  • Tweezers, a dual phased two-card-monte routine from Juan Tamariz, is undoubtedly one of the best monte routines you can perform. The routine is designed for absolute fairness - the magician removes two black tens to act as “tweezers,” while a spectator freely selects an Ace and court-card of contrasting color. What happens next is a slow-paced swindle that belongs in every performer’s repertoire.
The relaxed manner and presentational style of Tamariz is what makes this piece so special. Tweezers offers a rare opportunity to sit down with arguably the greatest living magician and improve your magic ten-fold.

Great effect. You can really see the influence that he had on Dani Daortiz.
Eduardo, do you know if that's Dani on the left at the 50 second mark?

I'd say that's not Dani, but I may be wrong :) I was looking for him in the crowd too!

Is this some kind of joke? Tamariz keeps throwing the *bottom card* (not the middle card) belonging to the trio of cards onto the table - is this what happens when you get too old?

I certainly can't see it happening, even though I know that's the case - and of course, it's part of the routine.

Yes, I'm sure he could do better when he was younger. That part is too obvious even for an outsider non-magician to see. Also is the part where he secretly bent the corner of the 10 and didn't restore the A to the full.

Big fan of card magic & Tamariz, but this was.. well. Let's just not talk about how poorly this one was executed. I don't believe any one of them didn't notice he was consistently throwing a different card. Maybe the first or second time you'd miss it, but latest at the 3rd time everyone can see it. Interesting idea but .. yeah.

It’s a nice idea, but let’s be honest - it’s not hugely deceptive.

Not if you are able to rewind and watch it over and over. In person, with the patter, it’s quite deceptive.

@@oldschoolwarrior I think even in person, as a one-off, it’s not very deceptive. Not one of Juan’s best ideas, IMO.

Its about the skill in thr hand movement. Obviouly eveyone can guess the trick is throwing out a different card than what he took

When he does the "tweezer" he just drops down one of the two outside cards and NOT the middle one. Play it back at .25 speed and you'll see it. He's good but we all know it's just a sleight of hand. :)

Bill A it's not JUST sleight of hand.it takes decades to achieve such perfection.

Anyone can arrive to that conclusion, but it's beautiful how fast he does it...

Well,I honestly don t know. But I think its stupid to say that it is JUST seight of hand if you had to watch it at .25 to understand it
