Funnily enough I'm booked on a flight to Fuerteventura in a week's time, so this video's really built my stoke. Quick question as it's the first time flying with my MTB, the say to deflate tyres for the flight, do I need to take pressure out my shocks?
I'd recommend La Palma in the Canary Islands for MTB, it's got incredible trails and never busy and the island needs tourism especially now due to the impact from the volcanic eruption there in 2021!
Fuerteventura is imho the most underestimated island of the canaries. Just built different. Been there first in 2009 with my pg wing for ground training and to chill out. Loved it. Might do a revisit on bike as well. Thx.
I could use a bit of sunshine at the moment. Great memories of a trip to Gran Canaria but also to the sunburn of my life after bonking and being up in the mountains much too long.
That looked a stunning ride Rich Loved the man made path through the volcano rock field. Looking forward to seeing what these epic rides/challenges you have planned for 2023 👊 Awesome stuff #GMBN 🤘
I think as a cameraman for Rich Payne, you may need to undergo the "Rich Payne Pain and Gains Management Course" so as you are able to handle the punishment. Rich saving that little goat and having it baa as if to say thank you just gives you the feels, nice one Rich.
Literally just got back from Fuerteventura with the kids and the whole week there I was wishing I had my bike with me. Great vid and loved the pronunciations 🤣
Great video. Had some of the best Surf’s of my life in Fuerteventura. Brings back great memories of surfing Lobos, the little island in the background in the days when the boat went over once a day! Looks great for biking too.
Great vid, and top marks for the goat recuse 👍🐐 next time you fancy a winter get away try Portugal check out The Algarve Bike Challenge for a taste of the MTB/XC that you can expect.
I did your ride solo in reverse recently. Followed a route from Garmin which took me over the full length of that soft sand at the beginning 🤣! It was tough going, probably would have bailed to the road too if it was at the end of my ride. Great content Rich, check out a Sur-ron tour with Marc next time you visit, they're a hoot!
Do you guys want to pop over to New Zealand for some “winter sun” . I’m in Wanaka on the South Island, we some epic riding to suit all levels. Everything from serious down hill to gravel epics- I’d love to show you around!
Looked like some fun riding, but I'll second the suggestion of La Palma. I think you may enjoy the trails there more, they are incredible. My son and I got an incredible tour from the team at MountainRide La Palma, best day on the bike ever. I was just watching the footage from Trans Madeira, and the trails we rode in La Palma look very similar to the epic stages on Madeira.
What a nice ride! :) I have same tyres on my gravel/monster cross bike. Works really well, even though I'm not riding tubeless. Next you should head to Finland for some winter adventure fun! 😁
Nice, good job with that goat !! Imagine more than 20ºC? In winter ... sun ... even for a continental Spanish that is a dream in winter ... well I live in the north so no sun today ... and no sun in the week end but nice scenery. Yellow has gone, green is back.
@@gmbn Maybe you should do a series of short winter break ideas for MTB’ers, with video like your Fuerteventura trip. I would find that very informative.
Looks amazing, the scenery, the trails, the weather, love it, maybe i will go there one day, definitely a great way to ride in winter if it is too cold at home. I saw you got your bike on the plane in a bag, a more detailed video on how to transport the bike via plane/train would be great and what we need for that, what needs disassembling and the tools/protection needed to safely transport the bike and lastly is it safe and how expensive was it? Thanks, that garmin 1040 was it? its on my to buy list since using the phone with Strava is stressing my battery a bit too much... Thank you for the video!
Not connecting ur garmin to ur phone when riding makes a significant difference to garmins battery. Then just connect for a few mins once finished riding to upload ride.
Of course you sliced your tyre. You are riding Vittoria skin wall, they puncture just by someone looking at them. Great ride however! What kind of transport solution are you using to ensure a high end bike arrives safely at your destination?
Those vittoria race tires are s*it, I had them until puncturing the sidewall just by dropping a bike on some pointy root. XC-Trail version is amazing tbh, but that tanwall XC-Race never again!
Ma guy has finally embraced being bald It happened to me at 17 now 32 Living the stream line lifestyle! God made only few perfect heads The rest he put hair on! Peace
Agreed. Rich has a good melon for the streamlined look. My grape, however, has quite an odd shape; thankfully genetics provided me with a 'rug to sweep it under.'
Have you got any epic adventures planned? Tell us all about it down below! 👇
Yes complete some 100 km ride or better next year this kind of video related the best of what i normal most xc style rides.
I live near the seven stains trails and I’m going to try the challenge Rich did. It might be easier because they are my local trails.
Great idea and good luck William! 🙌

Australia itself is an adventure every day
Fantastic video as always! Rich is the GOAT - of saving nice little creatures.

