Mom of 4 here and you did an amazing job packing your hospital bag! The zipper swaddle is so much easier than using a swaddle blanket. I would add AirPods, snacks, your Stanley, your ear plugs, and a nursing pillow to leave in the car in case you end up wanting it. The support for learning to breastfeed is super helpful! I sleep with ear plugs in and can still hear my baby when they wake in the night to feed since their bassinet is pretty close by.
@@RachelVinnthe hospital gives you a giant water thing so I wouldn't bring your Stanley! Also prepare for staying longer in case of a c-section! I hardly brought anything for myself and ended up having a c-section and my husband had to run home and grab us stuff because the hospital makes you stay for like 3 nights if you have one!
I was coming to say this exact thing , I’m a mama of 7 (pregnant with #7) and she did wonderful! Love how Rachel doesn’t mess around and is so authentic ❤
I’m a HEAVY sleeper, I can fall asleep anytime/anywhere. That being said I’ve had 4 babies and every time for the first couple months after birth your waking up to EVERY single sound or movement no matter what you do to ignore it or how exhausted you are. it’s a sort of superpower, a blessing and a curse! Good luck mama!
Watching your video from the hospital in my postpartum room! Went into labor at 38 weeks exactly and delivered him 2 days ago right before the storm lol 😅. I started doing the miles circuit at home and it put me into labor 2 days later! Being discharged shortly. Hope you & baby are well ❤❤❤
Hi Rachel really loved this day in my life! The parts that you deem “ uninteresting or less exciting ” is actually very interesting and makes your content way more relatable because that’s just how a normal day plays out ☺️. Also have you been feeling the baby kick yet?
I'm a normal sleeper and no matter what, any time your baby moves you'll be up haha! Especially the first couple months wanting to make sure they're okay and stuff. Babies are also very loud sleepers! Newborn sleep deprivation is so real! When we went to our sons first doctors appointment I had to have my husband retell me what the doctor said so many times because I just couldn't remember because I was so tired. I remember sitting in the doctors office fighting the urge to fall asleep while she was talking to me! 7 months later baby still doesn't sleep through the night but my body is now used to the lack of sleep that when I get 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep I feel so energized and wide awake!
I’ve always been a terrible sleeper but after giving birth, the depletion from that plus the extreme sleep deprivation, I passed out anywhere anytime i could. As soon as my head hit the pillow I’d be out (which is very unlike me, usually takes me ages to fall asleep.) Small little noises didn’t phase me. I could fall asleep sitting upright on the couch in broad daylight with the tv on loud. This lasted until my daughter started sleeping through the night and I was finally able to catch up on all the sleep I’d lost. So it’s likely you’ll be so exhausted you’ll be able to sleep until baby wakes you crying
mom of 2 here! you did great at packing! Personally, I recommend bringing some type of shower chancletas... I really didnt want to be barefoot at the hospital shower!
Mom of three here. I definitely don’t recommend the earplugs when having a baby in your room, BUT I will say that once are are able to sleep you’ll be so exhausted that you won’t have any issue falling asleep. Even when baby was in our room we had the monitor on them and the volume in the monitor turned way up. Baby was still only a few feet away from our bed but we still wanted the monitor volume high. You’ll also be super aware of baby being near that you’ll wake up quicker than you think you will.
My biggest flex in the hospital was having my own gripper socks I got off of Amazon. They were so comfy and perfect! I also really enjoyed having my own cozy jammies and my own blanket
24:13 I used to be a sensitive sleeper. And moms are extra sensitive at the beginning anyway. But you do, at least I did, get used to it. The beginning is rough I’m not gonna lie. It’s beautiful and cute but also really tough and a big adjustment.
I’ve just done my egg retrieval after having 5 years of infertility and now I have to wait to do a FET by the end of this month, do you have any tips on what I can do to make the transfer successful? Godbless you and your family I hope you have a safe and easy labor💕
You packed so well! I literally only brought my son 1 leaving outfit and i took slippers, huge granny panties and leggings, shirt, and a robe, I pretty much wore a robe the whole 2 days. We did a lot of skin to skin, so decided to keep him swaddled, no clothes. You’re doing great! Don’t let your husband forget to pack! I ended up going into labor 2 weeks before my due date lol
I have the Halara wide leg overalls in 8 colors now 😂 They were my favorite teacher-outfit pre-pregnancy, and they are the only thing I want to wear now that I'm 6 months along 😂 I always get compliments on them.
