The manager sees the players every day in training We put our trust in him being able to work out the right tactics & personnel Every fan thinks they can pick a better team & better tactics & you can’t please everyone But I think we’re all agreed that Lopetegui still doesn’t pick our best 11 or choose the right formation We were promised more expansive possession based football - but we are still rather erratic I’d still give him at least the season. But he needs to improve!
Thanks Stel - that lost possession stat is powerful for sure! Enjoyed this Stel . We only seem able to play one half of football at the moment . I can see us winning a few more games this year but will this just paper over the cracks ?
Good balanced analysis as always Stelios. You're always going to get the "expert bar-stool preachers" that think they can do better, and there are those that want the manager out whatever the result, as they did with David Moyes. Lopetegui inherited the old tired squad and it is still work in progress.
thank you mate... I am more prepared to give Lopetegui time but i feel he's on the same path as Moyes simply because he is not the fans choice... i wonder how things would be if Amorim was recruited and he was doing badly
Moving Alvarez to sweeper in second half did seem to help as he has no pace whereas AWB has plenty and is pretty good. CS7 is in for a run I think. I’m pretty optimistic Stel and have tired more of our doom monger fans more than our team and head coach. Great analysis as usual amigo ⚒

The question is will Lopetegui do the needful and play the best players who are in form? Thats the million dollar Question right there. Because as at now i cant see any system or formation he plays. Yes stel.he has changed the formation according to the Opposition but playing players like Kudus and Soler out of position hasnt helped him at all.Even Paquetta isnt a pure number 10. We have lost to the current 1st, 4th, 5th, and 8th placed teams. Drawn with the current 9th and 10th and won against the current 14th, 17th, and 18th placed teams. Unusually predictable but its early days. I am concerned about J Lo tho and he MUST drop Paqueta now.
We have no idea whether Amorim will succeed so it doesn’t bother me that he’s going to Man Utd to be honest It might well be the biggest mistake Sullivan has made Time will tell
@WESTHAMVOICE I think he will succeed tbh. He was in for taking the Man City job if Pep left. Still a rising star IMO. We got Julien Lopetagui no one wanted let's be honest 🤣😂
I can’t disagree with your assessment of those statistics for Lopetegui, but my eyes are telling me something different. My concern with playing our full backs as wing backs, and our centre backs pushing out to cover the space caused by wing backs, then defensive midfielders dropping into the gaps left by those CB’s splitting, the opposition know this and just wait to put the ball over the heads in a high line press into these voids. Chelsea & Tottenham took full advantage of this and scored, MU tried the same with success, but couldn’t “hit a barn door”. I repeat what I’ve said numerous times, Emerson & Summerville won’t play together unless Lopetegui changes the formation, and Sunday he had to bring Cresswell on and push Summerville centrally, where he scored. AWB is being caught so high up, Rodriquez & Mavropanos, in that first halve, were constantly making these tackles. Todibo was far more comfortable doing this job, but that still left central holes which Alvarez had to cover. And don’t get me started with Soler playing the “Moyes left wing of death”, why not put our natural left winger there? That’s right, Emerson & Summerville can’t play together in this formation, both far too attacking needing Paqueta to help do the defensive duties. I would feel more comfortable playing a dedicated back three with a CDM, but we seem to expect our CDM to play two roles and then complain they’re not mobile enough. Having a true CF available would be better than Antonio dropping in and out to the wings making a cameo appearance in the opposition’s box, but you play with what you have available.
I do totally agree with you bill As I mentioned in a show I did last week, I think back three is the way to go which provides us with extra cover then have a pacy striker to get on the end of balls, or even have a two upfront as it turned out on Sunday

@ morning Stel, just watched Four Four Two’s video on why MU had to sack Ten-Hag from last night, and the similarities between MU’s tactical setup and that of Lopetegui’s is frighteningly similar, in fact during the latter part of the explanation you could simply replace the MU player with the WH player far too easily. It’s well worth the time to watch it as it describes a lot about our issues at the moment.
