      We did have in that kind of wealth was OPEC oil money from the gas and oil wars earlier in our lifetimes-thus the Trump energy independence and Biden's new energy at renewables. That's why I did have with Sen. Joe Manchin to check out fossils fuels today, our own natural resources, and what that means in the USA and world.

      meh.... but living in it, you're not really experiencing futuristic buildings in your daily life or anything. it's comfortable, safe and almost luxurious, but it's also really small. and middle class folk don't get to live in these towers.
      there's a whole side called karama that no render or walkthrough of dubai shows and it's where most indian working class live, it's cheaper housing and looks extremely contrasting to this portrayal.

You call it soul-less, cruel, artificial, overhyped bla bla bla.. yet it’s an amazingly beautiful city created out of nothing regardless of the difficulties(geography, labor, greed and human criticism and short sightedness like y’all) isn’t this a testimony of the human potential? Sheer drive and desire to expand and innovate? Isn’t that what you all pretend to want? Why then hate this city!!?

    I remember back in the late 1970s at a convention in Chicago I came upon the booth of the UAE and was amused and curious to see Arabs coming to Chicago to solicit business. I was just a young engineer then and had a friendly chat with representatives from Dubai, a place nobody had heard about back then, and when I left their booth they presented me with a thick book about their region. I was shocked as it was an expensive hardbound book with colored photographs, and I was just a wandering conventioneer. Subsequently, years later as I had heard that many US engineers were going abroad to the MiddleEast for short work stints, I joined that bandwagon.

    I think Dubai and the United Arab Emirates are doing the right thing, by investing so much in architecture and design to attract tourists for the future.. But if they really want a broad range of "tourism", it's got to be more than just a showcase of the newest architectural steel, concrete and glass building designs of the moment.
    The architecture is all typical modern minimalist design , which just looks like any modern architecture you can see in any big city.

      Hamdan728 Plays would be great to have more projects related to cultural activities rather than another shopping mall or district! Culturing and educating one’s nation should be the first priority! And lowering a bit the living prices or otherwise in a while most residents will leave this place due to this crazy prices and the dream buildings will have to be built by Emiratis, and Emirates as well will have to take over the jobs of workers and customer service etc.. Europe wasn’t built in one day or decade! It’s kinda scary the speed with which this place aims at radical transformation.. wise approach is needed! Let’s hope that other needed changes will happen as well in parallel more important than skyscrapers: human rights, visibility about it etc! Cheers and all the best though! Certain things in uae are definitely worth to take as examples!

    • @Diamondkity
      @Diamondkity 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As well add to that paying on meritocratic principles but not because of ones’ passport (uk, USA, western countries etc), that doesn’t make ur country great but rather witnesses an obtuse thinking! Loyalty to the longtime residents born here!! And not refusing them visa after they’ve dedicated all their lives to uae!! Theres
      Much work to be done, and unfortunately what’s obvious from media and tv is that main focus keeps being of more, bigger, the biggest building, luxury more luxury! And people who lose touch with reality because they dunno what’s the real price and worth of sweat, hard work and sacrifices! You people need seriously to be shaken! Sheik Zayed wanted your nation to be a humble and wise one, not just a luxury and consumerism obsessed one!
