Nursing Labs with High-Fidelity Manikins Prepare ABSN Students for the Real World

During nursing school, it’s essential to gain hands-on experience that prepares you to care for patients in your clinical nursing career. Not only do nurses need to learn a complex base of knowledge to be successful, but they also need to master many technical nursing skills. Though Felician University offers either online or on-ground classes to teach fundamental nursing theory, you’ll still need nursing labs and clinical rotations to provide a well-rounded education.
Nursing labs consist of a mix of skills labs and simulation labs. Skills labs teach you how to perform tasks like placing an IV or inserting a feeding tube. In simulation labs, you’ll work with high-fidelity manikins that can breathe, blink, talk, and bleed. During simulations, you’ll work alongside classmates to learn how to manage various clinical scenarios. Simulation labs were one of the most meaningful parts of the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program for graduate Rachell Rosales.
The skills and strategies you learn in nursing labs directly translate to your success with patient care during clinical rotations. Plus, nursing labs provide a safe and supportive learning environment.
If you have a prior non-nursing bachelor’s degree or at least 60 non-nursing college credits, you may be able to accelerate your path to nursing with our 16-month Hybrid ABSN or 18-month On-Ground ABSN.