Great budget adventure, more stuff like this please😊
More to come!
GMBN... Global Mountain Billy goat Network🤟
Thank you Rich for clarifying “Dropping a big one tomorrow” meaning a ride. Context is always the most important part! 😅
You got it! 😉🤣
Thank You Brother for helping that goat. Good on you. Epic Adventure !
What a really kind guy to go out of your way to help that little goat
Rich makes the best adventure videos!
🙌
I'd recommend La Palma in the Canary Islands for MTB, it's got incredible trails and never busy and the island needs tourism especially now due to the impact from the volcanic eruption there in 2021!
For sure! La Palma is such a great place for riding!
Just planned vacation too fueteventura, im glad there are beautiful trails too ride there.
Fuerteventura is imho the most underestimated island of the canaries. Just built different. Been there first in 2009 with my pg wing for ground training and to chill out. Loved it. Might do a revisit on bike as well. Thx.
Love these adventure videos from Rich!
Glad you like them!
Awesome video. Great scenery and a goat rescue as well. True adventurer for sure. Well done GMBN for this excellent content.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
3:12 I think the goat said "Safe riding" XD
Hey GMBN, thanks for making me want to go out more and ride my bike. 😊
So sick
🙌
My man Rich! Saving the goat AND bringing back Crocs! 🐐🐊
Absolute legend! We need more Rich Paynes in this world! 😂
Great vid 😀
Awesome!
Si would have cringed in fear with the site of that poor goat hung in the fence. Great job Rich.
I could use a bit of sunshine at the moment. Great memories of a trip to Gran Canaria but also to the sunburn of my life after bonking and being up in the mountains much too long.
Such a welcome break this one! Thanks GMBN! 🤘🏻
Thanks, Matt! We're stoked you enjoyed this!
Sick video👍
🤘
Great video 😃 Great Location 😃 another holiday destination 😃 maybe next year ❤
Thanks, Anita! It has got to go on the holiday shortlist, for sure!
That looked a stunning ride Rich
Loved the man made path through the volcano rock field.
Looking forward to seeing what these epic rides/challenges you have planned for 2023 👊
Awesome stuff #GMBN 🤘
Thanks, Ross! We had a great time exploring Fuerteventura! Rich has some very exciting challenges in the works for next year, so stay tuned! 👀
Riding with Lavatrax in April. Shuttled to near top of volcano then downhill back to the coast 👌
Looking good Rich. 👏👍👍
The GOAT of MTB! 😉😂
This was rad!!!
This looks awesome. I want some winter sun right now!
Thanks, David! Treat yourself to a little riding holiday! 😉
Another great vid to get the juices flowing ... heading to Morocco week before crimbo to check that out.
Freaking awesome dude! Love it!
Glad you enjoyed it! Rich smashes this ride!

From now on known at 'THE GOAT' ...Nice one Rich...looked stunning. Just booked Madeira for next year and can't wait now.
been there for kitesurfing and surfing!! definately looks awesome for riding!
Great video. Had some of the best Surf’s of my life in Fuerteventura. Brings back great memories of surfing Lobos, the little island in the background in the days when the boat went over once a day! Looks great for biking too.
Hey Dominic! It's brilliant for surfing, isn't it?! Thanks for watching! 👊
I'll be riding Christmas Day in Lanzarote. Love winter sun.
I can't go around the corner for what they went to another country for. Props to the camera guy!!!! Great job.
Come to Ainsa in Northern Spain. Happy to show you around.
wow!
Great video
great content, well done.
Cheers, Mark! We're stoked that you enjoyed this one!
I did this a couple of weeks back in Gran Canaria. Great biking and cheap
Heading out to Playa Blanca for a week in march and booking a days riding while there, hopefully will be just as stunning as the one you did 🤟🤟
Great vid, and top marks for the goat recuse 👍🐐 next time you fancy a winter get away try Portugal check out The Algarve Bike Challenge for a taste of the MTB/XC that you can expect.
Come to South Africa
Amazing trails in Cape Town, stellenbosch, sabie and the Drakensberg
Tygerberg trails in cpt I miss... Loved them
Rich, the goat whisperer!
Rich, you look good with the shaved look!
I did your ride solo in reverse recently. Followed a route from Garmin which took me over the full length of that soft sand at the beginning 🤣! There is no alternative if you want to loop, inly the highway. Many people with offroad bikes end up in the sand. 😂

