Thank you for the video. This looks like a pretty easy job. I have 356,000 miles on a 2007 Ram 1500 and the leather wrapped wheel wore through to the plastic about 100,000 miles ago. Yesterday I scored a very nice wheel for $23 at a self serve wrecking yard. I'll be retaining my stock air bag and radio controls that are on the back side of the inner hub spokes. Thanks again for the help.
Most junk yards won’t have a way to easily turn the wheel to remove the back screws (because the key is missing) how were you able to remove the replacement steering wheel or do you have suggestions? I know some places lift the vehicle off the tires (such as PYP) but I’m worried there be any issue turning the wheel for removal. Or triggering the airbag on my working vehicle come time to swap out. I’m a novice to all this and trying to fix up the minor cosmetic stuff on my 04 Ram
I had no issues getting the wheel off in the junkyard As long as the ignition wasn't in lock when the key was removed it'll turn. Just disconnect the battery for 5 min before starting to diasarm the airbags.

My steering wheel lock is broken, do I need to pull the wheel to access that or just the panels?
I doubt the steering wheel would have to come off.
