One of the problems is the very real possibility that no one in the NFL may want the Jets coaching job. If that's the case then the team may not be able to give itself the luxury of overlooking successful college coaches.
Go get vrabel until the end of this Rodgers circus thingy that’s the only thing can maybe straighten the current team for next year then worry about what to do next
Definitely an interesting option. I agree, I don't think he'd leave. There are few things better than being a successful HC at a top football program. You're basically royalty in that town. Plus he gets paid like 8 or 9 million a year. If I was a young, successful coach that constantly had my team ranked and had a steady flow of talent committing to play for me, AND I'm making great money, I'd stay until the perfect opportunity presented itself. And if I did make a move, you'd need to give me a hell of a lot more in salary to make me want to do it.
Yeah, I agree, these guys on the Jets are NOT IMPRESSIONABLE COLLEGE AGE KIDS. iT'S A BIG JUMP FROM COLLEGE TO THE Nfl. gET A GUY WHO'S BEEN A hc IN THE NFL
Johnson’s shouldnt meddle with the HC hiring. Only thing they should do is hire a pres of football ops. Let the pres hire the GM, and the GM hire the coach
The Jets just can't figure it out. They always go after all the buzz and what's popular. They see something that's relevant and try to take it and slap a Jets logo on it.
I’m 67 same old disaster. I hope the next group of coaches and team leaders will have a positive impact on My BELOVED Jets since 1969 it has been mostly all bad. 20 different coaches since 1975 I watch every game to the end no matter what the score is! I along with fans my age need to see something different. God forbid we make the playoffs or dare I say super bowl. Before us older fans depart this earth. Let’s go Jets
Bro you should go live for the rest of the day. They just fired Douglas! Would not be surprised if Ulbrich resigns. I could totally see Rogers not coming back after the bi week.
Oregon Ducks? The chasm between the college game and the pro game is massive. You're talking about an inexperienced NFL head coach taking the reigns here? Great for him but what he's familiar is the collegiate game. No. Let's not mess this up from the get go.
It does not matter who the Jets hire as a coach because Woody Johnson is a meddler. The ideal situation would be if Woody sells the team. Alas if that is not going to happen I would choose either Brian Flores or Aaron Glenn.
I don't think college is the place to star especially with so many capable candidates within the NFL. Get a big star coach in for a couple years and then start to look for a young college or pro assistant with attitude to take over.
I live 12 miles from where the Ducks play. Zero % chance Lanning leaves Oregon. His family loves it here and he has 3 school age children he wants stability for. Ducks are king and completely supported by Phil Knight. He would be a great NFL coach but will be in Oregon for the next 5-10 years.
He may be a great prospect but this team needs a guy with an established NFL resume who can build an all star staff. Maybe you can sell Aaron Glenn because he's a homegrown guy with a Jets pedigree but I'm looking more for a Gruden or even Rex with a top O coordinator running the show on that side of the ball & a staff in place with the focus on developing a young QB. I've heard Brian Flores mentioned but I'm not so sure about him. Obviously there's Vrabel but I also like Kingsbury a lot % think he should be a consideration. Stefanski is a guy that would be tops on my list if he's let go but if not I really would love to see a John Gruden redemption tour come to Florham Park. My biggest fear would be Mike McCarthy getting fired & him being the guy we bring in... if that happens I'm officially done with this organization.
As long as woody is involved is going to be a long hard roaddo u believe we are a great coach away I don t we needed a great kick er. And a better defence plus the media plays a big part
I want a proven coach who won a superbowl or at least got his team to the playoffs. I just don't think guys like that we could get to come here, maybe, but these first-time head coaches have never worked out for us.
I Ian I know you need a HC but all these videos of jet podcasters is getting a little crazy. My neighbor used to coach high school football. Are you guys gonna make a video on him. If I'm not mistaken still 7 weeks to go in season.
Nice new intro. Id rather give this guy an assistant coaching job. Can we please get an experienced NFL guy. For the love of God i really dont want to be talking about hiring another coach in 3 years
Pete Carroll or Ben Johnson are my 1st choices. I'd take Rex or Gruden (because of their passion for toughness and their experience) in my second tier. Third tier Vrabel (mostly cause I don't want a defense guy.
No top coaching prospect will not want to come to a dysfunctional organization like the Jets with a 40 year old over the hill quarterback. The Jaguars job with Lawrence is much more attractive.
