    If you're planning to make any stockings let us know in the comments what fabric collection you plan on using or if you plan on using scraps

    Pretty much a quilt game changer for me when you said "Twist your left wrist clockwise." I've been quilting for years and I STILL struggle occasionally with the binding. This will make it so easy now!

    • @juliaofhamburg
      @juliaofhamburg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Exactly my thoughts, Teresa! Almost every time I join my binding it is wrong. Mostly I have to do it 2 or 3 times. But now! I'll turn my left wrist clockwise. 🥳
      And the stockings are fun too, aren't they?! 😜

      Glad I"m not the only one! I always have to watch a tutorial on how to do it, because I always mess up, one way or another!

      I've been quilting over 20 years and until I watched Kimberly show how to do this I always had to un-sew & re-sew the join. She's the best!

    This project is so wonderful and easy to manage a HOARD of family members, or sew for gift bags, e.g. wine bottles, or stuff for nieces and nephews stuffed with gift cards, treats, and little novelties! I'll be using scraps and make my own 2.5 in strips. Thank you FQS!

    Thank you Kimberly, 'twist your left wrist' is an absolute genius tip - have been quilting a long time and usually need to think it through several times to be sure.

    Kimberly that is super cute! You look beautiful in your red blouse, very festive. Y'all are putting me in the holiday spirit. Lilly and Ashley are doing a wonderful job with the set & video. Thanks for everything the FQS team does for your customers.

    I've been making stockings similar to this for years (without the special batting-just use regular batting). My only tweak is I insert about 3" or so of aida fabric on the top of one side, and I cross stitch the name on the aida. (cross stitch the name first then cut to fit the pattern top). Then assemble. I also do not necessarily use Christmas fabric but maybe golf themed fabric for a golfer, and pieces of used denim in different shades for my nephew who is a rancher.

    It’s a good thing I had extra fabric I didn’t give up and I kept watching you do the binding over and over and over again finally understood what you were doing with one hand so that the binding needs to be perpendicular to each other only one hand moves one stay still it’s OK live in learn

    Great quilt as you go project. It's fun to sew quilt as you go. Will have to remember Kimberly's tip about not pressing as you add each strip. I never had heard that it distorted the batting. Would be nice if this stocking kit was included in the Jolly Box. Maybe?

    I made one today from a jelly roll from Spotlight in Australia. the only thing was I sliced my finger with the rotary cutter just before I finished! So apart from my finger being glued at the hospital I used fabric glue to put on the ribbon at the top .It looks good though (the stocking not my finger! Haha).

    I love this stocking quilt-as-you-go project! My question/thought is what if you made the binding/top piece larger so you could put a name on it if you think it's a possibility how do you think we could do it?? Any thoughts/ideas/tips would be appreciated! Thanks so much!

      Could you embroider name on one of the strips?

    • @MarciaBaker1205
      @MarciaBaker1205 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you read some of the comments, I can't remember which one, someone explained how she cross stitches the names. I am sure you can embroider a name, too.

    • @MarciaBaker1205
      @MarciaBaker1205 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sure you can embroider a name before you stitched it on beforehand. I would probably mark it beforehand to make sure it's in the right place. Another person said she does cross stitch on it.

    • @janiceherman9251
      @janiceherman9251 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t cross-stitch but would also like to include a strip on top with an embroidered name. Just wondering if this would wreck the look of the diagonal strips. Also not sure how to go about it. If someone does this can they please send a picture.

    I would use fabric glue to join the pieces of binding. It will be stitched in anyway. Make the 45 cut, iron the seam 1/4 inch under before you place the binding on, finish by cutting the other side and glueing it. Finish binding. I really think permanent fabric glue could be your friend on this.

    I know you're selling these kits but it seems that some leftover batting would work just as well.

    • @SuzetteG316
      @SuzetteG316 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do this exact technique with my own batting. It's quite easy to do. You don't even need to draw the lines if you have any experience at all with quilting. But you could also certainly draw them on your batting if you choose. I love this technique and have fun making stockings this way.
