But over the last couple of years, the more music theory I've learned, the more my palette has grown and those artists kept coming up until finally I broke down and listened. ' The Winner Takes it All' was actually the first song I heard that made me forget about that "disco sound" and see what great songwriting I had missed out on. I've been waiting for Stories to do it and as always, you guys blew my expectations away ❤✌
Disco was early techno, all club music, but the difference was in the 1970s they transition from the 1960s were songwriting was insane. So so much talent in the '70s.
Benny and Björn’s songs were way more sophisticated than most critics ever gave them credit for, and Agnetha and Anni-Fred’s chemistry was otherworldly. And the production of it all was always really clever. It wasn’t just pop music. That’s just how it was packaged.
Quite beautiful, talented musicians and a very sensitive performance of one ABBA's most poetic songs. It has given the lyrics the reflective perspective that draws out the feelings of the oft felt break up moments we all experience. Thank you

Ho my god I've listed to literally dozens of covers of this beautiful emotional song that I loved when it came out & still love it but wow Phoebe how you sing this is off the scale & how you do your own thing with it is simply stunning it choked me up can express enough of how good you sang this song

Except I just realised what makes this cover so wonderful is not just the wonderful music and voice. It’s the way the singer captures the meaning and feelings of the song so perfectly. It proves once again that it takes more than just a great voice to be a great singer!
