팔만대장경의 경판을 한 장씩 전부 쌓으면 백두산 보다 높다. 그 방대한 양의 경판은 마치 한 사람이 새긴 것처럼 판각 수준이 일정하고 오자나 탈자도 거의 없다. 인고의 시간과 엄청난 노력이 필요한 팔만대장경을 몽고와의 전쟁 중에 어떻게 만들었을까. 또한 그렇게 완성된 경판은 한 장씩 지금의 해인사로 이운이 되었는데, 그 과정은 아직까지도 비밀에 싸여있다. 천년이 지난 지금도 썩거나 부서지지 않은 채 살아 숨 쉬고 있는 팔만대장경, 풀리지 않는 미스터리를 가진 팔만대장경을 자세히 들여다보자.
