I think it’s a good premise, however something tells me it would be more accurate if Richard was the host and James, the sidekick yet both believed the opposite.
I love Richard Ayoade. He’s so dry, but his lines are very clever. He doesn’t rely on swearing, which makes a change for many comedians. One of the best.
Richard has a different brand of comedy that's so incredibly unique, funny and clever all at the same time. He barely puts down any individual, apart from himself, rather he takes it on the entire audience.
Such a shame he was never cast as the Doctor, he would've been amazing. Or alternately Matt Berry. Or Noel Fielding. So, basically anyone from the cast of the IT Crowd.
My favourite Ayoade-joke has to be on 'The Big Fat Quiz' when the question was: "According to the movie 'Scream', what three things should you never do if you want to survive a horror movie?" and he begins with "Make a Citizen's arrest". I remember him making himself laught at that one and breaking his normal deadpan character.
Except he has no interest in playing that role. And that DoctorWhoing is more than looking askance at things and making a dry comment. He'd have been/could be a great recurring assistant role.
If Ayoade isn't the next Doctor, I riot. Or maybe I won't riot, I'll write a sternly worded letter. Or perhaps I will lazily mutter beneath my breath, but there will be hell to pay. Quiet, hell. Dignified, quiet hell, but hell nonetheless.
The next Doctor, or at least the one before the next one maybe, was actually featured in this clip at very close to the same time that Ayoade said the word Doctor
We're all sick of Slapgate jokes by now, but that one was pretty good. I also like the implication that this sort of petulance would be prevented by making Award Ceremonies shorter...
British comedians got to be a happy bunch. If they are not touring panel shows or travel somewhere together, they get paid for celebrating other people in the same bubble. Yet, most if not all of them are grounded enough to be relatable.
Dry, yes. And there’s Graham Norton. He is my favorite interviewer. I think I should move to England. I have come to adore Ricky Gervais. Have never watched Dr. Who.
@@apebass2215 I don't see woke as intrinsically problematic. I'm more concerned about whether or not the story is compelling (or even amusing). Wokeness is not usually the issue.

Get David Attenborough to do the next one, but don't ask him to do anything other than deliver a speech on the short lives of celebrities. Richard would laugh his head off 😂
I want a show co-hosted by Ayoade and Acaster, with the premise that both believe they are the host and the other is their sidekick.
100% yes to this
Yes please!
Omg, the delivery would be sooo weird
I think it’s a good premise, however something tells me it would be more accurate if Richard was the host and James, the sidekick yet both believed the opposite.
Yes! A British adaptation of On Cinema At the Cinema! With cameos by Tim and Greg, hopefully.

It also helps if you imagine that he is doing well.

New Zealand. There's one.
I absolutely agree with this. Richard Ayoade, James Acaster, Lee Mack, David Mitchell, Sean Lock, Jack Dee, Bill Bailey are all case in point.

Yes, but in a purely hetero plutonic way.

I believe there's always a team effort between writers of the show and the presenter. It's important for the lines to go to the presenter's identity.
