Rachel, I just wanted to say I think you are doing an AMAZING job postpartum. So many women get so hung up when their birth or breastfeeding doesn’t go the way they imagined it would but you’re so wise to realize these things are mostly out of your control. It seems like you have such peace because you’re accepting what’s happening. And good for you advocating for what’s best for you and your baby and not forcing anything to happen that’s not best for your family. I wish I had handled things so well as a first time mom! And you’re so smart to divide up the sleeping time with AJ. I think you guys are ROCKING it!

I’m a first time mom to a 3.5 month old and your attitude and approach towards feeding is so healthy. Breastfeeding didn’t work out for us so I’ve been pumping exclusively. As a ‘just enougher’ I put so much pressure on myself to keep up with his needs that I’m still waking up every 3ish hours to pump even though he’s been sleeping through the night for weeks. I wish I could let that go and be ok with whatever would happen if I stopped but I just can’t bring myself to yet. But I have to commend you. You’re setting such a positive example showing that mom’s well being is just as important!

My Bubz is 4 months and I pump exclusively also! I love to hear about other mums doing the same because I always hear about either breastfeeding or formula. We do give my son formula sometimes for top ups because he has a big appetite even though I’m an overproducer, but I’m mainly breast pumping.

@@poohtimmy1you can go back and look at her videos! I was going through treatments along with her and it felt so good to have someone algo through this with me. Made me feel less alone. She went through 2 rounds of IUI and one successful IVF transfer. Unexplained infertility. I had to pause after my IUI cycle 2 because the doctors found a rapidly increasing fibroid that I had to first get removed and then wait 6 months to heal. But I went for my IUI cycle 3 in August and it was successful! Good luck to you, mama! Sending you lots of baby dust

Regarding small bottles - fully breastfed babies often don’t get more then 4oz at all. It’s just that unlike formula milk changes and gets fattier in the same volume. Hence no real increase in volume often

I’m exclusively pumping. My baby girl never latched. Shes 4 months now. I’m thankful my milk supply is still going. The first month and half was so hard. So please anyone reading this. It’s hard work exclusively pumping. You’re gonna want to quit but don’t give up. It’s only temporary. I promise it will get easier. My husband was such a big help too. The nights I was too tired to clean my parts he would do it for me and encouraged me to keep going.

Some thoughts as now a mom of 2:
Babies aren’t meant to know how to sleep by themselves. They’re not meant to fall asleep on their own so young. It’s okay if you hold them to sleep. It’s okay if you cosleep some nights. One day I promise you will wish you could rock them to sleep one more time.
You’re doing great and figuring things out. You got this!

The cheek to cheek! So sweet. I worked as a nanny for many years and then as a night doula: good for you for prioritizing your sleep and I hope this is encouraging - every drop of breastmilk holds all the benefits of antibodies, vitamins, etc and ultimately fed is best, there's no judgement either way just to say all breastmilk has great benefits! You're doing amazing!!

I’ve been a nanny for my whole adult life. The best thing to do with children is make a schedule. It’s one of the first things I implement with my kiddies. I’ve been with my current family for 4+ years. I stated when my oldest was 6 months. She didn’t have a real schedule before I came in (it was also 2020 and mom and dad were working at home with her so it was chaos). When baby brother was born, I took him when he was 5 weeks. I put him on a schedule right away and it is so nice. We also used huckleberry app bc mom was nursing and pumping. Hes a little over 2 now and the schedule is still going!

I am so impressed by how well you guys are taking everything in stride! You don’t seem flustered by the everyday motherhood challenges 😅 great to see! My baby was super colicky and I was hanging on by a thread at this point lol.
Agree that sleep before 4 months / sleep training is just surviving and doing the best you can. Things get way more predictable if you choose to sleep train. I am also a fan of schedules. Always important to be flexible when you have to, but following a nap/bedtime routine has helped us all immensely!

Here in Germany I was told by the nurses I don't have to apply diaper cream. Some babies don't get rashes without diaper cream. My baby quickly gets rashes with and without cream and despite being most of the time diaper free (with cloths catching urine). You just go and see what type your baby is. I recommend finding out when your baby poops and only put the plastic diapers on during that time of day. It's better when the skin can breathe. But then you need to check often and change the wet cloths.

    • @gracielabreit3168

Idk if I could be an exclusive pumper. I hated the pump soooo much. I just nursed around the clock and only pumped if I had to leave the baby.
Just a heads up… they don’t learn about to link sleep cycles until 4-6 months old which is why you can’t sleep train before then.
My first never took to sleep training and didn’t sleep through the night until 10 months.

I am so jealous you get 8 hours of sleep. I haven't been able to go past 4 hours uninterrupted yet when switching with my husband. I usually sleep from 9-1 or 10-2 and stay up for 6 hours while he sleeps. Then I take 1 or 2 naps during the day. How does that work for your husband waking up at noon with work? Mine is currently on paternity leave, but when he goes back he'll need to start his day much earlier.

Have you tried the bumco bum brush it's a lifesaver for rash cream and sunscreen it's silicone so it wipes off with a wipe and it keeps it off fingers and from under nails

Careful with those sleep sacks….and don’t use that style exclusively because our granddaughter had issues with her arms….she kept them in that up position because the sleep sack holds their arms like that. If we held her arm, it would go down but if we let go, her arms sprang to the up position again. We had to buy different styles that held her arms down. She was about 4 months old hen it started being obvious and took a couple of months to correct

For flange sizes you’re supposed to measure the diameter of your nipple, just the nipple not including areola, and then use that to find the size based on the size chart for the flanges your using! This might help more

This is exactly what I did with my baby. Pumping takes the soul out of you slowly. After half and half, I did mostly fórmula and a little breast milk, then at 3 months no more pumping and just a snacky snack on the breast😂. At four months she was starting solids. Be gentle on yourself ❤

I wanted to chime in that both Amazon Prime and Walmart Plus have 50% discounts for people receiving EBT or TANF. I think other things might qualify but not sure. So yeah I feel like they kind of keep the perk a "secret" lol. I try my best to inform others if it's relevant and since both were mentioned in this video it was! 😁
