    Awesome! Worked in about 1 second. Just wish I'd seen this video first before I beat on it which did nothing.

    Thank you. We had our second Milwaukee drill lock up on us. I was able to fix our new drill and the old older one we still have so now have two working drills!

    Aah...after hours of this and that, nothing worked. Then, this less than 2 min video, and literally 30 seconds later, voila!! The stuck bit was removed, and I get to keep my drill! Awesome...thank you so much!

      Vanita Singh, thank you I tried many things too when it happened to me, nothing worked, I watched many videos and they didn't work either, finally I said to myself wait a minute, you have a vise you are not using!

    I had a brand-new Craftsman drill to seize up on my bit, it was keyless and impossible to remove. Tried everything, sprayed WD-40 into the chuck, put in vise and scarred it up with Channel-Lock pliers, could not move it. Complained to Customer Service gal in the Phillipines(?!)and she sent me a brand-new drill with charger, battery and red kit-bag.
    Started using it but still had old one on workbench. This morning, out of boredom, tapped sharply on the three visible ends of the chuck with a small ballpeen hammer. Miracle. Chuck opened easily. Now have two new red drills, courtesy of Craftsman.

      I've had a similar experience, where I ended up with two items when the other worked after the fact, I did ask if I should return the original, they said no, so my conscience was clear on that one! The other one I've had trouble with is the Ryobi battery for my weed-wacker, now they won't accept it back, it fell just short of its warranty. Look on product websites, sometimes they have recalls, sharing! That way you can get a new updated item and save money that way.

    How are people giving this video a thumbs down? I slapped my drill in the vice with cardboard and got the bit out in 5 secs. Thanks for the tip, it worked great.

      I know the feeling, I keep improvising but it doesn't always work, I went the other day - I wanna cut this bush in the back of the lawn (skunks, raccoons and neighborhood cats hide behind it and don't want surprises if you know what I mean ; ) - I had cut it to one and a half feet high of its several trunks (bushes are more difficult!!!) with a normal saw - the rest, I couldn't insert my saw in between the tight-knit trunks, closer to the ground no way with a bush - so I went to Home Depot - I saw a Ridgid reciprocating saw for $212 - saw a Makita for $159 and renting the equipment is for $28 for 4 hours. I can't keep buying tools, so I guess I will have to rent! I wouldn't blame you for probably not wanting to purchase a vise. Just be careful and wear safety glasses though, always! Stay safe. Thanks.

    Any suggestions for those without a vice?

    • @meteoriter1647
      @meteoriter1647  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried other methods like grabbing the chuck with a wrench but the wrench has to be large, and couldn't get it tight enough especially if you put cardboard between the teeth and the wrench teeth, you could try paper so as not to damage the chuck, but that could be unsafe, because if you accidentally let go of the wrench, the wrench could turn uncontrollably and God-forbid strike a body part. I suggest renting a vise if you don't want to purchase one. They are for about $35 to $70 on sale. I bought mine at Princess Auto.

      @@meteoriter1647 bullshit. remove the chuck from the drill by breaking the loctite, then tap the various metal peices to shock it, then tap the bit out from the backside with a < 1/4" punch.

      smart, the vise being heavy and counteracts the torque through weight, but your idea I'm thinking works through mechanical advantage of the screw and friction
