As I have said before, I lived just a few blocks behind the Rathaus and near Votivkirche renting a room in an apartment (hausfrau and adult daughter) and a second student in a side room. It was affordable and I’m sure we paid the hausfrau’s living expenses. Looking back, that I was so close to Ringstrasse was amazing. I remember the Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst set us up in the apartment. I wonder if a young foreign exchange student today would be so lucky, or would they need to go much further out of the city for affordable rent. At any rate, if you are a parent and have children of college age, sending them abroad (to a non-English speaking country) for a year would be a life-changing experience. Peace to all.

Meine ehemalige Heimat Wien bin dort geboren und aufgewachsen jetzt wohne ich seit 3 jahren hier im schönen Kärnten und ich muss sagen das mir Wien ab und zu echt abgeht
Mir fällt auf, daß in der Wiener Innenstadt deutlich weniger Menschen als hierzulande mit dem Mobiltelefon in der einen Hand und ständig auf dieses starrend, um ja nichts zu versäumen, oder mit irgendwelchen Leuten telefonierend zu Fuß unterwegs sind.

Yes, the video is good and the impressions of Vienna have changed, when I was in Vienna everything was gray and it seemed somehow dreary.
