They had Lopes up at 3 am to do a quick crappy rehydration to 155 weigh in day, not rehydrating correctly and messing up his sleep couldn't have been good for his cardio. Also fighting and grappling Dan Ige who was 5+ pounds heavier than him. I don't think you can really have a narrative shift when so many things were going against Lopes cardio wise. Not to mention it was short notice and he didn't have a camp while Dan was months into his.

My narrative shift is lhw is the division with the biggest egos. Looking back we got a lot of fighters that are delusional there. The fact every fighter there keep saying they don't need wrestling to beat a glory double champ when their striking never look that great is crazy. Even magomed is now saying he won't need wrestling even though he struggled with jan. A dagestani thinking they don't need wrestling is a paradox.
But to be honest, Ank ain't really a wrestler, look at his fights, the dude doesn't have a single submission win and I think he only won once whit G&P. He is actually a striker that has some decent wrestling skills.
@@Al_Straik I know, but he needs to use it if he got it. Dan hooker is a striker, but he actually can and will wrestle with people if he feels they're a problem. He utilized it really well for his last three fights. Strikers only striking is so old news nowadays and they should try to mix it up especially against a big scary brazilian like sean would say.

34:31 alex didn't expose mma. thing is mma is multifaceted. so when an expert like alex rises among the ranks, its because he hasn't fought any great wrestlers. like think about his chances against jon, ankalaev. his chances of winning diminishes a lot. But when a mma guy goes to a specialized sport like boxing or bjj or even kickboxing, it is difficult for them as they spent more time honing their skills in other areas. like a specialized tool can't do the job of a all rounder tool, but an all rounder tool can do the job of the specialized tool to some extent, but it won't beat it in the area that tool is specialized in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the reason Aspinall didn't try to grapple or wrestle Pavlovich is because he injured his ribs, which prevented him from doing any wrestling, so I don't think him standing up was an ego thing.
In a fight against Pereira, especially with how good Tom's grappling is, it'd be one of the lowest fight IQ decisions to stick to boxing Periera.
Ian Garry's grappling looked mediocre. MVP just can't grapple at all.

I’m pretty new to sports betting but I’m finding that if you have time it’s better to look at the technical matchup rather than factors like strength of competition, age, momentum, divisional skill gap, etc. I mean obviously try to factor them all in but if you had to choose one then technical matchup is working out better for me.
The Jourdain fight is illustrative, bro doesn’t have great defence, kicks but doesn’t fight at a really long range, gets into firefights … versus a really big hitter. I knew Silva might just run over him but just went on strength of competition and while it’s true that I underestimated Silva based on the limited footage I could find (bro has an uppercut, not just meaty hooks) I feel like he would have won anyway just throwing meaty hooks
