LOVE HER. What a wonderful life-force she is. So much affection of her.
Watching those old commercials.. she would have made great a cat woman.. lol
The instant I saw her in a Cheers episode..
