Always a great discussion -- thanks @The 7th Rule !
An interesting discussion on a fun episode.
I thought it was interesting that Picard greeted the Antedians when they first arrived, which would indicate they were sentient if not conscious, but then referred to as if they weren't, which I thought was quite rude.
I wondered what was the point of the holodeck section, but Lwaxanna found it has its uses.
Lwaxanna can clearly detect more than either the Transporter or her daughter. Poor Troi!
Another great show! Now I have to go back and see Troi trip.😁

Fantastic episode! Great Review by Cirroc and Ryan, loved the FFA
I'm surprised that no one mentioned what was my favorite line: When Bob O'Reilly's character says to Dixon Hill: "Are you a private (pause) Dick?" I wonder how many takes of that line they had to do. 🤣
Cirroc should consider directing; he seems to have developed a talented eye for shot composition, cinematography, wardrobe, makeup and the like. His most insightful comments are about the behind-the-scenes production values of a particular shot. He brings real value as a critic who understands his craft, he's not just an actor.
And assuming most adults don't change that much in just a few years and he had his same artistic eye a few years ago as he does now, I wonder why he had such disdain for DS9 back when Aron and Ryan approached him about doing these T7R podcasts initially, where it was obvious he was just phoning in his first few watch-alongs. Since his enthusiasm now is as strong as his boredom was a few years ago I guess it makes me wonder: Does he just like TNG better?
Killer review of this kinda fishy episode!! Mystery and mayhem afoot, and that ever joyful Lwaxana Troi on the prowl. That woman loved to live and did it. Mr Homn, such a patient soul, it probably helps that he drinks more than Mick Fleetwood eats sardines. Too much fun. Lots of opinions in the FFA, and it is always interesting what people bring to the table, plus Mai had some fantastic rhyming trivioids!! ONE LOVE #ChatPack!
The Chalice of Rixx is a clay pot with mold in it.
the ability to talk during transport was established during star trek 2. So this is not the first time. Also my understanding is that for a normal transport a certain percentage of your body is at the source location and a certain percentage is at the destination and neither side is frozen. And it's possible that certain parts of your body will move back and forth more than once. In some ways it's kind of like a 3d cheese grater that slightly alters its shape and becomes more and more dense.
you actually exist as a complete being the whole time, just in 2 locations with the increasing percentage shifting location.
Tom Morrello from Rage Against the Machine made an appearance in VGR and even got a couple lines with the captain. He definitely got the better deal here. lol
oh yeah iggy pop. I forgot about him
yeah I thought that was Robert O'Riley. I usually skip this episode so I didn't realize. lol
❤❤❤❤
He's not the original Lurch. He's the movie Lurch.
Met him at a Chiller Theatre show about 20 years ago. He was also in Men in Black.
@@ahampel22 oh yeah! he is. wasn't he was of the "guardians" of the galaxy?
I got the impression he hasn't been back to dixon hill since season 1. Not even off screen. So it's perfectly fine that he doesn't get cigarettes and doesn't fill the role perfectly. This is only the 2nd time he's been in it. At least that's the impression I got. And it's not that you're watching Dick Tracy. It's the it's Picard Himself playing at Dick Tracy. And he's not an actor. He's a starship captain.
he's 7 feet tall
While I love Majel, Lawxana Troi bugs me. I get bogged down with sensory overload and she tends to trigger it. Especially in this one. In DS9 it's not as bad. But still the over the topness is a bit much for me. I like her better and Command Una Chin Riley (number one) in the original 1964 pilot. I like her better as Nurse Chappel. I like her better as the computer voice. It's like Riker said "I miss that voice".
I was grossed out the second Worf put his hands in the food. I hate that whole scene. YUCK!!!!!
Ryan, Ryan...Rixx and Rixx, it means nothing! Stick with the episode!
wow 6.1? crazy. I hate this episode. And to make it worse the local station played it all the freaking time. It's better than all of STD, but that's not saying much.
I don't like Dixon Hill. I don't understand the appeal. And it's even worse in HD because you can see all the dirt and grime. It's so unsanitary looking. I mean blowing up people in computer games is one thing, but a holodeck? yeah I don't really want that kind of violence at that point.
oh yeah I noticed her dresses. I'm like.......damn half this episodes budget was spent on her wardrobe, but she's WAY too over the top for me. Out of all of her appearances, this is my least favorite. She's much more manageable on DS9.
This the only lwaxana episode I didn’t like
