I absolutely LOVE the role reversal between Katherine and Catherine with their new endings. Katherine goes from being desperate to settle down and live a stable married life and becomes a total free spirited maverick after splitting with Vincent. Catherine goes from being a flirtatious tease with the sole job of seducing men to their own personal tee without any remorse, into wanting to spend the rest of her life with one guy out of love. Katherine realises that Vincent has been an anchor in her life and now that he is gone, she can finally soar to new heights freely. Catherine falls so deeply in love with Vincent that she is unconditionally willing to revert herself and Vincent to a younger age in order for them to relive their lives together and stay as one forever, proving that they are a very well matched couple after all. My hat is off to you Atlus for fleshing out both of these characters so much more here. (Catherine new ending is my personal canon tho)
i said this elsewhere but i'll put it here too; the characters did get a lot more fleshed out, but at the expense of the original point of the story. the whole point was to explore with Vincent which was more important to you in romantic life: stability and emotional support, or excitement and fun flirting and sex. Katherine and Catherine weren't just characters, they represented different value systems. if they become too dynamic as characters then they no longer represent that choice between value systems and the game loses a lot of its weight, which i think it did with the remake. lots of great new content, but something was lost along the way.
Meh, more like Katherine is an anchor to Vincent's life but ok. In any case acting like this in the end is for me a good point to leave her, she will then complaint to Vincent being surrounded of actual playboys with 2 children of 2 different fathers 10 years after lol

They're meant to show new unforeseen possibilities. Katherine is not bound to the possibilities she thought she had with Vincent and her life could be so much more, in the same way Vincent also changed the way Catherine saw things and made her realise there was another way to find her own happines, being with Vincent. These are clear intentional role reversals for the characters and thats where the weight comes from. The fact that some of the game's fanbase just wanted an extra ending that would follow the same idea as the rest of the other endings but with a couple new scenes saddens me. This game (specially with the inclusion of Rin) is about much more than wether u want the stable wife or the sexy succubus
Tbh I used to hate Catherine but the new ending really got me. She didn't want him for sex or seduction atlus showed that she has a lighter side and can be a devoted partner. Love that.

The entire conception of angels was from these aliens and their special suit they wore that look like how we imagine them. They essentially are the angels we know in disguise truly being aliens. So basically, Rin is an angel who are actually aliens.
I think Vincent going to Space to become Spike Spiegel, or becoming a Hollywood Mogul Producer are fine. Either one. Long as he's happy. And even though it's not choosing to be by himself, at least he still gets to go to Space!

Whatever your sexuality or tastes are you can not deny that rins character was written really well. I legit almost forgot technically this would be a gay relationship. I saw it as two people just being in love for being themselves. I’m still on the Catherine boat but well done atlus with their writing on rin.
I don't consider Rin as a male since it is an alien and is mono gendered. I mean when Rin's "brother" appeared in front of them, that figure talked in a dominant male voice but the minion form of Rin's "brother" talked in childish female voice so, it indicates Rin and those aliens can morph into anything they wish to be.
Subhankar Baral yeah I know but the game tries to push rin as a male for its message so I just call rin a male for the sake of it. I don’t really get into the whole classification of genders cause that’s just a whole headache to get through. Especially for people who really shouldn’t do it but do it anyway.

Nah, only. Vincent and Catherine knows. Everyone else didn't remember (that's why a lot of characters are different from their other timeline counterpart.)
Aahh yes. The classic anime cliche where they draw a girl and make her feminine af but call her a boy. Thats pretty much Rin here. Altho I did like Rin as a character. I feel like she distracts from the main story rather than adding anything. Personally, my favorite ending would be Catherine's new true ending where she changes the past to just be with Vincent. And I can't believe that Katerine's New Ending is even worse than Vanilla's Bad Endings, I mean, this one was so toxic for Vincent. @@sebastianjoseph6728 I actually think Rin has added some meaningful story. Unlike Catherine and Katherine in the main plot, Rin never demands anything from Vincent. His love is selfless where Catherine and Katherine's are selfish. He accepts Vincent for the way he is and never once ask that he change for him. The fact that he's a boy reflects this perspective onto Vincent, who instead of wishing him to change (wishing him to be a girl), accepts Rin as he is. Vincent ends up loving him because he wants to, not because of an obligation to a moral compass (Katherine) or because he resents his current life (Catherine). I think the new Katherine ending is a Bad Ending, actually. Vincent cheats on her and she moves on, leaving him. I just like the new Catherine ending over any of Katherine's endings because the writers showed that she's willing to sacrifice a part of herself for Vincent, as any sort of love demands. The incentive for choosing Katherine as a love interest is that she deserves a good man (which is true), but it doesn't impact me the same way a demon going back in time to redeem herself does :D Sorry for the long write-up. Catherine has been one of my favorite games since the original came out.