Hey love your videos, I am a very light sleeper to the point I had to close the door and let our dog sleep outside the room. I can hear him move all night. I will say what really helped was having my hatch on to muffle the noise and Ive been getting better sleep.
Its so nice to be able to relate to someone even if its online and less personal. Being pregnant in a new city with nobody to connect to, I feel incredibly isolated.
My baby was born last month and I also like silence when I sleep. I wear my Loops Quiet every night and I can still hear baby when he’s upset. If you’re a little nervous, don’t push the earplugs in as deep as usual and then you’ll hear a bit more. Your hospital bag looks great! I really liked having my own pillow (patterned/colored case so it doesn’t get mixed up) and blanket. The hospital will likely be really cold too, so bring layers for yourself.
As a mom you’ll probably wake up constantly at night just to check on baby regardless of how you slept before! My daughter is four and I still do it! LOL. Definitely not as much but I think it’s a mom thing.😊
Use one ear plug! I did that while both of my kids were tiny babies. There's no doubt that you'll wake up when he cries (with or without ear plugs, IMO). You'll start to hear phantom cries, too. Sometimes I think I can hear one of them crying while I'm at work and they are at their grandparent's house 😊
It's crazy how the time flies ❤ I've been following you for at least 3 years, probably since your viral Day In a Life Office Job video. It feels to me like you started your TTC journey just yesterday 😅 and now the big day is just around the corner, I'm so happy for you! I wish you all the best ❤❤❤
I have a hard time falling asleep with noise, especially snoring. Definitely don’t recommend sleeping with earplugs, especially because you are going to be exhausted and they will hinder you from waking up to care for your baby. If the noises/snoring AJ makes keeps you up or hinders you from sleeping, I would recommend for a short time sleeping in separate rooms so you both are able to get the sleep you’ll both need.
Mom of 3 here. If you are delivering at a baby friendly hospital they are going to encourage you to do lots of skin to skin with baby boy after he’s born. I would recommend bringing something for you to get him in and out easily like the gown and maybe use the zip onsies to go home💙 Also I wouldn’t recommend earplugs while in the hospital. There will be a lot of nurses and doctors coming in to check in on you and baby within the 1st 12 hours after birth😅
I have been a light sleeper my whole life. I did not want to use ear plugs when I had my children so I started sleeping with a fan on for the white noise. It is a consistent sound and every little unnecessary noise doesn't wake me. They now have sound machines that can do this but I could not get used to them. My fan runs 365 days a year. lol
Hi Rachel ! Just wanted to warn you ( obviously you’re a different person and it can be different for you ) but I wanted to wear light colored pjs at the hospital and ended up bleeding through them and ruining them 😂 just wanted to let you know.. when you wear those cute light gray bottoms to watch out !! Haha 😅 good luck to you and AJ ! 🙏🏼
I’m a sensitive sleeper too. But with a newborn you’ll sleep through any noise. Thanks to the sleep deprivation. Don’t worry you’ll be able to hear ur baby cry. It’s a mom thing. My baby is 3 months old.
I think you get so sleep deprived you can sleep through more. Newborns make weird sounds no one seems to talk about too, lots of grunts lol. But I was able to sleep thru it out of exhaustion
Ouuu another update! 💕 you’ve been so consistent 😋 Hey, I was looking into maybe getting a mini crib. I was wondering what brand mini crib you guys got?
Im also a very light sleeper, and used to sleep with earphones in my hear with sleep hynosis playing, but to be very honest, your sleep changes when you have that tiny human, you will be so tired that you will sleep through any other noise except your babies noises, so i wouldnt stress about it too much for now
The acid reflux has been the WORST symptom for me too. Currently 40 weeks 6 days pregnant and I’m so ready for baby boy to get outta me so the reflux goes away!!
