    This should have been a single line dedicated to freight, whilst still keeping the station in the town centre. Modern development really is the pits. It sucked the soul out of Wodonga.

      the reason why it was built is because it "split the town in half" and the frequent traffic jams at the level crossings. But it is what it is

    I Remember when the Albury Line used to be on the Broad Gauge and the V/Line N Class Locomotive used to run on the Broad Gauge to Albury until the Last Train to Albury on the Broad Gauge End in 2008, After the Broad Gauge track converted to the Standard Gauge Track and the V/Line N Class Standard Gauge Locomotives Return to Albury Wodonga in 2011

    Short and sweet. Thank you for posting.
    Does each 3 car set have food kiosks?
    We got our money's worth from that 1880's vintage Whitton designed bridge. I like the basket weave braces.
    In some ways, I miss the old Wodonga station setup with the "Y" leading to Bandiana. Not much of value has happened in redevelopment since taking out the rail. I'm sure in future that will change.
    Whenever we went through Albury, Dad would regale us with WW2 stories of having to unload his crew's Bofors gun and move it from broad gauge to standard. This did not happen at the passenger platform, but at a goods transfer facility to the east between 4 & 5 roads. It was between the two gantry cranes still visible, but I'm not sure much else is left.

      Yes, each 3 car set has a kiosk. Things have certainly changed over the years 👍 🙂

      @@driver667 In my limited experience, only one buffet is open at a time - the problem with using fixed three-car sets with no walk through. What is the plan for the overhead arches on the bridge to enable double-stacking on the line?

    • @driver667
      @driver667  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gregmichael8473 I don't know what their plans are but I would guess that they will build a new bridge beside the old one. 👍🙂

    You can see why the passenger network is not utilised. Even today they are not customer orientated. Look how far from the terminus building they pull up the train. For whatever reason I do not know, but it is so typical of last century style operations

    • @driver667
      @driver667  ปีที่แล้ว

      The trains are crowded now. With the cheap tickets we have seen a big increase in passenger numbers. 👍😊

    The long awaited bit! Finally they decided to fence off the bit next to the V/Line platform, it was really easy to trespass there not too long ago.
    I assume that you sound the whistle before departure in NSW out of habit, but do you know if technically you’re still required to, even though NSW doesn’t have that rule?
