Damn. Every time I see Armin's scream watching Eren's head, I can't hold my tears.
Some people find the final time lapse upsetting and though I can sympathize, I don't agree. It resolved one of the main worries I had about how the series would end, because ultimately Isayama had made the drama circle around the human condition and there is no real solution to it. A hundred years or a thousand years, people will end up killing each other again; even with their best efforts our main cast cannot have created a utopia.
I agree, i was one of the critics when i first saw the ending in the manga. But as the time passed it grew on me and now is one of my favorites finales finales ever.
Is very realistic, this is was the message that Isayama wanted to show us since the beginning.
Even with our best efforts the future is unclear, is very unlikely that truth peace can ever be achieved by humanity, conflicts and war will always happens for so many different reasons for things that are beyond our control.
But on the same time we have the subtle message that we will always have hope for better days too, always hope to do right the thing.

@@purpleblastoise That happens 300+ years after Eren dies. That’s the point of the show, the cycle of violence never ends. Eren and his friends make up just a chunk of humanity’s history. Even if Eren wiped out 100% of humanity outside of Paradise, eventually the people of Paradise would cause conflict within themselves and the cycle of violence continues.

I watched a lot of animes, but aot was the only one where every episode had something amazing to say and ended with a nail-biter. The saga of Eren Jaeger and his painful end will forever remain in my mind... aot was a rare and unique gem for the anime world. I don't know how many years it will be before someone writes a story like AOT again. Because I don't see anime like aot now. This painful pause broke my heart. Thank you Isayama

They lived 4 years together and in peace, memory bro, I mean it could be a dream if that ur interpretation but for me, they were older in the cabin that when they run away, eren said the marlyan war ended 2 month ago so its means they live quite a bit there and dont forget Zeke waited for 10 years in the paths for eren so its a good interpretation. It more tragic though, mikasa killed the person she lived and love for 4 years when the memory came back.

many people don't understand eren's words about how his mother was killed, eren didn't intentionally kill his mother, he knew berthold wasn't dead yet, so he controls dina to let berthold go, eren doesn't know where dina will go next, and we know that dina went to eren's mother, so eren indirectly killed his mother, which we know he did not intentionally, and because he didn't know, because the future memories of the attack titan only show fragments of images, not details, we know what eren said about him not knowing what mikasa was doing, so he continued forward so that mikasa could do what was shown in eren's memory.

he literally said in this and the manga that he SENT IT TO HIS MOTHER, not in her direction, not anywhere else. He needed to give himself motivation to kill the titans, if his mother lived, nothing would have come of it. Grisha wouldn't have given the titan to Eren. IT NEEDED TO HAPPEN, so he MADE IT HAPPEN INTENTIONALLY.

And Mikasa started her new family only after 10 years of mourning and waiting, which Eren told Armin. In Mikasa's heart, her eternal first love was Eren, so she wore the scarf until the moment of her death.

Also Eren was not just some guy she loved, but an integral person in her life. People wear mementos of even their past family and friends, people want to be buried with their past family and friends and that tree holds a special place for the whole trio even without Eren being buried there.
