Hello, excellent work. I do not dare to cut the pressure pipes and put a dimmer (for incandescent lamp) in the pump. For now I am super happy with the results, the extraction improves a lot
Great video thank you... was given this machine recently by a friend ..Am going to do this mod as I need all the help I can to make a good coffee ( still learning)
Thank you for this video, great job!! Anything else you would want to change on this machine? Doing an OPV id enough to make it a great machine? I love the look of this machine, but everyone says they are crape. I am hoping with some mods it could be turned around!!
Hi Dan so have watched your video many times before attempting fit, cannot find reference to parts lists and did you mange to do the follow up video you promised. Great video by the way. Thank you.
I would say better but not as good as I was hoping it to be. Having said that, it's all subjective. I'll need to get a reflectometer to actually measure the improvements.
Hi Dan! I happen to have a clone of the Sunbeam Torino (a saeco se50), and I'd like to add an OPV. Do you have the parts list? I cannot find it anywhere :( Also, in your video I can see there is a 'bolt' that 'attaches' a quick connect to the OPV. Is it a non-return valve or simply an adapter? Thanks a lot!!
As far as I'm aware, the 9 bar of pressure came from the spring lever machine that was introduced in 1946. The current E61 machines are made to attempt to replicate said pressure. Having said that, the current trend is to shift to lower pressures e.g. 6 to 7 bar (turbo shots).
I was going to comment "could have used the blind basket to adjust the OPV", then I realized the pressure goes down slowly after you turn off the pump, so maybe it doesn't have a 3-way solenoid valve to discharge pressure, doesn't backflush and there's no reason for it to come with a blind basket. What a waste of potential this machine is :(
Unfortunately, machine didn't ship with a blind filter basket. It does however have a 3-way solenoid so it's kinda strange that Sunbeam didn't ship a blind filter with the machine. This machine definitely had the potential to be a great machine :(
Have finally got around to installing the opv... 9 bar everytime.. now the fun begins. thanks again Dan for the video..Nev
Very informative vid 👍

All the best! Feel free to ask any questions if you're stuck during the OPV installation.
Thank you for posting this video! Im willing to buy a sunbeam torino and i will install an opv too

Have an eye on the 3way plastic piece to the steam boiler... It fails sometimes and you get low to no steam

Thanks for video Dan, and did You get a good espresso after OPV installation?)

Hey - thanks Dan. Any chance you could please put the part numbers in the comments? Thanks!
I just updated the video description with the parts description. Thanks for watching :)

Sorry for the late reply. The 'bolt' is just an adapter. I've included the parts list in the video description.
why is 9 bar considered the optimum pressure

Did anyone manage to get the parts list?
I've added the parts list in the video description.

Hey there do you have a copy of the summarised parts list? I can’t access the blog post 🥲
Same
yeah! it would be nice to know of all the fittings and connections list. as trying to access the blog site is a waste of time
I've included the parts lists in the video description.