As for Rin, as much as I loved Rin as a character, I feel like she disracts from the original two Katherine and Catherine and it seemed like the story was more focussed on her compared to the other two without her adding anything meaningful since she's always the innocent goody two shoes who's going to support Vincent no matter what. Like there's no form of conflict when it comes to Rin like there is in the other two. You'll get a good ending with Rin no matter what you choose if you take the Rin route that is. I laughed my ass off when it was revealed that she was a trap and whats even more laughable are SJWs who are ignorant to anime culture thinking that Rin being a boy is supposed to be some of LGBT representation. I think New Catherine's ending is the best because nobody really died thanks to Catherine growing up in highschool with Vincent and not seducing any men for Dumuzid.

So I've just finished the Katherine route and I decided to come here to see what the other routes looked like. And now I see aliens ? And everyone's chill about it ? Like what the actual fck ? This is so different than the other endings.
And Katherine Proved to be the bitch we all knew she was, she's even treating Paul like shit in Catherine's new ending. Maybe she wasn't such a bitch 5 years ago, but she is now.
Its so odd, now with these endings Katherine seems to be into the moneymaker type. Its been there even in the original Catherine when she asked in the beginning about Vincent getting paid for his overtime, hell she even smiles when he mentioned it. And in these two endings with Katherine being successful with another man, and saying Paul needs to get a raise before talking about marriage just plainly puts it out there. Meanwhile Catherine in terms of changes and newfound things, I guess she is more willing to change anything so long as things seem to be the better for her and Vincent, though I don't see how Eric/Erica's sex change not going through had anything to do with it, but it could be a butterfly effect I guess.

For me the best ending is the one with Katherine and Rin. But I think absolute best is Katherine possibly because she is more grounded in reality. The reality that even if you seem ordinary the person for you makes life feel great. However, Rin is also great because they are quite sweet and good. I wish Rin's ending was as complex in some ways, plotwise it is and the way for me it is the best is the maturity accepting and loving others.
Katherine's Alternate Ending is anything but grounded in reality. That's some super cartoony shit with men chasing her in sports cars and boats. It actively pissed me off with how cartoony it was.
Katerine's New Ending is even worse than Vanilla's Bad Endings, I mean, this one was so toxic for Vincent. Ironically, Catherine's New Ending has become my favorite one by far.

I often take the bad ending myself in this game and pick the "wrong answers" in puzzles cause I've always thought Vincent's true nature is to be untied from the whims of society, admittedly he seems to me much happier in the Catherine endings. Being untied sexually physically and emotionally.

I'm glad that Catherine had a better ending. Was sort of sad that it's the whole "hell aspect", than just a normal life. It's crazy that it travels back in the highschool one though
am i the only one who doesn't like Catherine alt ending? she becomes a completely different character, it feels like fanfiction. Catherine was a succubus and her whole character was supposed to represent the chaos of open relationships and whether you value looks and sex over a more traditional, value driven, monogamous marriage. idk, full body added so much, and Rin is a great addition, but they blurred the defining characteristics of the 2 OG CKatherines too much and so now the story feels like it's lost some weight.
The ONLY way to achieve this in game is to stay in the middle of the meter. I thought these were the bad ending cause I thought I answered the questions wrong for true freedom, but seeing these alternate endings was even more worth it. It was Vincent saying to Erica "I would be more convinced if a woman was telling me this" being changed to "Oh come on." People are really overblowing this, it's such a negligible change that doesn't affect the story at all. People should be actually upset that the Shin Megami Tensei tracks were removed from the Jukebox, lol.

I like the True Freedom ending but HATE the Katherine Alternative ending, even though they are essentially the same with the characters switched. Incel confirmed. A Lonely Freedom ending would be nice. I'm sure a lot of us would project pretty well onto that.
Having these options makes the game much better. The first one is both fun and humorous, but it's also objectively sexist and has some pretty petty views about being in a relationship (it comes off as having a resentful mindset). With these additional outcomes, the characters seem more three dimensional and likable.
honestly? i dont like any of the new endings, they dont feel like they belong to the original setting of the game at all. Katherine's looks too woke Catherine's is a bad fanfic and Rin just doesnt make sense considering the original freedom ending is better cuz it involved Vincent achieving his big and really expensive dream of going to mars, and this new intergalactic setting just makes the freedom ending irrelevant the original game is better IMO
THIS seriously this version had so much of the same love and care put into everything BUT the writing this time. new music and artwork is all great, but it feels like they ditched the whole core concept of choosing between romantic lifestyles in favor of pandering and fan service. most of the new writing beats focus on "what-ifs" and changing the defining characteristics of the main cast, and it removes a lot of the philosophical weight that the original game had going for it.

Can someone explain me why Katherine is in Rins true ending? I mean if my ex would give me an invitation to a piano show where his new gf plays the piano I wouldn't attempt. (I didn't play the game. I just know the original Catherine and came here to see the new endings.)
It may be a form of ally-ship. There was this cutscene in the game if I remember, where Vincent and Katherine break up bc Vincent chose rin (as you see here) and Katherine asks who is she and Vincent corrects her as Rin isn't exactly the normal she. Katherine, in spite of being dumped for rin, is happy for vincent and his change of view for himself and the found relationship. Rin also never makes a remarks like Catherine on being self destructive or promoting pushing Katherine away but rather as to promoting vincent in a positive life. Both Katherine and Rin love vincent and are not vindictive characters (only Katherine if provoked).
Technically Catherine is still a demon, so after the new ending there could've happend the old ending as well. The new Catherine one just tops them all.

