This is a criminally under-rated whisky in my opinion. I also got fruit on the nose, maybe a slightly sour apple, very very smooth taste, and I get what Eric is saying about the early finish. Excellent sipper, this is probably at least a 7/10 for me, far better than Jameson or the plain Bushmills.

As an Irish person I 100% agree .. It is FAR superior to your standard Bushmills or Jameson ..

People always add a drop of water to their whiskey and talk about it, but that seems kind of random to me. I'm going to start dropping in a chunk of Aldi cheese and giving that an analysis

I really like Tullamore DEW, and i like it better than Jameson.

Its pretty harsh or bitter but it does have a lot of flavor supplementing that

    Scale of 1 to 10 I’d give it a 8

Great episode. I have this one and I do like it better than the Jameson and Teeling. I can see a great Brawl coming up! How much is the Bushmills Black Bush in your area? That one is a definite step up if it fits in to that $35 category, and I think would compete with the Sexton.

We have done both of those as episodes. Sexton was pruchased for $30, and blackbush we got on a sale+coupon deal, but right now it is going for like $35 when not on sale. Price hikes accross the board here in PA recently.

Looking to do some aging with tullamore dew(same bottle y'all are tasting), wanted some thoughts of white oak and honey from Jack Daniels Tennessee honey. Crucify me if you must but its my first attempt at aging whiskey.
Any helpful thoughts or comments would be appreciated, i can't ant find anything online for aging irish whiskey specifically.

There is no competition, this stuff beats jameson any day of the week. Almost dangerously smooth. Jameson is too sweet in my opinion. And at $24 its hard to pass up.

This is one I’ve considered trying for years. Seems like it might be worthwhile …if I find it on sale.

"Considered trying for years" isn't a serious option. I know people who tried this and don't buy anything but this now.

The Sexton; that lady put too much work in to be beaten! 😂

Purchased this in Canada when it was on sale for $10 off. ($43 regular), 80 proof. I can see why the large discount and clearing out the shelves: few will buy this a second time for that price. Even at the large discount, I could not drink much, and gave it away to some poor folks. Cheap whiskey is cheap whiskey, even if it is overpriced.
-- It claims "Matured for many years in oak casks," but tastes like those "casks" were green oak. Bitter. Maybe Poplar casks? Or plastic casks with wood chips added? Tastes like green wood. Can 2-years be called "many years?" *It definitely NEEDS more years of aging; too fresh. Immature. Amateur.*
-- Maybe best neat. Tried it with ice, water and soda. Tempted to try Diet Coke, but was out. (Those poor folk drank it with Dr. Pepper 🤣)
-- Okay, I see the problem now. This is a product of a English-owned Scottish corporation, pretending to be an Irish whiskey.... It is better than American scotch, but....considering award winning Canadian whiskeys for not much more: meh.
