Based on the book If It’s Not Impossible…: The Life of Sir Nicholas Winton by Barbara Winton, ONE LIFE tells the incredible, emotional true story of Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton (Flynn), a young London broker who visits Prague in December 1938. In a race against time, Winton convinces Trevor Chadwick (Sharp) and Doreen Warriner (Garai) of the British Committee for Refugees in Czechoslovakia to rescue hundreds of predominantly Jewish children before Nazi occupation closes the borders. Fifty years later, Nicky (Hopkins) is haunted by the fate of the children he wasn’t able to bring to safety in England. It’s not until the BBC show “That’s Life!” re-introduces him to some of those he helped rescue that he finally begins to come to terms with the guilt and grief he carried - all the while skyrocketing from anonymity to a national hero.

This story always gets me right in the heart. Sir Anthony is clearly perfect for this part and the cast with him is amazing. On my 2024 list. Cheers!

So glad someone made this movie. This is one of the most, if not THE most, inspiring story to come from that obscenity in Europe back in the 20th Century.
I've seen his story on the side lines in other movies but glad theres a movie fully dedicated to him

Utter, utter briliance. Show this one to your kids, theres no swearing, no nudity, no violence though much trauma yet amazing inspiration, a piece of history that we forget about at our peril.
I had to come here to say. This movie was excellent and it affected me in a weird way lol it’s true story and it’s good to watch and at the end I cried and I felt like a bit of depression afterwards that I normally don’t get from a movie / documentary which shows how well done this is, how good the production is and how good of a person Nicholas Winton was and how his life is a story that deserves to be told to many. Nobody will really care about this comment but I just had to say this was phenomenal to watch.
It was a great film. I cried at the end too and normally don't cry at too many movies.

This was my favorite film from the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. Anthony Hopkins gives an extraordinary performance.

Sir Nicholas was an absolute hero with no desire for recognition. His story must be told. And who better to do it than Sir Anthony? I can’t wait to see and show this to my children.
This movie is amazing! So heartbreaking yet inspiring at the same time. This is an Era in time that we can not forget.

Just saw this film 🎥 it’s a must see. Tragic but uplifting; sad but triumphant. A masterpiece by Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Same.. When I was 11 years old I saw the original That’s Life program in the 1980’s about him, I cried along side my mother watching it….2 weeks ago I cried alongside my daughter watching this film.

I have read the story, and watched a few videos on this. It hits hard, VERY hard. A must see about the best, and worst, about humanity and how one person can make a difference.

Amazing movie, amazing cast, breathtaking, heartbreaking, and all-inspiring story from history. Humanity is disappearing from our world today, this is a nice reminder who we are (and should be). To stand up against evil and hate like he did back then.

Just saw this tonight in an advance screening. If you like Schindler's list, you will definitely like One Life. It's not as graphic as most movies invlolving the German occupation of WW2, so it's a great history lesson for kids too. Anthony Hopkins is getting up there in age, but he can still act well.

David Suchet related this story as part of the 2022 Tabernacle Choir special, including having Nick Winton talk. When I was watching that this last Christmas, I wondered why has no one made a movie of this. With all the stupidity they put on the screen, they can't put something good? Guess I should have just waited a few months before I thought that. And no one could do it better than Sir Anthony. I know I won't be able to watch this, but I will be glad it exists.

I have seen video of the actual TV show portrayed in in this movie. SPOILER ALERT!!! When Nicholas turns around he sees that almost the entire audience has stood up.
He is perfect for this marvelous story!!!!! He is my very favorite!! But I am a bit disappointed that Helena is in it too. I’m probably the only person who dislikes her and Olivia Coleman immensely. They seem to be in everything lately, like there are no other actresses in England.
Helena ruined Sweeney Todd, and was horrible in the Crown. And don’t get me started on Olivia…..Although I didn’t mind her in Broadchurch.
My husband and I are American and love all things in British movies and programing due to the failure of America to produce anything of quality and depth with classically trained performers.
Our so called actors were all created and hyped up.
Looking forward to seeing the brilliant Anthony Hopkins.
If you watch the series Our Grandfather's War, Helena Bonham Carter's grandparents saved Jews in France while he was a Spanish diplomat. He helped the Jews get Visas to go to Spain. Even against orders from his government.
It's a very moving trailer... I hope it will be available in the US at some point (Though I imagine that any theater will be at risk from the Pro-Hamas Useful Idiots rioting)

No. They took the train from Prague to a ferry and then transferred to another train to resume their trip to London.

Much as I admire AH, I can't stand these dramatisations. There's plenty of real-life film documentary on the subject without giving it the luvvy HB-C treatment. The English are obsessed with theatrical spectacle. Reality exists!
