These comments are comedy gold, I can’t believe how many people don’t realize you’re joking!
I like to use a 30 grit sandpaper and a dremel tool.
Funny stuff . I knew we were in trouble as soon as the sink came into shot.
I use an angle grinder for mine, there are these felt pads that you use to polish cars. Works within seconds.
That vinyl record is shinny shinny now 🤣🤣🤣
Let's hear a play test to really appreciate your record cleaning prowess
Are you gonna do this from Abba to Zappa ? If you are , the sink will be spotless !! 😎
I just put about 50 albums in the dishwasher, and they come out really clean. The only trouble is the labels come off, so it's a bit like a poor mans Spotify shuffle when I play them.
I don't understand what everyone is complaining about. I followed these exact instructions for my Nickelback records and they sound much better.
My Justin Beiber albums never sounded better
I find that using a Brillo pad is more effective in getting to the dirt stuck deep inside the record grooves. Also before cleaning the record make a photo copy of the labels and glue those to the record once you're done cleaning.
Hi Larry. As soon as you whipped out the Comet I knew this was definitly a comedy video. LMAO! I anticipate angry comments below from poor saps who took the video seroiusly and actualy "cleaned" their records this way. Oh by the way the huge scratch on side one is still very noticable at the end of the video. 😂
I think I will try your technique on my Meet The Beatles original pressing. I'll let you know how it goes. 😆
Please don't sue me! 😃
OMG no, no, no! Larry you've created a monster!
As soon as I saw this video title, I knew it was going to be a comedy video that was going to make vinyl collectors cringe. Good job.
Ha ha, thanks Randy! 😃
This was really inventive, practical, and informative. Almost looks like you’re cleaning one of Tony Montana’s records after a good listening party. With my dirty vinyl, I usually just toss it under the couch cushions and have my kids jump up and down as I slide the record carefully back out.
Now your Abba record is now Abba (rasive)!
I normally give them a light sandpaper rub before washing and you really should have used a hairdryer to finish it all off. Varnish can also make sure the records always look shiny.
Just had to watch this again after watching your Mind Games EP video haha
Why do I feel like he's gonna take sandpaper to the record when I saw this? Haha
And all this time I thought scratches were permanent. Thanks for this!
I shoulda watched to the end of the video before I started cleaning records
Clean as a whistle! Now Glen knows how to clean ABBA records!
Yes!
I cleaned my original (1875) Canadian pressing of Dark Side of the Moon (by Pink Floyd) using this method and it actually improved the record's sound so much that my cat stopped playing around and came over to sit and sip whiskey with me while it played. Absolutely fantastic tutorial, thanks a million!
Glad it worked out for you. No idea why some people complain about my great method!
@@canadianstudmuffin I applaud you for realizing the hilarity of it all.
@@brucegelman5582 Thanks!
This is truly High Quality Entertainment
I have Abba cd and vinyl
Do that again with a Sparks record?
No way!
@@canadianstudmuffin 😆
I must try this. I currently apply a thin coat of sardine oil (for a glossy finish) and get the cat to lick it clean. Cat's tongues work better than microfibre or brushes! Your records would smell so much better than mine.
Lol! “In a circular motion….Nanuk rubs it….” -The poodle bites….
Larry, for a few minutes you almost had me thinking this wouldn't be a parody video
🤣🤣🤣
I had that ABBA album Larry, they were actually a great pop band,a little to polished for my liking, still they were good but I could only take them for so long. Bob
Wow! I'm so glad i found this how to video.
It really does work on disgusting vinyl.
My Oasis and Morrisey albums are now super clean.
Unplayable but dirt free. So a double bonus.
Great channel!
Glad it was helpful! Rock on!
The vinyl : ✅
The label : 💀💀💀💀
Absolutely fantastic method. Used it to clean my Beatles ‘65 record sounds good as new! 10/10
To comment about the Comet cleaner in one word - Naaa-noooo!
Ages ago when I had vinyl records, I used de-ionized warm water or lion's water to clean them and keep the water off the label. To dry them I had a hot air hair dryer set to the low temperature and low speed to get the water out of the grooves or else the musicians would drown.
Hi Larry. Now, I didn’t immediately assume this was a spoof video because there is a serious record cleaning vid out there where the guy uses WD40, after washing, to clean an album, and it works! (He actually plays the album before and after to prove the reduction in surface noise). I suppose alarm bells rang when you said your method was going to cure the scratch - that was never going to happen.
This hurts😂🤣😂
Does it work for cassette tapes?
Yes.
Oof, you are a great comedian ❤
Well, you just ruined what could have been a perfectly good ashtray or clock.....
what are you? some sort of comedian, eh? ;)
Wow what the heck ! Thanks for the early morning belly laughs Larry.Your too funny !!!
Non scratching bleach hahahahah- good one!
If that had been a Led Zeppelin album, I would’ve been dying
I usally use dishwasher
😂 😂 Love the video, gave me a good laugh
When I grow up, I want to be an audiophile just like you, eh?
The ultima test is listening.
Most of my vinyls are in a quite decent condition. When properly stored they don't need any kind of cleaning. Some that I own are decades old. I even have a couple of classic discs from the 50's inherited from my father's collection.
