I got to admit, the graffiti drawing on the MRT train is quite nice and amazing though. It's so nice that people don't realize that the graffiti drawing on the MRT train is actually vandalism.

Exactly, the laws of Singapore are BRUTAL, not just tough, but inhumane. They are also discriminatory toward the Male gender and are therefore also unjust and unequal. That is the point I am making, not whether or not vandalism or graffiti or anything else is a crime. You do not treat human beings in the barbaric manner in which the current regime has, and has got away with doing so.
Singapore tortures people and legalizes it. That violates international laws and are crimes against humanity.

  • @butterflye2020
    @butterflye2020 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

To sentence any man, much less thousands of boys and men, to be tortured by cruel, degrading and inhuman treatment is a crime in and of itself; one which Singapore must answer for one way or the other. This legalized gender violence is repugnant to civilized people worldwide. This evil system of injustice that permits physically abusing a man for spray painting on the side of a train is ludicrous, and has been shameful for the people of singapore.

SMRT should capitalize on this by giving the creative youth of Singapore one train to work on every few months. What a positive movement to recognize the creativity and spirit the exists in Singapore but has few venues to display it.
I know a number of corporate sponsors that would jump on this opportunity although I would prefer to see this done outside of the soul crushing spiritual suicide of materiali$m.

Art is art, vandalism is vandalism. I totally disagree with people who said that Singapore is too uptight and doesn't encourage their people to be 'emotional' and 'artful'. There are lots of proper outlets for that. This is not an act of heroism, this is pure vandalism - the trains are properties of SMRT and if they don't want them to be spray-painted, then people should obey. It's the same as you not wanting your private house to be spray-painted. This guy is a hooligan and a criminal!

Apparently when this video went viral the public was skeptical over the security breach in train depot… This is just one of the reasons why Singapore is one of the least most creative states….

Oliver Fricker was sentenced to a mandatory beating with a wood cane for unauthorized spray painting on a train car Singapore calls vandalism. The more serious charge of trespassing which could potentially cause a critical security issue for the country did not have the penalty of being flogged. This is insane. Beatings are imposed only on male criminals for other trivial things also and if this man is beaten there should be an will be serious international consequences

Worldwide the Singapore flag should be burned in protest to this torture. If a woman had comitted this she would be jailed BUT NOT BRUTALLY BEATEN. This is injustice and needs international condemnation.

@somuchsolittleful YES Singapore DOES impose FLOGGINGS (which is mandatory) for vandalism. Two different considerations here. Fricker sentenced to be FLOGGED FOR VANDALISM--which is written into Singapores violent laws. He was also convicted for trespassing, which is a security breach, but NO beating for that. Beating anyone to inflict bodily harm and or injury IS VIOLENT, SADISTIC, and BARBARIC! Oliver Fricker is no terrorist and the judge knew it acknowledging there was no sinister agenda

You cannot deny the facts that the ruthless Singapore government sentences thousands of males to the violence and brutality of floggings annually, many for never having committed a single act of violence, yet violence is used upon them.
This legalized brutality is a disgrace to civilized people everywhere and demonstates the sickness of singapore. Almost the entire first world has agreed this cruelty is Torture and is outlawed, but Singapore clings to it's backward insitiution pf violence.

@somuchsolittleful Graffiti is actually a talent, much recognized and appreciated by other countries. Places like Barcelona, Spain and São Paulo, Brazil, consider graffiti as street art for all to admire. Singapore's government clearly has a incredible flaw. I don't feel insulted when foreigners criticize Singapore; because to call Singapore a third-world country is far from a lie. Torturing a man with the intent of exhibiting his art is vicious, it's no wonder Westerners always disparage us.

THAT was art, and should be treated as so. Sure to be honest with you, that type of train didn't really need graffiti on it. But still, haha, just QUIT trying to stop it. The harder you fight against us, the harder we FIGHT BACK. Seriously, I read an article a few months ago about graffiti in the US and it said just that. Most of us who do graffiti art have used it as a way to get out of WORSE crimes. So the way you look at it, if graffiti begins to die out, more serious crimes occur!!

Being beaten and tortured by sadists isn't just humiliating it is a crime itself. It may be also be true that those maimed, stoned, blineded, and or flogged would not want to experience inhumane treatment again--NO ONE should have to endure such depravity. What's in contention here is how graffit is done here - the artist breaks into a protected or private premise UNINVITED! It's a violation of the owner's rights. For those of you who support this act, ask yrself this question: Imagine a graffit artist breaking into yr house and spray paint your mom's room when she didnt ask for it, or a tattoo artist forcibly ties you up and tattoo your body with his signature, do you like it? It's an assault right?

its spray paint, you put it on, you clean it off. most of these cars are coated and can be scrubbed clean in a matter of minutes. some of you are taking this to seriously. why is it that when someone does something thats considered defiant, everyone jumps on the kill him band wagon.

I was young when all NYC subway train looked like this. Guess what, NYC was a dump full of drug addicts & prostitutes. Some call it art and most people call it vandalism because it creates a sense of chaos. NYC only got better when we started cleaning up the graffiti and got rid of the squeegy guys who cleans car windows force.

Singapore gave out the perfect sentence for the vandal. He broke the fence and vandalized the MRT. Given that he had a work permit, he should have been in Singapore for sometime and should know the consequence of his actions. It was HIS choice to get caned, that shows how stupid he is! Congratulations to you, Oliver...

@JMOLIVES Graffiti, Tagging, Art, whatever you would like to call it--but you know what--IT is still ART. These people, and this man does not deserve to be whipped because of the barbaric rules of the jungle that Singapore still has in place. He harmed nobody and there cannot be any RESPECT for a government that tortures.

The communist newspaper reports today that a man was ordered to jail for 17 months for repeatedly beating and injuring his girlfriend---but no TORTURE!! However Torture beatings were ordered for Oliver Fricker who painted artwork on the side of a train! I am not advocating violent physical assault on any man, but anyone can see the warped sense of justice in Singapore's judicial system - which is a mockery of justice in every sense of the word.
