I loved this video. I am a real bibliophile, and I also find the majority of my books in charity shops, or, as you also said, in online 2nd hand book sellers. I have the most incredible charity shop about 3 minutes from my home. Whatever I go looking for, they bustle off into the back room, and with some muttering and obvious sounds of hefty heavy items around, they re-emerge grinning triumphantly, book in hand! i love spending hours in the library too. Libraries sell many books off at bargain prices too, whenever it is perhaps not taken out enough, or is showing some signs if wear on the cover. What is there not to love about books, no matter the subject. One of the most pleasant smells in the world, along with baking bread, is the smell of a new book… 👩🏻🎨🎨🖌️😁📚📖📓📔📕📗📘📙
Oh yes!!! The smell of a book is the best! My children think I’m nuts when I say that😂but I couldn’t agree with you more, right up there with the comforting smell of baking bread. You are so lucky to have such a good second hand store so close. Whenever I find a book that I would love I always check online to see if I can find it second hand first. Nothing beats time out with a good book! ❤️
That’s exactly how I feel about books too! Thank you for taking the time to watch, I appreciate it. Hope you get to enjoy some quiet time with a good book this week! ❤️
Loved the vid hun I have not heard of big magic so will be getting that. I think you have inspired me to do a video of my favourite books as I also have a huge selection heheh
You can never have enough books…or art supplies right? 😝🫣 I am sure you will really enjoy Big Magic, so much creative wisdom shared! Thanks for watching, much appreciated 🙏🏻
@@heidishedlock-acreativelife it’s so nice to meet other people with the same issues let’s be friends Hello I’m Karlena from New Zealand nice to meet you 🥰
Love my books, I too have Hockney's book and I am interested in Frida Kahlo's Sketchbook but its out of stock online and on the pricey side. I am from Cape Town and find it upsetting that bookstores sell so few art books. Anyone in Cape Town interested in art books should try Paper Moon in Roodebloem Road Woodstock, they have wonderful collection.
Thanks that's a great recommendation for Cape Town friends. I also agree that bookstores seem to carry less and less art books. That section in Exclusive books seems get considerably smaller all the time, sadly. I hope you manage to find your Freda sketchbook on a great sale or bargain. I find if you are patient, eventually the books find you.
Hello fellow durbanite :) which bookstore do you recommend for second hand books? I haven't had much luck at kloof SPCA. Btw Have you tried the artists way, by Julia Cameron? Based on your first book you will really enjoy it.
HELLO Durbanite!!! I love The Artists Way, it's a brilliant book for creatives too, also full of so much wisdom and golden nuggets of information. A great recommendation, thanks. I have had quite a bit of luck at Kloof SPCA and the Durban SPCA at Springfield has a special book room that is open I think on Wednesdays, but you will have to check. I also buy from Bookmall online (sometimes the prices are ridiculous because of our exchange but I've also picked up great bargains there too) and lots of bargains on Yaga too. There are a few other places online but I can't think of them offhand. When I come across a book I would love, I always check before buying new, if I can't find one second hand online for less.
I’ve found my TWIN!! I’m addicted to art books and cookbooks too!! I have no more room!😁
Love it! 😝 It’s a wonderful problem to have right?! My husband is always telling me I’m going to sink the house with the weight of the books!😂
Always here for an art book review! lovely to see your over the shoulder view of the Hockney sketchbook.
It’s such a beautiful book! Hockney’s drawings are so simple yet so full of life! Thanks for watching, I love a good art book! ☺️
