Im from the netherlands and we use that system with the clear plastic, and the plastic on the wall for a long time. What i finds that works the best is to roll the black topcover and after that every time i open the pit cut the side and clear plastic of. It makes opening a lot easier and you dont want to reuse those plastic covers anyway they need to be new every pit because otherwise they wil loose their advantage of keeping the silage fresh and free of mold. Maybe it will help you, greetings from the netherlands.
I have to say Adrain I came across your channel and one thing that really strikes me is how your farm supports your family and the work/life balance you have , we are constantly genuflecting to these big farms and thinking big is the only success, I would love if young people who have an interest in farming go to do placement with the likes of you, I think we as society have lost our way, I have neighbours who are are farming on a large scale , and while they are lovey people I know for a fact their quality of life is zero!!!!! It’s work work work 365 with no time to smile and enjoy what they are doing, can we try to get people to stop talking bout “numbers” and maybe talk bout their profits and standard of life???? You are a great influence and I would maybe hope that you could use it? A public voice like yours on this would be great to educate the young folk,
When you know what good silage looks like, you can tell that is excellent silage you have there. Even on the video it looks great. I can almost smell it here!👍
Hope ye don't get too ill Adrian, going video as always. Another tip for pushing In silage is fill the grab and drive up over the previous grab ,drop the loader and reverse back and you will leave the middle of the floor clean and the silage beside the cows.
The poor John Deere child. It’s always the good ones that catch these things. 😅😅 hope everyone is feeling ok. new bin looks a smasher. Best of luck with it, 👌
Wise words, Adrian, on using local businesses for any or all of your supply and 'contract in' needs - always best, as is supplying the local community yourself. Local production for local consumption - less transport, mutual support and the least damage to the planet. There's a right size for everything, based on how it fits in its place, and your farm looks like it. 😊
That's a nice size Meal Bin. It makes sense to empty it the odd time 🤔, no damp feed being held again the side walls & give the bin a chance to breathe
Great video again Adrian, love all the camera angles while putting in the silage. Congrats on the new bin, Great idea to include the shoot for filling the Tipsy Bin 😀
Hope ye had a great Christmas Adrian and viewers. Sorry to hear about alayna hope she makes a speedy recovery and can’t forget to mention the bin looks lovely. 🙌👍
Great job all around. Best of luck with new meal bin. When feeding out off clamp try skip every second grab so same pressure is always on rams of shear grab and prevents twisting over time. Especially wit the new pony in font of it🚜💪💪🤠
Nice seeing your farm progressing. That feed bin is going to change things for you no end. Dare I even say the wheels on your new tractor don't seem that small now kind of makes it more nimble looking for a loader tractor. Keep up the great work. Stay safe 🏴
Yes, enjoyed your video, Adrian. Good to see the pit is in such lovely state. It speaks to the care you took when you put it up. Here’s wishing you and your family a safe and 🥳 New Year.
Happy Christmas Adrian & family, great video again, new Massey is fitting in nicely around the yard. Silage looks well, ur a happy man, it's a great relief to have good quality silage. Ur new meal bin looks the job, purchased meal bin this year and no more heading for Co-op with half ton bin. Keep up the good work.
Happy Christmas Adrian and family. I hope your ladies are feeling better. Great video, I always love to see new additions to the farm to make life that bit easier. Well ware and the best of luck with the meal bin.
Belated Merry Christmas ! Best wishes to the holiday season , I enjoy your videos thank you so much for sharing your farm life with us all . In some ways farming practices here in Canada are very much different and I'm so curious as to how things are done in your part of the world . Cheers ! 🥂
Great video of the first of many blocks from the silo Adrian, looks good quality thought you were gonna have a munch yourself ....🤭 Hope the family are over the Covid 🙏 happy New Year to you all.
That silage looks very good to me, I would be happy with that compared to big bales that we use for our Salers Beef Cattle. Hope you all get through this terrible bug. Best wishes to you all for 2022 Richard x
Like the bin are you going to secure it to the concrete. Hope the kids and the rest of you and family are ok and your now clear of covid and you had a great Xmas all the best for 2022
