I just came across your channel recently and am enjoying it. I live in Vancouver and have been a part-time reseller for 14 yrs, so fun to see you at stores I go to as well as some I don't. The Heywood Wakefield nightstands were an awesome score. I'm sure others have mentioned this before, but I would caution you to not use Charish and 1st Dibs to find comps. Their items are ridiculously overpriced. They are helpful for identification sometimes though. 🙂
You got some great pieces Sarah, I wish you were close to my home! Keep us posted about the re-opening of the Etsy shop please! TFS and have a great week.
Enjoyed going thrifting with you. I watched a few others today and noticed there wasn't any pause between their sentences. You actually had a little quiet time or light music as you walked down the aisles which I found rather refreshing. I was curious if you sell on Ebay, I didn't see the name of your store in the header field. Also curious how you go about packing and shipping furniture like those heavy nightstands. Thanks!
Hi! Thank you so much for the positive feedback. I only resell furniture locally. But I’ll be opening my Etsy shop for small items in the next few weeks!
Also a great point! I think the part I don’t understand is that some pieces, like the white campaign dresser I showed, is $600 and it had corresponding nightstands for $300 each. Yet the Heywood Wakefield nightstands I bought were marked $20. So it’s just super inconsistent! Thanks for watching and commenting ♥️
From what I understand, they have different pricers. You can have the exact same thing and one person may mark it for $5.00 and the other person may mark it for $15.00. It's nuts!!! Lol
I know you said you regretted it so why or what made you pass up on those white chairs for $2.99? If I found those they would have been in my vehicle so fast the place would think I was stealing. That was big money right at your fingertips. Did by any chance when you thought about what you left behind did you go back or call them to see if they were still there? Congratulations on the great finds you did purchase, sold & kept.
When I saw them in the store, they looked brand new and like wedding venue chairs, honestly. They didn’t seem special to me, nor did they seem like an easy flip/resell, just because of the style and what people in my area typically go for. I didn’t look them up until much later, so I didn’t know they were valuable at all! Like I said, I’m not a vintage expert. So, sometimes I don’t recognize things and it’s A LOT to be filming everything and also researching at the same time. Another reason I passed and didn’t care to research those at the store was because I had already found a lot at the previous store, still had another one to go to, and knew I was gonna buy those nightstands so I was just being practical! Sometimes a lot goes into my decisions and other times I just don’t feel like buying and hauling something so I’ll pass 😅
Downvote @gooby1945: From what I heard, what actually started the ball rolling with thrift store prices going up was this--. During Covid, thrift stores weren't accepting donations in many locations. With very limited inventory they were forced to raise their prices to make rent. That's what happened with my local thrifts. Now that they are all accepting donations at all locations, the prices are much more reasonable again. And they are again selling a lot. I got a West Elm credenza ($1500 orig.) for 80 dollars including delivery. I found that very fair.
I had those little wood nightstands for years. Had the whole set. Passed it on to a niece. Wow. Valuable.

Oh hi neighbor! Thanks for the tip on finding comps. One other person mentioned that and I had no idea.

Nice find on the nightstands! They're probably birch. I have a few Heywood Wakefield dressers that match them. I'd buy them if I lived near you. :)
Ah yes, I saw that in my research. So cool and such a rare find, it seems!
Great finds!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Great pickup on the nightstands ... and dovetail joinery is hard to find!
It is! Thanks for watching ♥️
Lots of great stuff
I subscribed because you went to clark county where i am from!!!!
Thrift stores raise prices because the price of everything has gone up. Their rent, utilities, and workers. We can't just blame resellers.

Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!
how is that $5000???
Right?! It’s designer 🙃
Do you really wonder why thrift stores raised there prices when
people get on social media and say how much things are worth.
Great point!
