I think that’s why Mike is the person that he confides in about his “now memories” without hesitation. (Joyce, for example, has to bring out the shadow monster tracing to get him to open up). Mike is the one who notices him shutting down when he has to go into the lab, while Lucas and Dustin shrug it off as Will always being quiet. Mike is also the person who thinks to check on Will when he doesn’t show up for school and realizes that they need to get the shadow monster out of Will before they close the gate. He also understands that Will is being used as the spy. Because Mike doesn’t treat Will like he’s going to break, he is more in tune when something is actually wrong. Will is also the only person he tells about thinking that he’s seeing Eleven.