Get an experienced coach!!!! Im done with coordinators and college coaches ... get someone that has experience.. if its not Vrabel, Rex, or someone in that mold... I dont care..
Sorry but no rising college level wannabe NFL head coaches no first time coordinators Solid proven tough head coaching candidates only experimentation time is over let them go experiment elsewhere For once i would like to see ownership do something right and hire a director of operations who has had success building a staff with coaching expirence being the main focus
No. No more college coaches. Get experience coach. I’m tired of these coordinators
When was the last time we even had a college coach? What a silly thing to say
He knows how to draft and evaluate
One of the problems is the very real possibility that no one in the NFL may want the Jets coaching job. If that's the case then the team may not be able to give itself the luxury of overlooking successful college coaches.
Nooooo
He’s not a coordinator 🤦🏻♂️
Nope, seasoned veteran coach to re-establish culture. Sick of these rookie NFL head coach prospects. We’re the jets, so they never work out here
You're an absolute disgrace!!!
Gruden, Vrabel or Rex Ryan. Thats my list
Let’s go baby can’t lose this week
lets goooo
Or can we? 😳
As a ducks fan - Lanning isn’t leaving. He had the opportunity to go to Alabama, among other schools, and refused to, to continue building Oregon up.
NO COLLEGE COACHES - NYC must get an established head coach !
I just want Agnew as GM. Brian Flores as HC also doesn’t sound terrible depending on the offensive coaches he brings
Go get vrabel until the end of this Rodgers circus thingy that’s the only thing can maybe straighten the current team for next year then worry about what to do next
I think Oregon has a special NIL program which attracts top high school prospects
The first of many rumors with the Jets.
Definitely an interesting option. I agree, I don't think he'd leave. There are few things better than being a successful HC at a top football program. You're basically royalty in that town. Plus he gets paid like 8 or 9 million a year. And if I did make a move, you'd need to give me a hell of a lot more in salary to make me want to do it.
Ian if I were the Jets I wouldn't go anywhere near him you need an experienced coach who's done it before and who's won! 🏈🏈
Yeah, I agree, these guys on the Jets are NOT IMPRESSIONABLE COLLEGE AGE KIDS. iT'S A BIG JUMP FROM COLLEGE TO THE Nfl. gET A GUY WHO'S BEEN A hc IN THE NFL
The coaches that are succeeding in the nfl are teams that implement college type plays
Doesn’t mean much but he does have ties to Jermaine Johnson. When the jets did the piece on Jermaine on their TH-cam Lanning was featured.
Johnson’s shouldnt meddle with the HC hiring. Only thing they should do is hire a pres of football ops. Let the pres hire the GM, and the GM hire the coach
I have mentioned this several times. Kirby Smart would also be an interesting look.
My question is why would Dan Lanning leave? He already makes NFL HC money in Oregon. I wouldn’t buy into this.
The Jets just can't figure it out. They always go after all the buzz and what's popular. They see something that's relevant and try to take it and slap a Jets logo on it.
I’m 67 same old disaster. He would get chewed up and spit out here unfortunately.
AGREED !
Bring em in
It doesn’t hurt to ask. You never know, they might say Yes.
Absolutely not. We need a coach who has been in the NFL before.
The fact that some Jets fans want Gruden as a coach over someone like Lanning... Sometimes you get what you deserve!
Gruden is better !!!
Jets just fired GM Joe Douglas
We want a Mike Tomlin...but I'm holding out for Belichick, at least as a bridge to building the organization and establishing a franchise culture.
Hot take: How about we Just hire his OC Will Stein who is proving to be one of the bright offensive minds in football
No more coaches without nfl experience, we need Rex back he will bring back that fire and hold players accountable, Rex also wants to be here
It does not matter who the Jets hire as a coach because Woody Johnson is a meddler. The ideal situation would be if Woody sells the team. Alas if that is not going to happen I would choose either Brian Flores or Aaron Glenn.
Ngl I think Dan planning is a really good coach I wouldn’t be that mad if they hired him but I do like vrabel a lilttle bit more
Definitely don't want nobody from college especially for the Jets
If it’s the Jets - I need this person should be nothing more than an assistant to the OC. I need a proper HC, and a proper OC
I want Rex!!!!! However I want Rex on a more than 3 year deal… If we “rebuild”
Honestly it’s Vrabel, Glenn and Kliff before the rest .i want someone who has a lot experience coaching to be the head coach of this football Team.