Bring a mini suitcase and leave the baby stuff in the diaper bag. It’ll be easier for you, AJ, and your nurse to find the things you need. I brought those same Target pajamas to the hospital, they were the best. Those disposable boy shorts from Frida Mom are outstanding, I wore them over an adult brief that was lined with an ice pad and Tuck’s pads, winning combo. The boy shorts kept everything close to my body, it made me feel dignified with my over sized band tee. I packed a portable sound machine and stroller fan for myself. I also brought my own blanket because it was so cold in the hospital. I found that laboring in a front closure sports bra was awesome, non-slip slippers too. Snacks and drinks, AirPods, a book. I was induced, so I did all of my laboring there vs at home and wanted some comfort and entertainment items to carry me into active labor.
I'm currently 19+1 weeks pregnant (ivf pregnancy after a decade of infertility ❤) and one of my biggest question is also how i'm gonna sleep without earplugs when baby comes because I can't sleep without them right now. Is there any chance that hormones will help me to sleep? 😅 You are doing a great job with these videos, Rachel! ❤️ (English is not my native language so If there is something weird in this message, it's because of that 😅)
I lived in my target nightgown that buttons to breast feed and skin to skin - they were the best!! Then a jumper from Amazon to go home with a hoodie and crocs - I was so dang comfy ahhah
Make sure you pack a portable/stroller fan!! The postpartum sweats are real. They also keep the postpartum rooms really warm for the baby and don't really want you to lower it, and I was sweating all over the place. Also, bring your own pillow because the hospital pillows are a joke 😂.
What is the recipe for the peanut butter and chocolate dates treat? So you just stuff the dates and freeze them? Sounds good but I never had dates before so, I’ll definitely try it out ha
If you have dental insurance they typically pay for 2 cleanings every 6 months. I look forward to the free toothbrush the dentist sends me home with each visit 😂! They are getting ridiculously priced in stores!
Thats very odd of target, with my first child I was able to return every single box of diapers we received as long as it was in its original box and not like a general box with the brand box inside (if that makes sense). Returned all the huggies and pampers for honest brand
Read up on second night syndrome! For some reason every baby has a terrible second night! I never knew about it but wish I was more prepared mentally going into it!
I would 1000% get some Silveretts and bring them to the hospital along with nipple cream if you’re going to breastfeed. Silveretts saved my nipples. Use them right away. I also brought my nursing pillow and it made it sooo much easier. I didn’t bring a pillow or blanket and just used the hospital ones.
Hello, I gave birth two weeks ago. My son sleeps in his room and I sleep in our bedroom next to his room so he only wakes me up when he makes louder sounds. This works for me as I am a light sleeper.
Great on the packing! Don’t pack more clothes for him! You’re good :) On the sleep - I’m a light sleeper too. You can’t stress about it. You will wake up a lot to the movements and sounds. God designed us for this. He can & will increase your sleep. It’s amazing how in those first few weeks, I didn’t feel like a slept a lot but I didn’t really feel that tired during the day. You will get used to it and you will sleep again! - from a mama of a 15 month old 🩷
30weeks now and I just started getting acid reflux :( do you (or anyone reading this) have tried & tested tips?? eating smaller/more frequent meals does NOT help me unfortunately
My sister gave birth in month 8 on her first pregnancy and I ended up having to buy the baby clothes and prepare her hospital bag and bought her PJs that have buttons for postpartum and breastfeeding 😂
So weird … usually target takes diapers sealed if you say you forgot/lost your receipt ? I’ve done it? You will only get store credit though. Maybe they changed it 😢
bring an extra bag/carry on thing for the free things the hospital gives you. everything for baby in your room you should be able to take home with you, do it!! trust me
You should take a warm blanket because hospitals are always so cold. Also instead of shorts try to wear a black sleep gown just in case anything leaks down there. I also advise you don’t call anybody to come to the hospital that first day you give birth, have some time just you, your baby and your husband.
I would 1000% get some Silveretts and bring them to the hospital along with nipple cream if you’re going to breastfeed. Silveretts saved my nipples. Use them right away. looks like you need to ditch the earplugs when baby arrives :) there is really no sleep when baby arrives :) it’s really tough but would be good to already expect that. feeding and sleeping are indeed the toughest parts of the 4th trimester
Your pregnancy flew by! It probably doesn't seem like that to you, but I swear you just posted your positive pregnancy video. I bet Target didn't take your diapers because they were packaged differently than how Target packages them. I have received packs of diapers that I wasn't sure where they were from, but ended up bringing them to Target to get a new size or brand and they accepted them because they looked the same as what they had on the shelves and they couldn't tell if they were from Target or not. Just an observation!
