    I am 66 years old and I wish I leaned this 40 years ago. Never too late, though. Thank you for posting this very informative video. Well done in every aspect.

    I never comment on videos... but I just had to tell you how awesome your video is! The concept of a string line seems so simple, but the devil is in the details! Thank you for sharing your technique and saving me countless hours in the years to come as I continue to build my horse farm.

    I second all these comments. Most of the instructions I've seen for string lines have made my head hurt.
    Yours was the easiest by far.
    Thanks

    Crazy how something as simple as this method of tying the second end has never been shown to most youngsters. I hope they see this video.

      Lol Ive seen nothing but seasoned men tie up jet lines/ stringlines like that and heres what drives me crazy, when i was an apprentice i was never waiting to be told because to be honest i would always enjoy working with those hard ass Dont Talk just Listen ANd always pay attention to what i do assholes in the trade . so very quickly i learned to be a quick study and ill tell you what not alot of people can do that or actually see the benefits of having a knowledgeable asshole partner.. my point is when i noticed my old partner way back then do that and do it so fast and so tight that i asked him like 10 times with in a hour to show me what he did again the asshole said i wasnt paying attention so i said well this time ill be right their next to you just as i cut the line with my blade ... hahahaha I get you but these youngsters need to want to learn those cool tricks so that we can pass them down the line but sometimes i just dont think they even care sometimes its unfortunate really

    taunt
    1. to reproach in a sarcastic or insulting manner; mock.
    2. to provoke by taunts; twit.
    taut
    1. Pulled or drawn tight; not slack.

    Hi Dean thanks for sharing the great video on how to use a string line ! The one question I had was on a new fence installation. I was planning to set my first post with 1 1/2 " spacer board and set my end post 30 ft away with spacer board and run my string line using the loop and tie off technique you showed us. If I set my other posts in the run off this string line wouldn't the starting post and end posts be 1 1/2" off from the posts ? Thank you

    • @tylerward7493
      @tylerward7493 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The string is your guideline, the one thing he didn’t mention in the video is after both ends are secure you use a measuring tape in the middle of the string and so on for your new fence installation. Everything essentially will be 1-1/2 off that straight guide line when you are finished running your poles.

    When I’m setting a line of posts I don’t do the 1.5” space. I just plumb each post to the the line as I go.

    • @GarwoodNick
      @GarwoodNick 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the video is about straightening an existing fence, not setting new fence posts

    • @brandonk1502
      @brandonk1502 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GarwoodNickit actually seems like this is more of a video on how to use a string line, you wouldn't measure the middle of a fence for straightness. You would go end post to end post on the post side of the fence. Even then if you wanted to be accurate your end posts would have to be plumb.

    • @GarwoodNick
      @GarwoodNick 5 ปีที่แล้ว
