My wife and I when we were first married had little money to do anything with but some how managed to scrape up enough to be able to attend a monthly gospel sing at our local auditorium and we were so fortunate to see and hear Mom and Dad Speer. What a blessing. Now after 60 years of marriage we realize our earthly journey is almost over. Soon we will join all of those singers that have gone before us.

Thank you Lord for families like this. They leave us such inspiration,and hope. I hope to hear them in person one day when the Lord draws us nigh to Him. Until then I hope I can teach my children to love,and serve the Lord just as Mom,and Dad Speer did. I was Blessed by their music,and now both my sons enjoy it as well.

This is the song the church was singing when I made up my mind to serve the Lord, 56 years ago. Hallelujah. I am bound for that city.

Oh my goodness.....Sang these songs so many years ago. Forgot I sang them, heard them tonight and remembered them all....
I wish my momma would be able to hear the Speer Family sing, This is a tribute to my momma in Heaven. She loved Southern Gospel music. She loved the Speer Family.

Does anyone remember a song they sang way back in the 70's "My Life a Blessing" ? " Did you come to church today to be a blessing, did you come to help some sinner find the way..." My husband and I sang it but lost the music. I would love to find the music again.

Loved them all, but especially Rosa Nell and Mary Tom. What voices! Rosa looked like Mom, and Mary looked like Dad. Grew up listening to this family each Sunday before attending Church. Mama could barely get me away from the tv to eat breakfast. I loved music then and still do! I have played piano and sung all my life in Church.
Ben was the first Speer to pass away and he was my favorite bass sing.
Brock Speer was the bass
And Brock was also the first one to pass away. I believe Brock passed away in 1999 or very near then.

Yes folks this is not the Religion to grow up in or what your seeking after. This is the way my Family lived. More Religion and Gospel singing then Jesus Christ himself. I was 27 years old when i made Jesus Christ my Personal Lord and Saviour.

The woman between Mary Tom and Brock is Brock’s wife Faye who sang alto with the group for many years. The other man is Harold Lane who sang with them 22 years. The lady in purple is Kathryn Watson, their soprano from 81-83
I use to have this on cassette tape in the 80's. Who was the lady in the violet dress that raised her hand at the end? I remember seeing her in concerts, but I can't quite place her.

This is southern gospel as good as it gets. But can we be honest for just a minute? I have to disagree. You can't take one verse out of The Bible and say this. There are too many verses to dispute this idea.
Also, please get a K.J. version of the Bible. The N.I.V. leaves out important things.
(A) I don't have just one verse, I have scores of plain, straight-forward, unambiguous Scriptures to support that doctrine.
(B) There aren't any verses to dispute "this idea."
(C) I use 26 translations, including the KJV, in my Bible studies.

Donald Shelton Harold Lane, who sang with the Speers for 22 years and wrote songs like The Next Time He Comes and I’m Standing on the Solid Rock.
What will we say when we stand at the Throne of Judgement. God loves us and Jesus died for our sins to be forgiven and wash us clean in soul and spirit. Please accept Jesus as your Savior if you have not already and love God with all your heart if you haven't already.