Damned fine Garmin ad.
Rich, you look so bad ass with your hair cut. Canary Island's fit it too. Rock on!! And you saved a goat.
Haha, people still end up in the sand dunes in the NW of Fuerte! Thanks Komoot, that road is undoable…. 😂
Love them Shimano xc7 shoes Rich, I have just got a pair.
Great choice!
OTB good on ya rich.
What a nice ride! :) I have same tyres on my gravel/monster cross bike. Works really well, even though I'm not riding tubeless. Next you should head to Finland for some winter adventure fun! 😁
Thanks for the support! It sounds like we need to do a fat bike epic in the snow! 😉
Nice, good job with that goat !! Imagine more than 20ºC? In winter ... sun ... even for a continental Spanish that is a dream in winter ... well I live in the north so no sun today ... and no sun in the week end but nice scenery. Yellow has gone, green is back.
Sick vid!
I've always got mental challenges!
Really nice video!!! We need more xc content🤟😁
Thanks, Max! More to come next year! 👀
Là non conoscono l'inverno. Un paradiso per andare in bici e non solo.
Thanks Rich' for this tutorial on "How to survive a muddy winter" 🤣
Instant legend saving that goat!
How did u find rideable routes?
Beautiful Cyclo Cross ride with a beautiful MTB.🤣🤣🤣
Have you thought about Madeira for another winter adventure? I’ve heard there are some great technical trails. Loved the video Rich.
That's a great idea! Madeira has some crazy weather that'll be great for a challenging epic ride!
@@gmbn Maybe you should do a series of short winter break ideas for MTB’ers, with video like your Fuerteventura trip. I would find that very informative.
That was some wholesome shit you pulled off there Rich 👉🏾3:10. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Great video as always.
Agreed! Rich is the GOAT! Thanks for the support! 😉
That looks sick wish I could do the same
Rich and XCM tour challenge please.
You need to check out Peru Rich!
Arizona USA, there are both deserts and forests there. In fact the state of Arizona alone is bigger than the entire UK combined.

This was EPIC! Loved every minute of this - would like to know what bike case you used and how much the airline charged ?
i have been to this stunning island. However it wasn't for mtb, it was for surfing with my family
in corralejo as well 🤣
and stayed in the same hotel. Hopefully next time i can go mountain biking
would love to hear how you guys film these and with what gear
Looks fantastic, great video, do you guys bag up the bike and fly it over with you on the plane or ship it another way?
Not connecting ur garmin to ur phone when riding makes a significant difference to garmins battery. Then just connect for a few mins once finished riding to upload ride.
Great to get some sunny inspiration. 😊 Was that the new Orbea Oiz (120mm)?
Thank you, Ingo! It sure was! 👍
Si quieres disfrutar aún mucho mas ven a tenerife
Fuerteventura is great but you really need reinforced sidewalls on your tyres!
1:19
😮
It’s not “dried up larva”, it’s solidified larva…
These videos are always the best! Always make me wanna get out and ride!
Glad to hear it! Let us know how your ride is! 🤘
Nice ride. Can't understand the choice for a full suspension XC bike for this type of terrain though.
Thanks! We've not been before so weren't sure what to be expecting. Taking the full-sus just allows a little more versatility, just in case!
How does bike storage work at a hotel? do you take the bike up to the room?
Of course you sliced your tyre. You are riding Vittoria skin wall, they puncture just by someone looking at them.
Great ride however!
What kind of transport solution are you using to ensure a high end bike arrives safely at your destination?
Surely the bike bag was another £90 return on easyJet? How they can charge more for hold luggage than a seated passenger is beyond me.
Ooo i was there last week😂😂! Where are you riding?
Wonder how much they charged you to bring your bike?
Where’s the price breakdown?
How much was the bike on the plane rich???
I want me some of this action
Bald is beautiful 👍
Those vittoria race tires are s*it, I had them until puncturing the sidewall just by dropping a bike on some pointy root. XC-Trail version is amazing tbh, but that tanwall XC-Race never again!

@@SUBcyclistClass 😂
and madeira island next?
Rich in "Room 101"... Was that intentional?
1040 solar in GB... I don't think so ;-)
First to write first
You got paid for that??? #DreamJob!!
