Beautiful vise. You made this super quality Starrett vice look even nicer. The repair of the broken base flange looks great. It would have been instructive to see how that was done. A vise like this would be a pleasure to use. Thanks
Sweet. It looks like you are missing the spring tensioning parts for the spindle. That removes most of the movement in the slide. Nice job getting it fixed up.
I think the screw lever should not be painted - the paint will be damaged very quickly and it will look unsightly. And how did the broken eye on the bed become whole? You have deleted a lot of work stages, it’s better to show them, maybe at a high speed. Video editing is not perfect yet. I think this video should have been made for about fifteen minutes, the typical length of a video about vise repair. ;) In any case, you did a good job with a great vice, congratulations.
What a magnificent vise, and a proper restoration. Congrats on your find. This year I purchased a Wilton 4" Jaw Machinist bullet vise which I really, really enjoy - but it is utterly dwarfed by the Starrett! It would never fit in my shop. Ha ha!!
Hi, thought to ask you where did you get the jaws for that vise cause I have exactly the same kind of visa, and I'm looking for jaws to replace on my vise?

Isn't that split pin that holds puts the tension on the spindle spring and washers a b* to get in? It took me 30 minutes on my 925, with 15 minutes of cussing added. Nice work.

Nice resto. I have a 924 to restore, I was wondering where you found your jaw inserts. Been having trouble finding the L shaped inserts. Thanks. Dan.

Wow that is a huge vise.. Does anyone 🤔 know how much it weighs?..
175 lbs....I have one I just put up for sale
It's 225 lbs with the swivel base.
Перчатки рабочие изобрели, слышали?
It was worth more unpainted.
