This arrangement has followed me around forever. (I'm OK with that). This was the first thing I wrote for the Lab Bands during my 2nd year at UNT. Prior to then, I had started writing for big band at the University of Iowa which had very strong writers John Shifflett and Ed Sarath in the band. At Iowa our band and music was very different. This video is a great performance. My favorite moment is the direction the music takes at the piano solo. I never would have thought of that. I love it. The power of music, don't worship it, make it live.
Went to Denton High School in the ‘80s and my best friend and I would occasionally skip school after lunch just to watch the one o’clock rehearse