I like lannnings aggressiveness I think I would sign up for this move if it happens
No
Than your really one of those toxic jet fans who knows nothing about football … get back in the kitchen
Marvin Lewis!
Arthur Smith should be considered
No😂
Lanning would be out of his element, though. The more successful they are at a lower level the more difficult for HCs to transition into the NFL.
I don't think college is the place to star especially with so many capable candidates within the NFL. Get a big star coach in for a couple years and then start to look for a young college or pro assistant with attitude to take over.
We need a experienced HC
Need someone established!!
Sounds subjective
Lanning isn't going to the NFL anytime soon. He is building something special at Oregon.@ThomasT3
Joe Douglas has been fired
He may be a great prospect but this team needs a guy with an established NFL resume who can build an all star staff. Maybe you can sell Aaron Glenn because he's a homegrown guy with a Jets pedigree but I'm looking more for a Gruden or even Rex with a top O coordinator running the show on that side of the ball & a staff in place with the focus on developing a young QB.

My biggest fear would be Mike McCarthy getting fired & him being the guy we bring in... if that happens I'm officially done with this organization.
He'd be an interesting candidate. But I don't think he's leaving. He has no reason. It's a way less stressful job than NFL coaching.
Vrabel
Am not that familiar with Dan Lanning. However, Jets need an experienced NFL HC. Dan Lanning might be good, but, he still needs some development.
Joe Douglas fired.
Dan Lanning
As long as woody is involved is going to be a long hard roaddo u believe we are a great coach away I don t we needed a great kick er. And a better defence plus the media plays a big part
At least we wont have to draft a QB, Jets have a Gabriel vlone in Travis Jordan
I am a ducks 🦆 fan also you seriously think he’d leave Oregon for the jets not a chance
Who's intrigued the jets or generally in the NFL? And if jets who's suggesting it to woody Johnson
JD has been fired
I want a proven coach who won a superbowl or at least got his team to the playoffs. I just don't think guys like that we could get to come here, maybe, but these first-time head coaches have never worked out for us.
I
Ian I know you need a HC but all these videos of jet podcasters is getting a little crazy. My neighbor used to coach high school football. Are you guys gonna make a video on him. If I'm not mistaken still 7 weeks to go in season.
I concur
Cannot afford to take a chance on another guy with no NFL head coaching experience. Need a Vrabel/Rex Ryan type guy who has proven they can win games.
No first time coaches, please
NO! Stay at Oregon
NO STAY AWAY FROM COLLEGE COACHES
No thank you
No college guys.
The NFL doesn’t need another Brian Kelly…only the Fn Jets!! What a complete disaster of an embarrassment!!
No top coaching prospect will not want to come to a dysfunctional organization like the Jets with a 40 year old over the hill quarterback. The Jaguars job with Lawrence is much more attractive.
As long as the johnsons remain owners this team will never be successful
They used to say as long as the fords owned the lions they would never win. The fords still own the Lions
The Jets are straight goofy 🤪. Why not get somebody from the NFL?
Why would he want to leave a Winning Culture to go to the worst Culture?
Elon musk needs to buy the team from woody
We will pass
Get an experienced coach!!!! Im done with coordinators and college coaches ... get someone that has experience.. if its not Vrabel, Rex, or someone in that mold... I dont care..
Why would a guy like that, want to come here? Realistically....I do not think so. Not with Woody as Owner.
Sorry but no rising college level wannabe NFL head coaches no first time coordinators
Solid proven tough head coaching candidates only experimentation time is over let them go experiment elsewhere
For once i would like to see ownership do something right and hire a director of operations who has had success building a staff with coaching expirence being the main focus
Get a GM 1st
How about that
Not another first time head coach
He ain’t going anywhere.
No college coaches. They never work out
Plz no. Not for the jets
Forever rebuild.
Just get Agnew and Glenn out of Detroit. Glenn is great at motivating his players and is a Parcells guy. Agnew is ready for a GM job. No college guys.
I would try Arthur Smith, too.
Call Gruden
🫶
Lanning is too young
Penn State's James Franklin would be awesome!
He smells
Mike McCarthy. Please. So that Aaron Rodgers can actually lead us to a winning season next year. And bring back the 1998-2018 helmets, too.
Hire rex ryan for the next head coach
