30 years military retired. There is a big difference between what is taught in a classroom and learned from experience. They graduate then do anything they want. The reality check does not go well for most of them.
@@bobjoe4888 for the uninitiated. You attend any school to learn policies and procedures; the subjects don't matter. There is a big difference between what is taught and what is learned. What THEY learn is how to do everything so it suits them, not those they lead. I've seen USNA grads full of genuine desire upon graduation, then TRY to act like a hard ass the moment they pin on their gold jump wings and never use them again.
@@mofo7689 yeah, I'm sure it is the same to an extent for all service academies, and some people are more likely to act that way in others...but I think the coast guard academy in particular does better in preparing it's cadets for transition into the fleet than the other branches. Ultimately you can't change their personalities though
