    instead of a sportsleeve you can also use an old sock (i used an old one, which had a hole) and cut the part for your toes away, so you can stick your hand through

    This is why I invested into a standing desk just to I can have those 0.1 inch adjustments so that I can comfortably position my chair height so I'm not restricting blood flow to my leg as happens when you are sitting too high and your feet are dangling and then have my desk adjusted to the perfect hand height. My position while gaming and so much more has massively helped my qol.

    Its really amazing how i naturally just did everything you said to do in your video before i even found this video. As soon as i lowered my sensitivity and got more mousepad it started becoming 2nd nature to me. My aim has also become more consistent over playing with a higher sens.

    3:49 This was the thing that I hated about arm aiming. What I started doing about 6 months ago is to take a piece of paper and fold it in half and put on half under the mousepad and the other half where my arm rests. This GREATLY reduced the friction and arm aiming is so much easier.

    really helpful mate! after a lot of forearm pain I noticed that my arm was being restricted because of the desk and adding a huge mousepad that starts from the edge of the table has really helped along with the reduction in the DPI

    • @mycelia_ow
      @mycelia_ow ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You shouldn't reduce DPI, rather reduce in-game sensitivity. Higher DPI = more accurate aim and less aim latency. That's why I now play on 1600 DPI and 0.8 sensitivity (in Overwatch 2 & Apex Legends). I noticed more precise shots like using snipers became easier doing this. The lower you can get your in-game sensitivity, the better.

    I'm trying to switch from wrist aiming to arm aiming after 20 years of gaming (mostly fps games) 😊.
    I can feel my brain and body struggling so hard with this - it always wants to revert back to wrist aiming.
    But your tips are really helping me a lot and it's getting better and better every day.
    With wrist aiming, I used to play mostly with high mouse sensitivity. As soon as I started using arm aiming, I had to lower my sensitivity significantly.
    Funny, i never had any pain or injuries with my wrists.

    Chair height is a very important aspect of how your aim feels like your mentioned and I 100% agree. I'm one of those people who sit at a slight angle towards the desk and I have a more lounge style position like the CS:GO pro JDM. My keyboard is right at the edge of the table but I have a nice comfortable pivot for my mouse against my forearm.

    • @StruthGaming

      Thank you, much appreciated! Sensitivity is a tough topic, it's something i'm very interested in but i've been waiting until I can figure out a robust, repeatable method for finding it until I cover it.
      The main problem is that your most performative sensitivity isn't just a static number, it changes depending on your current sens range and even DPI used for general PC use. If I used 3200 DPI for a week, my 'perfect' sens would probably be something like 25~cm. But right now on 1200 DPI, it's more like 40cm~.
      Atm the way I find a good sensitivity is based too much on 'feel', need it to be more methodical if it's going to help viewers. Thanks for the reminder though, I'll give it some more thought.

    My aiming is not stable. When I put 100% of my forearm on the table, I flick very well, but when I put 70% or even 80% of my forearm on the table, I feel different and my aim is quite bad. And you know that during a match, your entire forearm is not always on the table. So is my problem psychological or is there really a difference?

    • @phantom498
      @phantom498 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      There is a 100% a difference. Aiming is inherently biomechanical. This means setting up your body in the most comfortable and consistent way possible for you to aim is the best way to improve and aim consistently. Messing with your body’s positioning can improve or harm your aim. But your best bet for long term health is to learn to aim in the most ergonomic and comfortable position and adjust the rest of your body from there. Trust as someone who has obsessively worked on aim for the past 3-4 years, you will save yourself a lot of pain. I’ve heard of someone even needing back surgery because of their poor gaming posture.

  • @imperialstew6032
    @imperialstew6032 ปีที่แล้ว

    On one hand this makes sense as you have more degrees of freedom to move around, however, the added degrees of freedom leaves more room for a definite amount of error. For example, if you solely wrist aim the only thing moving is your wrist, sure there will be error when you move your wrist but since you aren't moving your arm you don't need to worry about additional error from arm movement. A hybrid approach has both arm and wrist error that an isolated wrist approach generally does not. Solely arm aiming likely incurs wrist error though because your wrist doesn't lock in place and will still shift a little as you play. This is purely theoretical and doesn't factor in playing at a much lower dpi. Just applying engineering tolerance concepts to accurate arm motion.
    Important to mention though that I'm not some god gamer, I'm definitely above average but not some monster at aiming. I generally play with a planted wrist at 950 dpi. Not sure what it ends up being with my in-game sense but in-game sense is kept low (2.0 on titanfall 2). If I get a larger mouse pad I may try arm aiming a little more but many of the weapons in titanfall have little to no bloom and I do hit most of my shots.

    Man, I've been trying to get this right for days now, but I just can't seem to do it. My arm always starts to hurt, whether it's after a while or instantly. It's almost like there are a few muscles that are super weak or something. I only feel comfortable when my whole arm is resting on the table, but then my wrist starts to angle upwards or doesn't rest correctly on the table when I start aim training. As I continue to aim train, my wrist becomes even more angled upwards. Alternatively, my posture may be compromised and not ergonomic.

Also non-texture surface mousepads makes an easier move capability without injury and uncomfortable moving. But the second most important thing is the monitor size and your distance to monitor. 35cm is enough for me with my 27" 2K monitor on Valorant.

I saw your other video and end up with similar posture to yours, but every time I try to pull down to control recoil ( or just vertical movements in general) I find my chair blocking my shoulders and arm, and naturally my body compensated it by rolling my shoulders forward as the "starting position" like what you said at 3:06, so I have more wiggle room when performing downwards movement

      As far as i'm aware on modern mice it shouldn't cause any problems outside of extremely low (100~) or extremely high (4000~+) DPI settings. I play on 1200 atm, have used 1000 extensively too. Never been able to perceive any problems.
      The one thing I believe it can influence is what sensitivities 'feel' most comfortable, as you get accustomed to the mouse movements needed for general PC use. If you were to play on 400 DPI, lower sensitivities probably will feel more comfortable. If you were to play on 3200 DPI, higher sensitivities will likely feel comfortable.
      1000 is a solid mid-range option that feels great for general PC use so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Changing from 1000 to 800 also isn't much of a jump, so not a lot would change.

    You should include your DPI settings. I'm used to playing at like 1600dpi whilst relying heavily on my wrists.

      I believe he says it in other videos but I'm pretty sure it's 1200dpi with low sens

    I have a low mousepad area and therefore I play with a high sensitivity, can my aim still get good even if I don't use my arm at all for aiming?

    This helps a lot. Cheers!
    Could you also help me with a question, please?
    I was wondering if moving my arm and wrist at the exact same time, so simultaneously, is a bad idea.
    For example, in KovaaK's, when I try Close Long Strafes, both my arm and wrist are constantly moving together.
    Is locking my arm in place after finding the target, then using only my wrist for tracking, better?
    Thanks!

      Moving both at the same time is a great idea. You want every component to be contributing. There are certain aim training scenarios that may make planting the wrist feel more performative, but in actual FPS gameplay you'll almost always want to use everything.

    can you make a tutorial on this for people with keyboard trays

    • @StruthGaming
      @StruthGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      That can be tricky depending on the desk. Generally, I would keep it retracted and play from on top of the desk if possible. That can cause some issues with it feeling like it's too high up, or your knees getting blocked by the tray though.