Girl “I don’t know why I’m so tired” but you’re growing a human! Pregnancy is so exhausting!!
Mom of 4 here and you did an amazing job packing your hospital bag! The zipper swaddle is so much easier than using a swaddle blanket. May God Bless You Rachel and Everytime you posts a new vlog it's put a huge smile on my face💗✨🥹🥹 and I will always be your biggest supportive
Love the bump. You look adorable. 30 weeks was my favorite time. I would also get so bloated by the end of the day.
I’m a sensitive sleeper too.
But with a newborn you’ll sleep through any noise. Thanks to the sleep deprivation. Don’t worry you’ll be able to hear ur baby cry. It’s a mom thing.

I feel like your hair is growing like crazy. How long are you going to let it get?
Try loop earplugs. They have different noise control. Something to try.
I think you get so sleep deprived you can sleep through more. Newborns make weird sounds no one seems to talk about too, lots of grunts lol. But I was able to sleep thru it out of exhaustion
I never miss a Rachel vlog!! Side note, I ordered some products from Ouai a few weeks back through your link and I’m obsesseddd! 😍
woohoo!! They really are amazing :)
Ouuu another update! 💕 you’ve been so consistent 😋 Hey, I was looking into maybe getting a mini crib. I was wondering what brand mini crib you guys got?
nestig!! we love it so far
Mom of 2. I’d pack a 3rd or 4th outfit (sleeper + onesie) in case of accidents, spit up, blow outs, etc. 😉

You don’t need a folder, we give you an orange folder with flyers from the hospital. You can put all your documents in that
Target has a pack of two up and up toothbrushes for 1.99
The photoshoot was iconic 👏
Happy Thursday, Rachael. ❤
Same to you!
Thats very odd of target, with my first child I was able to return every single box of diapers we received as long as it was in its original box and not like a general box with the brand box inside (if that makes sense). Returned all the huggies and pampers for honest brand
I SWEAR by bringing your own pillow!

Target changed their policy as of June 1 and you now need a receipt to exchange! FYI
Yay! Im so excited for you 🎉❤
Are you doing ok and safe with the hurricane situation?
Lady, where are you I as far as hurricane Milton goes? Are ya safe
Bring slippers and shower sandals!

one can never have too many LMNTs

made my night ❤😮💨
My sister gave birth in month 8 on her first pregnancy and I ended up having to buy the baby clothes and prepare her hospital bag and bought her PJs that have buttons for postpartum and breastfeeding 😂
Wowww that ring 💍
9 months tomorrow ❤
The jcpenny pictures made me laugh !!! Hahahahahahaha I am thumbs upping this video for that hahahaha
So weird … usually target takes diapers sealed if you say you forgot/lost your receipt ? I’ve done it? You will only get store credit though. Maybe they changed it 😢
Such a beautiful preggo ❤
Hey Rach, get yourself checked for gestational diabetes. Because excessive thirst is a symptom of it.
Are you able to link the shoes for high arches?
bring an extra bag/carry on thing for the free things the hospital gives you. everything for baby in your room you should be able to take home with you, do it!! trust me
Yay
Why do I feel like baby’s name is going to be Noah😂🤍
Rachel, this might sound crazy but worse case scenario could you sleep in the nursery/guest room with the baby while AJ sleeps in the bedroom? 🤷♀️

I’m also a really light sleeper. I would hear an ant´s fart …😂
Have you experienced the pregnancy nose? 😂😂 Where you get the most horrible sneezing fits which causes other issues lmao
Hello. Good luck all the best. Health! Have a beautiful, super, funny day. Bye. Rudi.
Which is the name of the baby? You're so beautiful pregnant ❤
Make sure u mention ur thirsty Ness to the doc , when I had that turns out I developed diabetes ! I'm sure ur good but wanted to say that
Your pregnancy flew by! Just an observation!
totally makes sense!! idk why i didnt think of that before wheeling them into the store lol!
Yay Rachel 😅🎉😂❤
I remember you used to not like the taste of water. Now you’re chugging it 😆
I still put lemon in it lol!