@@sebastianjoseph6728 I actually think Rin has added some meaningful story. Unlike Catherine and Katherine in the main plot, Rin never demands anything from Vincent. His love is selfless where Catherine and Katherine's are selfish. He accepts Vincent for the way he is and never once ask that he change for him. The fact that he's a boy reflects this perspective onto Vincent, who instead of wishing him to change (wishing him to be a girl), accepts Rin as he is. Vincent ends up loving him because he wants to, not because of an obligation to a moral compass (Katherine) or because he resents his current life (Catherine).
I think the new Katherine ending is a Bad Ending, actually. Vincent cheats on her and she moves on, leaving him. I just like the new Catherine ending over any of Katherine's endings because the writers showed that she's willing to sacrifice a part of herself for Vincent, as any sort of love demands. The incentive for choosing Katherine as a love interest is that she deserves a good man (which is true), but it doesn't impact me the same way a demon going back in time to redeem herself does :D

But personally, I prefer Catherine's new true ending which surprised me considering that she is a succubus and despite that, she's willing to go back in time to just be with Vincent. Not to mention change herself and marry Vincent in the process. Katherine's new true ending turned her out to be a toxic, shallow and fame hungry chick. Yeah, I'd take Catherine over that anyday. As for Rin, as much as I loved Rin as a character, I feel like she disracts from the original two Katherine and Catherine and it seemed like the story was more focussed on her compared to the other two without her adding anything meaningful since she's always the innocent goody two shoes who's going to support Vincent no matter what. Like there's no form of conflict when it comes to Rin like there is in the other two. You'll get a good ending with Rin no matter what you choose if you take the Rin route that is. I laughed my ass off when it was revealed that she was a trap and whats even more laughable are SJWs who are ignorant to anime culture thinking that Rin being a boy is supposed to be some of LGBT representation. XD

Its so odd, now with these endings Katherine seems to be into the moneymaker type. Its been there even in the original Catherine when she asked in the beginning about Vincent getting paid for his overtime, hell she even smiles when he mentioned it. And in these two endings with Katherine being successful with another man, and saying Paul needs to get a raise before talking about marriage just plainly puts it out there.
Meanwhile Catherine in terms of changes and newfound things, I guess she is more willing to change anything so long as things seem to be the better for her and Vincent, though I don't see how Eric/Erica's sex change not going through had anything to do with it, but it could be a butterfly effect I guess.

For me the best ending is the one with Katherine and Rin. But I think absolute best is Katherine possibly because she is more grounded in reality. The reality that even if you seem ordinary the person for you makes life feel great. However, Rin is also great because they are quite sweet and good. I wish Rin's ending was as complex in some ways, plotwise it is and the way for me it is the best is the maturity accepting and loving others.
Katherine's Alternate Ending is anything but grounded in reality. That's some super cartoony shit with men chasing her in sports cars and boats. It actively pissed me off with how cartoony it was.

am i the only one who doesn't like Catherine alt ending? she becomes a completely different character, it feels like fanfiction. Catherine was a succubus and her whole character was supposed to represent the chaos of open relationships and whether you value looks and sex over a more traditional, value driven, monogamous marriage. idk, full body added so much, and Rin is a great addition, but they blurred the defining characteristics of the 2 OG CKatherines too much and so now the story feels like it's lost some weight.
I also felt weird about this ending. It's cute, but also, it felt forced? I had similar feelings about Katherine's new true ending.

People should be actually upset that the Shin Megami Tensei tracks were removed from the Jukebox, lol.

Having these options makes the game much better. The first one is both fun and humorous, but it's also objectively sexist and has some pretty petty views about being in a relationship (it comes off as having a resentful mindset). With these additional outcomes, the characters seem more three dimensional and likable.

seriously this version had so much of the same love and care put into everything BUT the writing this time. new music and artwork is all great, but it feels like they ditched the whole core concept of choosing between romantic lifestyles in favor of pandering and fan service. most of the new writing beats focus on "what-ifs" and changing the defining characteristics of the main cast, and it removes a lot of the philosophical weight that the original game had going for it.

It may be a form of ally-ship. There was this cutscene in the game if I remember, where Vincent and Katherine break up bc Vincent chose rin (as you see here) and Katherine asks who is she and Vincent corrects her as Rin isn't exactly the normal she. Katherine, in spite of being dumped for rin, is happy for vincent and his change of view for himself and the found relationship. Rin also never makes a remarks like Catherine on being self destructive or promoting pushing Katherine away but rather as to promoting vincent in a positive life. Both Katherine and Rin love vincent and are not vindictive characters (only Katherine if provoked).
They broke off on good terms and are still friends.
