My 2016 gets 25 MPG consistently. I've put nearly 12k on it since Dec. I Love this vehicle! (I have the 2.4 L engine). I paid 22,700 out the door. The only thing I had to get used to, was a much smaller cargo area. My 2004 Escape was way bigger.
Hay Iven, one of the better Patriot reviews, thanks, I picked up a 14 patriot and put a 2" lift on it and got a pleasant surprise, it got better looking and feeling (full 12" ground clearance), yap its a jeep, thanks
Patriots don't have a 10" ground clearance stock. In fact the ground clearance is more around 8 to 9 inches stock (depending on model). So, you would need 3 or 4 inch lift at least, not 2inch, to get a 'full 12" ground clearance'.
(2016 Patriot) I took this on a road trip and hated it. You have to push the engine so hard to get it to do anything, it loves the dirt and gravel; but it hates steep grades. When I got in it felt like the cabin was overpressurized and it eventually gave me a headache. The radio/audio is nice, but the older escape's have a better sound setup. The windshield wipers are slow and useless in heavier rain, If you use the rear hatch; you will constantly hit your head on the interior trim. the steering is also a little too tight, it gives you this feeling that if you corner too quickly that understeer is biting at your heels. Sloppy And Numb Are Two Great Words To Describe The Steering
Actually the Jeep Patriot is AWD. Sure, most people think 'It's a Jeep, it must be 4WD', but, it's not. It is nice that you can lock the center diff so you get a 50/50 front/rear split. This can help in some situations. But, in reality the patriot is AWD (or you could call it 'full time 4wd'). It splits power to different wheels based on road conditions, like AWD vehicles do. True 4WD trucks have a 2WD & 4WD option. Most people with true 4WD drive mostly in 2WD, unless there is adverse weather or traction conditions. This is to save gas not using 4WD all the time. Proper 4WD offroad trucks will also have a 4WD low gear for added torque at low speeds and crawl control. Overall, the patriot is essential just an AWD with the option to send 50% power equally to both front a rear.
i bought the 2015 version of this, and love it because it looks like an SUV, not a car hybrid, like some of these newer compact suvs or crossovers.
Very good review and spot on...."there's really only one Jeep."...How true!!!!!!

For the price I don't hesitate to hit the dirt in it.

Is the steering feel as numb in this Jeep as it is in the Wrangler? Is the steering sharper in the Patriot?

It's 4WD not AWD there's a big difference
