I still, however, haven't figured out The Last Baron. The rest of the album fits perfectly well. You can tell with the spacey sort of atmosphere that the album is special, and indeed it fits the intended mood. Remission, Leviathan and Blood Mountain had the themes of fire, water and earth; Crack the Skye moves to aether. What I like is that nobody told Mastodon they are a land animal. This shatters that idea. What's even cooler is the album may become a movie! Just for that, Mastodon WIN.
@Ridethelightnin69 wow i dont see many people who think Remission is their best, in my personal opinion they get better with each album Remission was great, Leviathan was amazingly awesome, Blood Mountain was nearly perfect and Crack the Skye is perfect, their next album will be the first one in history of music to get better than perfection itself
Crack the Skye is EXTREMELY complicated. It's about a quadriplegic who astral travels, but gets cut off from the world and is stuck in space-time. The Russians notice him when they are performing a divination, and he enters Rasputin's body. Then comes the Russian Revolution, and Rasputin is killed, so his soul guides the boy's through space. However, they run into Mephistophalian difficulties, while the boy's family discovers his apparently dead body. Easy 10/10.
