    Probably the most under-rated band of classic rock’s first generation....Quicksilver needs to be in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame....

    • @lgaytan65
      @lgaytan65 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      I agree, but they had to make room for RUN DMC & Dolly Parton. The R&R Hall of Fame is so full of crap.
      These guys are what Rock & Roll was intended to be & not the crap that's out there today.

      Quicksilver Messager Service never compromised their music. As far as popular music, this song was the only that charted. Their album are killer. They were deeply loved in the San Francisco bay area. I saw them play, they were awesome. Dave in Sierra Vista AZ

    @fullfrontaltubeity I too was there ! ... down in front of the stage, sitting on the floor. People were passing "dubbies "everywhere...the smoke & haze were really thick ! The great Fillmore...West...To all of you who missed it....It was indeed an experience of a lifetime !! as was the great festival at Woodstock NY. in 1969. I was very fortunate being able to witness the whole evolution of Rock !!

    I saw these guys in 1968, in Miami beach, FL, while on a trip with my high school. They played in a former bowling alley that was converted to a "discotheque". It cost $3, I believe, for a ticket & the place was jammed. I was right up front, maybe 5 feet from the stage. Great performance & I remember it all these years later!

I was there, walking the Haight, 1967, fresh out of the navy...This music made an indelible imprint on my life, a wave of new and good things that came ever after. aurora, Great Job of cleaning the song up! I am from the 60's and can distinctly remember listening to Quicksilver Messenger Service on the radio and a teenager and having their albums. THEY WERE GREAT! The music from the 60's and early 70's will never be matched! I saw Hendrix in 1968' and he was good, a little stuffed(On Heroin), I think, but ok. That was the story of lots of the musicians in those days. Thanks so much once again aurora~~~~!...Peace & Love 67'.....Bring back the 60's!

      IMO, John Cippolina was a better 'God's on guitar than Eric Clapton. Pride of Man was one of my favorites. Caught them live 60s, 70s, numerous times. Usually on El Es Dee. Pre-strychnine laced.

    Quicksilver had it all, the compositions, chops galore, vocals covered, and fully realized in the ‘concept’ album: Just For Love. Copyright disputes and distribution questions led to some fractious sessions. Valenti was composing hits and continued a mostly solo path. Their live dates were recorded (if you can call it that) and rushed into print. Spotty recording, mixing, mastering plagued those releases. Band came to full flower (power) with addition of Nicky Hopkins on keys. Who also wrote some excellent tunes. Stones wooed Hopkins into their band and the letdown (both in Stones AND Quicksilver) of producers and agents ‘raiding’ the group siphoning talent spun them out. Some fabulous tracks laid by the band in their time. Cipollina, Valenti, Duncan and Hopkins formed core of all-time greatest acid band. And that absolutely includes Dead and Airplane. Distribution and promotion was sorely lacking, in addition to the pressured break-up.

    My wife and I visited the Hall of Fame. We came in thru a back door downstairs and while getting our bearings, soaking in the overload of memorabilia, I squinted at something far across the room. "That's John Cipollina's guitar!". I could have gone home right then and been happy. JC was a great, great one-of-a-kind player. My Copperhead album is in my sight right now.

    @slj66213 Bill Grahmn was from NY & est, Fillmore West in SF. &. East in NY.He brought together most of the sixties SF groups but also booked all of the top groups touring the country.There was a large area right in front of the stage where everyone sat to enjoy the music.The air was thick with the smell of reefer and soon one would be passed to you to pass along..Great music and times you would never forget. SF also had the Avalon Ballroom and Winterland in which to enjoy music venues..