If per unluck, I have a dirty vinyl, I use tepid water from the faucet and some dishwashing liquid soap. Rince well to remove all the remaining soap. (Water on the label must absolutely be avoided.).
After that I dry them with a lens cloth.
Of course cleaning will not remove scratches and I even suspect that back in the 60's to the 80's, labels were using matrices that had already scratches to press their records. But not all, for instance Elektra (Queen) made superb pressings. Atlantic, A&M, Geffen, Vertigo and Charisma were very good too.
Oh no! ;-)
HAHAHAHA!!! This was great !
When you quickly flipped the record over to hide the scratch I lost it.
I haven't laughed so much since seeing that old audiophilia 50s skit where the narrator asks 'is it a disease?'. But seriously Larry, I had a particularly irksome Blue Note record that was covered in mould. Nothing seemed to lift it until I tried anti-fungicide spray. I scrubbed and scrubbed. Did it come off? No, but I sure felt better! 😂
I usually sneeze on mine. Smear it in.
Wow. Never even thought of trying that!
@@canadianstudmuffin Yeah. That's why I look forward to head colds.
Shore would work better
@@marklloyd7159 Smooths out the scratches.
Larry you joker 🤣
I have an old Ray Coniff record here that needs a wash. I will use your method. 😅
Best of luck. Please don't sue me!
I have a Lawerence Welk one!
Hahahahahaha! You got a new subscriber with this video. Did you try to clean your precious CDs using that method? If yes, please explain if the whole technique works for CDs as well, or if more or less scratch free Comet is needed on each side of the CD!
Hello my friend. Have a question 4 u. Instead of using Comet, would it be safer on the vinyl to use a dishwashing liquid instead? Just wondering. Thank you...
Well, It never hurts to try. I tried the Dishwasher method. Bad, bad idea. DO NOT try at home! Love ya Larry...
😀✨thanks
I think your method is great but I am lazy. Is there a thousand dollar machine that I can buy and put the Comet in that will do the same thing?
Damn you're a magician dude!!😜

I was looking for the instructions in the pinned comment, Larry....
@@MostlyLoveOfMusic I accidentally forgot!
The poodle chews it….
Amazing! I had no idea they still made Comet.
It's the best for cleaning toilets and vinyl!
@@canadianstudmuffin I like the way it gives the label that vintage look. 👌
@@tonyeamon5118 It was all planned out like that!
Ha ha the scratch is not gone.
Most crazy i’ve ever seen. Why don’t you try to Play it? I guess it’s totally cleen, even the music is gone.
Plays great except for some surface noise.
Larry, I remember 957 videos ago, you saying that you didn't have a record player but couldn't remember coming across a video titled "Mr Studmuffin buys a record player!", so I reckoned this video wasn't going to be wholly serious, however, I was expecting you to get the barbecue going, and that the dirt would disappear alright....in flames and clouds of black soot!!
That Beach Boys album looks like a bootleg. You got a good deal!
I’m not sure that’s the best way to clean a record!😂
It works like a charm! I hope you got some Comet for your birthday, Adam!
@@canadianstudmuffin I didn’t unfortunately, it’s not too late to send me some! You’ll have to pay for shipping though!😂

LOL !!!
They charged you $2.99 for THAT? Who is that guy, Big Pharma? That is absolutely ridiculous. But on the other hand, I was amazed at your cleaning job. 40 years of collecting records and I'm pleased to know I've been doing it wrong. I'm going to work on my Beatle Butcher cover and Dylan bootlegs. Can't wait.
And dude, I am so sorry about your label there. That's horrible luck. But at least the record is clean😐
Thank you. I don't think labels are that important, it's mainly the music that is important!
This was good! I knew something was going to happen as soon as the sink came up.
I always say, "let that sink in!".
Thx Larry! I have to try this method. Ah.....Larry, that Beach Boys LP you have is now called the "Beach Boys Lost Demo's." And you have a mint copy. This is the Holy Grail of B.B. collectables! Only 17 copies are known to exist. I'll give you 11,500. in U.S. currency. After I pass, I'll donate it to the R n' R Hall of Fame. 11,500 not enough? I can sweeten the pot a little my friend.
This guys got to be joking
Nope!
Why ABBA? You better take a-ha
This can’t be real. There is no way this is real or he is serious. By the way, I am male and do the dishes while my wife plays video games
This video is as real as life itself!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I cringed the whole time you did this. I love ABBA. 😬
Scouring powder???? Hot water ???? How to destroy vinyl , might as well stick it in the washing machine. NOW TRY TO PLAY IT
Do you not realize this is a joke video?
@@canadianstudmuffin Washing machine, your followers have actually pretty nice ideas. Have you explored this possibility? You could clean your whole collection at once, and for good (I mean, after that, no more vinyl collection!).
Three Canadian dollars for Beachboys rearity U really r a stud muffin enjoyed your video peace and love lloydy
It's an Ep not an Lp
It is listed as an LP on Discogs.
Ermm, the label is made out of paper. This is so wrong in so may ways. Scouring pad and bleach? Seriously?
It cleans vinyl records great!
This is exactly how not to clean a record oh my god is this guy for real 😂🤣 Using bleach really and he was using a regular dish cloth to dry off the record. You totally ruined your record sir.
