I love his sorta "indie" tone with a bit of delay and very basic "cheap" distortion he had 'til 1997 a lot. I like his sound later as well, but that era was him at his most unique sonicwise, just Noel, without trying to emulate any classic sound he kind of have since then.

There was nothing wrong with Tony McCarrol's drumming abilities. He played on this track, the 1st album, and "Supersonic". After hearing this song for the 1st time ever, I realized that Tony being sacked was more about Noel not liking him than his abilities as a drummer.
Yes thete was. He couldn't get the timing right on bring it on down. Noel wasnt the only one with that opinion as Mark Coyle said the same thing. Hence the reason Noel wanted him out. He knew with the second record coming out Tony wouldn't be able to do what was asked of him. He's a good drummer for those early songs and that's about it.
@@iamthewalruscuckookachoo1372 Not trying to start some internet debate here, but I'm adding my additional opinions and leaving it out beyond that. It's a well known fact that when Noel came aboard, he came on to lead. They were no longer Rain. It's also clear that Noel had designs of his own for the band. There is a shot from the '94 MTV performance of Supersonic where Tony screws up, and Noel glares back at him. It was then and there that I knew Tony's days in the band were numbered. Was it due to lack of skill or personality conflicts? Maybe a little of both with the latter justifying the former for a reason to sack Tony. I'll agree. Tony was no John Bonham, nor Charlie Watts. But he didn't need to be really. And though the musical compositions for Morning Glory were a tad more complicated than Definitely Maybe, they weren't Wagnerian. 😂

Nah I won’t lie, they would have been so good if they stuck to a similar tone through their career and not a lighter sound. Sure maybe every now and then sprinkle a lighter song but to me they will always be a true rock band during those first 2 albums

Amazing, isn't it? What's more, we got three songs out of this one! My Sister Lover from Be Here Now (B-Side), Setting Sun (Chemical Brothers), and Lock all the Doors (NGHFB). 😄
It actually became Morning glory, My Sister Lover, Setting sun, and lock all the doors. they kept this kind of tone for DM and a little bit of WTSMG but dropped it on Be Here Now. their early era will always be the best with these cheap, grungy and raspy tones on demos they did like cloudburst and take me.
How did it take me nearly 30 years to find out this exists. Chems: have you got some spare lyrics? Noel: I'll just check me drawer.
good things often take long times man
I knew of the Chemical Bros version but never heard this til today. Love it!!! Always love discovering old Oasis tracks from back in the day. ❤
We didn’t have youtube 30 years ago. All of the early Boardwalk recordings I only discovered here.
Noel's early lead guitar tone/playing was fantastic!
His tone and playing is still fantastic