Yep, that silage looks even better once you cut into it than it did when you pulled back the cover! Those ladies certainly did tear right on into it like you'd served it to them on a platter, so you can say y'all definitely did a great job. God bless and watch over you all as your daughter gets well again. I truly hope that nobody else gets sick, or if they do that it's mild. And I know you know, but y'all keep away from your parents for a while. It's hard, but I'm protective over my own 70 year old mother, and I know you are too. So I'll leave it at that. (I just think that's what I most fear with this thing. Overprotective Daughter is Overprotective, lol!)
This video was recorded nearly 2 weeks back so unfortunately 1 more daughter and my wife got it too, my wife was pretty sick but is doing well now. We’re all cleared now a few days back. Yes I made sure my parents were safe, thankfully alls good now. Have a great new 2022 👍
Happy new year to ye all nice silage innpit a tip that might short the side where it not great till the pit in that area with u tractor before covering be a big help I think 🤔
Hi Adrian. Just wondering how you sharpen your shear grab? Possibly a wee demonstration or maybe you have already done a video you could refer me to? Cheers
Good man Adrian , great job nice silage . Children will be fine working on a farm every day boosts the immune system 😁 I got too tipsy bins last year they are a brilliant job and also make it easy to empty bin . You have tipsy bin full when you run out so you're never really out of nuts but still empty bin.👍 Happy New year to you and yours. Thanks for the videos . Much appreciated
Hope all will be well soon again . Got two calving camera last week from sr security. Super job . Saw it on your TH-cam channel.thanks paul . Happy Christmas
It's the salt in the meal that corrodes the steel and lads hitting the funnel bit with bars to dislodge meal, that chips the paint and galvanise. Are you bolting it to the slab?
We caught a cow with a sheer grab once as grab was opened one cow butted another cow and it shoved its nose on to blade near on cut its nose off it was horrible blood everywhere anyway vet fixed cow and we bought a feeder wagon all the best Adrian to you and your family
Well done aiden good videos silage looks good nó tyre's for moving a question on over seeding how many passes what speed about on which setting looks a good job just got same outfit
It all depends on the ground Padraic, I’ll do some spring videos on using it. But I’d start with the times at there least aggressive and work from there. You only need to cover the seed so it doesn’t take much.
Another great video Adrian, animals looking in good condition, strange not to see Hudson out and about,,hope you all keep safe,Happy new year to you all 🍻
You put more effort into sealing your silage in the bunker than most everyone in the USA but it really paid off. Nice bin. We get ours filled by augers on an apron chained truck. Curious about yours. Looks like vacuum or air system ?
All bins in ireland are filled with a blower, auger system is prob faster but you have to climb to the top of the bin and open the lid where the blower is attached at ground level so its safer,
@@bobokeeffe4036 yes bob answered that one perfectly, it’s just a different way of doing it here, and it is a lot safer too. It’s always great to see the way other countries do things
Yes putting it back very soon, yes it was a great job for sure. The visibility is actually much better on this tractor for some reason but we still have the same issue when it comes to using the forks
Didn't see any difference from the case when feeding the silage if anything the case may have been slightly better, again brilliant video and wishing ye all a bright and happy New Year.
If you got to drive both you see a difference straight away, the gearbox being the big one, faster hydraulics too. The Case was great though but this is just very different machine. Happy year new Colman 👍

Of all the You Tube farm channels I follow, yours is the tidiest. So neat and clean! Impressive!

Happy Christmas and New year lads. Hope ye get through the covid dose ok.
How many cows are you milking Adrian, happy new year 👍🏻👍🏻

Hey Adrian I bought my boyfriend one of your hats for Christmas he loves it he won’t take it off …happy Christmas to you and your family 😁😁
Thanks Anna, hope yourself and your BF have a great 2022

Hope everyone’s ok
It's the salt in the meal that corrodes the steel and lads hitting the funnel bit with bars to dislodge meal, that chips the paint and galvanise. Are you bolting it to the slab?
Yes a mixed ration is a nightmare to get out of bins, that’s a good point as well 👍 yes all bolted down into 9” Concret base.
I hope Alayna makes a speedy recovery.
Thanks Sean, that was filmed a while ago. Three of my people got it over that week but there all recovered now thankfully 👍
