Abandoned medieval village in North Yorkshire (Wharram Percy)

In today's video I visit Wharram Percy which is an abandoned medieval village.
Mentioned in the Domesday book the village appears to have been most active between the 10th and 12th centuries.
Wharram Percy is one of the largest and best preserved of Britain's 3,000 or so known deserted medieval villages.

This must be related to the highland clearances as well. As soon as sheep became profitable, everyone got moved on! What a crime. That village would have been lovely.

Also about profit, not much has changed over the centuries haha
