At first I thought they released this game just for the trap, but listening to this song, I'll tell you - it was worth it
They definitely did because it's the game that first gave them huge critical acclaim overseas. More than Persona 3/4. A lot of people who didn't want to sit through Kojima cutscenes were able to accept gaming as a more mature/cinematic medium. But the jokes a lot of Japanese games made were catching heat as things in Western gaming grew more divisive. Doesn't mean they didn't capitalize on more resources and casting Aya Hirano.
